Me and my family used OS 9 up until 2006, we got alot of use out of OS 9 despite it being outdated. I have alot of fond memories also, playing bugdom, playing flash games every friday night. OS 9 is still one of my favorite Operating Systems, its also interesting how the old Mac OS setup process worked.

I’m sure most still use OS 9 until 2006 is because of how immature the OS X Cheetah was I think the Tiger is where the OS X took off

If you got the restore disk set for your Mac up to the G4 MDD model that could boot MacOS 9 natively, you should be able to find the MacOS 9 DMG (ISO) file inside a hidden .images folder on the recovery disk. A period before a folder name makes the folder invisible in Finder, so you must use either the Go to folder command in Finder or Terminal.

I'm sure this install tutorial applies to anything with PowerPC prior to the iMac/iBook, as well, i.e. the Power Macintosh 5xxx Series (5500/225 owner here). Although the CD-ROM drive on mine is jammed, and looking to find out how to repair that situation. I mean, it acts like it wants to open, but I think it butts up against the cavity. Seems there might be a way to reseat it, but I'm not sure that I'm comfortable opening up an All-in-One PPC Mac, though.

I wrote to a CD-RW with Nero on Win XP. It looks like there are no files on the CD? I tried on my modern Win 7 PC as well. I see no files. Is it a specially formatted image?

MacOS CDs typically use HFS file system. You must use them in Macs or use special software in Windows to access them.

    WTF?
1.) OS 9 is no where NEAR based on Linux.
2.) This doesn't even make sense anyway.

macOS to apple is a new name because of macOS sierra. Really Apple? Remember your old OS for Mac? Lol
