Ken said he wrote the song for himself, his family, his fans and most especially for God from whom he is eternally grateful.
Felip/Ken is really badass on stage. But off stage, especially when he's with his SB brothers, he is such a baby. That's why mommies and grandmas (like me) love Ken. We want to protect and take care of him❤
He is quite a complex puzzle but if you take time to learn and understand his eyes, facial and body languages...you'll get to see the gold in him, you'll see through him that fragile heart, that grateful guy, that appreciative guy.
That guy only hides his softie side inside a mask of a badass guy. He doesn't mind being the villain, he doesn't want to be called the hero. I understand him because im quite like him. 😊
Fyi, all Felip's songs until now are either in Bisaya or English, not Tagalog which is the official Nation Language of Phillippines. Ken is the only member of SB19 whose first language not Tagalog but Bisaya, one of hundreds of different languages that is spoken in each different region of Phillippines, Bisaya is being spoken in Cebuano region
When he started his solo career, he released 2 singles then an EP called COMPLEX (6songs) - total or 8 songs if I count the singles. After the successful release of his EP he surprise everyone with this song KANAKO. WHEN I first watched it I cried, it hits diff coz the lyrics hit so hard since ive been his fan since 2018. And many of us were seen in the mv so thats makes it extra special

I highly recommend Cashual Chuck's SB19 Story series and Doug Brock's interview with Felip. Their climb was never easy and it shows in their lyrics.
The A'tin fanbase ranges from toddlers called cocogentos (cocomelon + gento) to lolagento (grannies) 😅
What I appreciate about them aside from their raw talent is they always have songs of appreciation to their fans like this, SLMT, Liham and Freedom.
That's our Felip. He can create a song in rock genre but with a soft and emotional meaning. Felip is a person who puts his soul in making music and gives his emotion in every performance. Inside that badass look is a soft and caring man. A guy who has a habit of asking his fans/audience if they ate already, and would scold them for coming to the event venue hours away before the event start. That's why he is loved and admired by many.

We all support their solo performances. Felip is a versatile artist. He can be sweet and fun, and the other side is being a rockstar. Kanako is dedicated to his/their fans. He might not be vocal sometimes, but he truly cares about his sisiws and A'tin in general. Bad Ass with a soft heart indeed.

I interpret this as a double meaning song, this is him talking to God, while at the same time talking to all the people who support him all this time (fans, family, friends, his staffs). This is from his ig story where he share his first version of Kanako lyrics:
in the first version the lyrics saying "Sa adlaw adlaw oh Diyos ako ubani" which means "Be with me oh Lord each day". Diyos means God.
it's the lyrics before the line
"when you're with me,
I don't wanna go home
I know your love is flowing eternally
Like river and the sea,
a miracle I see"
And if you read again all the lyrics, you definitely will see how it is also pretty much his confession to God. In my interpretation, it's like him thanking to God for His love that's being formed as the people who always supporting him, the love of God for him through those people who support him all the time.
people like Ken/Felip is often misunderstood. And they are the thpe that do not retaliate and instead stay in silence. I am glad that he has a venue to release all these feelings..

Ken is a softie, softhearted and very appreciative to his fans and A'tin. He loves God as he was brought up as a God-fearing person because his grandfather and Dad are Pastors, he basically grew up in a church… he also is generous and is a silent Philanthropist, his good deeds are not known to the public, it only gets exposed when the person he helped, thank him in socmed. That’s how good of a person he is. I cried when he first released this song, praising God and his fans.
SB19 and A'tin is in another level kind of artist-fan relationship. They have a close relationship pero they have respects for each other as well. I think Atin helps them to stay grounded while believing in them being worthy for more to keep their passion fiery. While SB19, other than being source of happiness, they're a good motivator for Atin 'cause everything they are is so relatable. Being so transparent of their flaws then seeing their monstrosity on stage tells us that whatever we may want to be, we can do it as long as you put your mind and your heart to it.

It really was a nice song. It made us appreciate artist who really appreciate their fans by making a song for them. Tell me another artist who will do that? Not just Felip, but SB19 as a whole. That's why their fans are very dedicated to them, because they know they are appreciated and acknowledge.

Ha ha ha! My first bias in SB19 was Pablo. Ken’s voice drew me to him. Never expected him to be super talented too. He is special. Have watched and listened to his Palayo, Bulan, and the Com-plex EP. Never thought I would like his Com-plex EP though, it is not my genre. Surprisingly, I am now, Ken/Felip bias.
I love them five but Ken is my baby😅. Yeah your right he looked the badd3st with his fit and all but only a softie can make this kind of so so so sweet song for his fans. We have more than a hundred dialects in the Philippines. His dialect is different from mine and I can only understand a few words without the subtitles but I cried ugly tears while feeling a lump in the back of my throat the whole time and my chest felt like it was gonna burst the first I've seen this MV. My heart still feels so full every single time I listen to Kanako.
