Brilliant Sir. Thank you so much. Just one important question. I have 5G and 2.4G dual because some of the devices (bulbs dimmer) use 2.4Ghz and won't connect to 5Ghz. Is there an option to choose dual signal Wi-Fi going simultaneously? I have opted to go for the Hub5 after complaining to Virgin that the previous one is too sluggish and not giving a full range. They will give me additional pods also. Tell me is the signal better? Is it more stable? Did you use the Pods to boost the signal?
I don’t use pods to boost the signal. I believe the 2.4ghz and 5ghz signals run simultaneously so your device connects to whichever one. Signal seems stable
Did you get an invite to receive the 5 or did you somehow manage to call and ask for it? I'm on the 1gb and calling today still didn't get me anywhere.
Congratulations mate. I'll take a shot in the dark and guess you're not on the 1gb package though? Hopefully I'm wrong and you are because that means the invite trial scheme is coming to an end and we'll be able to order them soon.
@@LurgsHowToGuides You should look to see how much you're paying because the 1gb package is only £42 a month at the moment and the hub 5 is the only one that has a port fast enough for it.

If some devices connect ok then it’s not a wifi issue. Login to your devices which won’t connect and try the ‘Forget Network’ option. This will force the device into you putting the password in again.
Great video 👍 do you know if this hub can be set up to keep your old device password as it’s a pain if I have got to change everything. Cheers in advance.
I doubt it as it’s a new router. You could set the password the same as your old one and that may work. But I think you’ll have to login again with all your devices

Sorry bit of an off-topic rant, I know, but does anyone know a way to get a Virgin hub 5 without having the top 1GB package? I have had a hub 3 for the best part of a decade now (the original white one) and I am sure it is causing the high latency and occasional connection speed drops I have with my 200mb service. Surely after owning the same router for 10 years, it should be possible to upgrade to a newer one without having to upgrade to the top package? I'd even pay a one-off fee for it, just object to agreeing to a long-term contract for a service way in excess of my needs.
Yes I’ve heard a few comments like that on this video, odd. Mine was an email from them offering it for free, I never asked. Maybe they are rolling it out slowly or maybe can’t keep up with demand.
I have asked virgin 3 times for the new superhub 5 and they won’t give me one. My sister and a friend of mine have both been offered one and they don’t even know what it is so haven’t taken up the offer. I am a techie and would like the WiFi 6 capabilities and am on a higher speed package than them but being refused every time. I have given up asking now 🤷
It's because Virgin Media are slowly rolling out the hub 5. It isn't readily available through the usual sales channels yet and you can only get it if you get the email offering you one
@@123silentassassin Yes I know that but it doesn’t make any sense offering one to customers who haven’t shown any interest and wouldn’t appreciate the upgrade. I guess I will just have to wait for the email
@@taximonkey saying someone will not appreciate the WiFi 6 upgrade, for instance, is a bit disingenuous don't you think? Even those who aren't tech savvy will notice a difference in performance. @@123silentassassin the 2 people I mentioned before that were offered the upgrade only use their internet for browsing Google / Facebook etc and wouldn’t be aware of the performance as long as their internet “worked”. just installed new hub 5. but we have got old remotes that are used with the mini 360 tivo. When we need to connect the wifi to the mini tivo box, it asks for password but there is no keyboard displayed on the tv screen, hence we cannot enter password as the old remote has no facility to enter letters. Spoke to virgin and they havent got a clue
I'm still on the hub 4. I've not had many problems but soon I am turning off the WiFi and putting it into bridge mode and using amazon eero routers instead. Can anyone answer this for me? If I do upgrade to a hub 5 can I go into the settings and keep the original SSID and password or will I lose the connection with all my WiFi run equipment? It will be a pain relinking multiple items such as the Hive, TV, AV receiver Alexa devices etc. Any advice gratefully received. 😊
I've big concern here I tried to enter my hub 5 settings password but it keeps saying password incorrect I've reset the hub 5 and it still hasn't worked
Press the reset (sunken button) on the hub five first, to reset box. then type into your 192 in browser and try the password again on that sticker (above the word sagencom on the sticker)
Please help because virgin won't. I received the new Hub 5 through email invite. It arrived but only worked for a few days then wouldn't connect to the Internet AND blew up my virgin powerline adaptor that was attached to it! They sent another hub 5, now this one won't send barely any WiFi to any of my 3 firesticks. I have 200mbps on my phone, laptop, tablet etc but only 0.42mbps on my firesticks, making them impossible to use. Please help! Thankyou
Much easier to change the name of the Wi-Fi on your new hub to the same Wi-Fi and password as your old hub then you don’t have to reconnect all your other devices
The Hub is disconnecting or devices are disconnecting from the Hub? If the Hub is disconnecting check connections, power off for 10mins and back on. If still happens ring Virgin they can check it remotely
i would upgrade to hub 4 untill the hub 5 is available and get the wifi pods in the package there ok and do stop buffering and is better for playing video games like fortnite. i used to get 50 ping now i get a better ping on wifi of 30 and ethernet 10-15ping so wifi is definatly improved so is it easier to get ethernet

Hi I just received my hub 5 got it all up and running, and found out it's not compatible with a phone line (yet ) had to send it back ,what a waste of time
Hi everyone, Just wasted most of the day (New Year's Eve) trying to connect our devices to our new VM Hub 5, which was sent as a replacement for our Hub 3. To save everyone else the same pain and frustration I have included the Tech Support script from my online chat to clarify what happened as Virgin Media don't have a relevant Help Topic (that I could find). Tech: - "Thank you for confirming, as I can check the new Hub 5 is already activated and connected on your services, however in some of the cases we keep the previous SSID of your former Hub for convenience, so I request you to please connect your devices with the previous SSID and do let me know if you are able to connect and browse the internet?" This is very different from Lurg's extremely helpful video where the new Hub 5 "VM SSID" is listed in his computer's available WiFi connections. Perhaps Virgin Media had loads of customer compalints about needing to reset every connected device, so changed the process - without telling anyone! Our devices are running on the previous WiFi VM SSID with the original password. NOTE: - Make sure you remove and keep your Hub 3 SSID and Password tag before you return your Hub 3!
@LurgsHowToGuides my old hub 3 had 4 cables in the back, I put all 4 cables in new hub 5 and it says no Internet. I then done what u did with only 2 cables in and still no difference.
That’s odd as that is the WPS connection using the QR code on the back. If internet is working then eventually it should go to white, if not try a simple power off for 30 seconds
Hi, Thanks for this & I've just done it. However, I'd also like to change the password on the HUB 5 itself. Is this possible? I'm just thinking that if I have workmen in etc, they can't bugger about with it.
Crap Hub!! mine crashed and bricked twice, Virgin came yesterday and the engineer said everyone is having the same problem, so he gave me the option of having another Hub 5 or go back to the Hub 3 (which he recommended because of the bugs) so I'm now back to Hub 3. I will get the Hub 5 when they finally sort out the bad issues they are having with it.
Engineer just left my house after installing hub 4 ! Hub 5 delivered last week wouldn’t work when I installed it and I have been informed that only being sent out to trial with existing customers and not fully tested I was happy with my hub 3 until virgin turned it off but apparently 4 is the best up to now so be careful
Ours has been ok so far but it seems a bit flakier sometimes. Randomly it will drop out Wifi then reconnect. Dunno if it’s the dual band. But overall it’s been ok
Crap so far!! I work in IT and the so called 30 min setup is rubbish. Connection works but no WiFi!! Told by Virgin to wait 24 hours!! No mention of that in the manual!! Tried connecting to the router through ethernet cable to access router settings and just get blank screen after logging in!! Shocking service Virgin!! Be after compensation I think!! 🤬🤬
some geniune feedback on this router, if you live even in a mid range house, AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS sure the speed is good, but the range is probably less then my arm span, if your not beside the router on any gaming console on computer, have fun lagging so much you look like you've mastered instant transmission, oh yeah and the boosters? have fun getting them to since they make you take a speed test that measures download and upload speed and if that isnt under 15mbps download well your not getting one trust me ive tried, connection is so bad in my room ive used over half the data on my phone which for reference is 190GBS! so you do the math but nope even with that the connection is still "fine" according to them so if you care for decent speeds, shit not even decent speeds if you care for a stable connection, look elsewhere. unless you live in a one room apartment, then this is probably for you because from what ive seen, this is what this was designed for

You should be entitled to a hub 4 at least. It's not bad and seems a definite step up from the 3.
Nice and simple thanks
Thanks. Glad it was useful 😎
How have you got your hub 5 I recently contacted them and was told it’s not available yet
Yes I’ve heard a few comments like that on this video, odd. Mine was an email from them offering it for free, I never asked. Maybe they are rolling it out slowly or maybe can’t keep up with demand.
They are rolling it out to Super Hub 3 users to start with as they will have the biggest benefits
I have just ordered a new hub 5 ; from hub4 I want Virgin to install it , when I get the notification it’s on it’s way do Virgin disconnect my hub 4 .
No when you install the Hub5 you then contact Virgin who then make sure it fires up
@@LurgsHowToGuides ok 👍🏻 thanks for that I was stressed 😩 thinking I would lose my internet .
I have given up asking now 🤷
How odd.
I have expressed interest online twice and contacted them by phone and was told they would do it for me then was passed over to a different department and told absolutely not.
I guess I will just have to wait for the email
@@taximonkey saying someone will not appreciate the WiFi 6 upgrade, for instance, is a bit disingenuous don't you think? Even those who aren't tech savvy will notice a difference in performance. Yes, you'll just have to be patient and wait because agents cannot even give people the hub 4 unless they take out gig1.
@@123silentassassin the 2 people I mentioned before that were offered the upgrade only use their internet for browsing Google / Facebook etc and wouldn’t be aware of the performance as long as their internet “worked”. I have my Superhub 3 connected to my NAS, Ubiquity access point and cameras etc and do a lot of downloading so I really would notice the difference in performance so we will have to disagree on that point. Yes I will just have to wait
How to get hub 5 vm saying 1gb with hub 4 discount also but no hub 5 for any customer why is that how can i say and that's absolutely rubbish no signal to my upstairs 2 bedroon uk terrace home so small but still no signal advice me and love your videos
Strange why they aren't issuing it out to everyone, guess I got lucky. Hope you get one soon.
Anyone know how i can force just the guest network to only use 2.4ghz ? i want to keep 5ghz also thou on main network , on superhub 5, thx
Anyone know if the Virgin media router supports DDNS ?
Yes, it does support. I work for virgin.
Well done 👏
Thanks. 😎
Does it have WPA3
Yes
@@moto6981 how did you get yours is it a trial. I called virgin media yesterday and they told me it’s not out yet
just installed new hub 5. but we have got old remotes that are used with the mini 360 tivo. When we need to connect the wifi to the mini tivo box, it asks for password but there is no keyboard displayed on the tv screen, hence we cannot enter password as the old remote has no facility to enter letters. Spoke to virgin and they havent got a clue
No idea I’m afraid, wasn’t even aware of a mini 360 Tivo
@@LurgsHowToGuides ok thanks
I'm still on the hub 4. I've not had many problems but soon I am turning off the WiFi and putting it into bridge mode and using amazon eero routers instead. Can anyone answer this for me?
If I do upgrade to a hub 5 can I go into the settings and keep the original SSID and password or will I lose the connection with all my WiFi run equipment?
It will be a pain relinking multiple items such as the Hive, TV, AV receiver Alexa devices etc. Any advice gratefully received. 😊
Mine keeps flashing green ? Been few hours now.
That means it's downloading a software update. Hopefully it's finished by the time you read this.
hI - Virgin wifi are weak out in my kitchen - what do I need to purchase to give additional power?
Virgin do wifi extender pods, have a look at their options.
Thanks a lot mate, very helpful. 🤘🏼
Glad it helped out, been pretty pleased with ours. Seem to get decent WiFi in most rooms. 😎
So you've gone straight from hub 3 to hub 5 why did they not give you hub 4 I was told I couldn't have a hub 5
I never even asked for it, it was an email free offer so I took them up on it.
I've big concern here I tried to enter my hub 5 settings password but it keeps saying password incorrect I've reset the hub 5 and it still hasn't worked
It has to be absolutely identical to the password on the sticker, caps etc. maybe a zero is a letter O etc?
@@LurgsHowToGuides yeah wrote it exactly the way it is on the sticker but it's still saying password incorrect 😭
@@ray-zs9df best contact Virgin
Press the reset (sunken button) on the hub five first, to reset box. then type into your 192 in browser and try the password again on that sticker (above the word sagencom on the sticker)
I found this worked well for me singing into 192 ... On my phone
Very helpful, thank you!
Glad to help out. 😎
Mine has White light but i dont have internet for some reason? Any idea what it could be?
Not sure I’m afraid
Please help because virgin won't. I received the new Hub 5 through email invite. It arrived but only worked for a few days then wouldn't connect to the Internet AND blew up my virgin powerline adaptor that was attached to it!
They sent another hub 5, now this one won't send barely any WiFi to any of my 3 firesticks. I have 200mbps on my phone, laptop, tablet etc but only 0.42mbps on my firesticks, making them impossible to use. Please help! Thankyou
Would love to help but that sounds like it needs Virgin to sort out, hope you get it all sorted.
Still having trouble mine is flashing red atm ?
That means there is a problem with the connection. Have you rung Virgin to tell them you've installed it? I think they have to set something their end
@@LurgsHowToGuides no thankyou for this litualy my first time using Virgin media
I done this but it’s not taking me to that when I put the address in the search bar

how did you order gthe super hub 5 please
I never did, I was offered it in a random email!
Just done all this but my Ethernet ports won’t connect, any ideas why??? Seems I have a odd problem
Not sure I'm afraid. Best contact Virgin on Monday
Much easier to change the name of the Wi-Fi on your new hub to the same Wi-Fi and password as your old hub then you don’t have to reconnect all your other devices
Good to know,, show more
Hi, I have a Virgin Hub 3.0 and it keeps on disconnecting and connecting every few hours, is that something I should be worried bout?
The Hub is disconnecting or devices are disconnecting from the Hub?
If the Hub is disconnecting check connections, power off for 10mins and back on. If still happens ring Virgin they can check it remotely
i would upgrade to hub 4 untill the hub 5 is available and get the wifi pods in the package there ok and do stop buffering and is better for playing video games like fortnite. i used to get
50 ping now i get a better ping on wifi of 30 and ethernet 10-15ping so wifi is definatly improved so is it easier to get ethernet
@@LurgsHowToGuides You can check it online these days and also check the service status.
Hi I was it easy to get the hub 5 ,it’s normally a nightmare getting virgins to do anything?..
I never asked for it, they just randomly offered it in an email. I think they are hard to get hold of at the moment.
OK thanks for the Help
Much better than the hub 3/4?
Seems to have a longer range, not had any issues and it gets used by loads of devices and TV's at the same time

Pl guide how to convert my cable printer to wireless printer.
Is it a wifi printer then? No idea I’m afraid there’s tons of different types of printers. Good luck
need to buy a wireless dongle connect it to the printer not sure how you would send the command over to let it know the device would need to know beforehand honestly cheaper buying a new printer, to be honest.
Hi I just received my hub 5 got it all up and running, and found out it's not compatible with a phone line (yet ) had to send it back ,what a waste of time
Oh dear, not good.
Can't even get 1 of these clowns been on gig 1 over a year and they just won't send me the hub 5
Never get the full one gbps. Don’t think it’s worth it
Hi everyone,
Just wasted most of the day (New Year's Eve) trying to connect our devices to our new VM Hub 5, which was sent as a replacement for our Hub 3.
To save everyone else the same pain and frustration I have included the Tech Support script from my online chat to clarify what happened as Virgin Media don't have a relevant Help Topic (that I could find).
Tech: - "Thank you for confirming, as I can check the new Hub 5 is already activated and connected on your services, however in some of the cases we keep the previous SSID of your former Hub for convenience, so I request you to please connect your devices with the previous SSID and do let me know if you are able to connect and browse the internet?"
This is very different from Lurg's extremely helpful video where the new Hub 5 "VM SSID" is listed in his computer's available WiFi connections.

Where's the link to set up hub 5
Confused, this is the video how to setup a Hub 5
@LurgsHowToGuides my old hub 3 had 4 cables in the back, I put all 4 cables in new hub 5 and it says no Internet. I then done what u did with only 2 cables in and still no difference.
My light won't go white, it's flashing blue and has been this way for more than 2 hours?
That’s odd as that is the WPS connection using the QR code on the back. If internet is working then eventually it should go to white, if not try a simple power off for 30 seconds
Easy steps to setting it up if they send correct power supply
Oh dear!
Hi can you tell me the dimensions of the hub 5 please?
It’s 4.5cm wide, 19cm deep (without cables), 24.5cm high

Crap Hub!! mine crashed and bricked twice, Virgin came yesterday and the engineer said everyone is having the same problem, so he gave me the option of having another Hub 5 or go back to the Hub 3 (which he recommended because of the bugs) so I'm now back to Hub 3. Engineer just left my house after installing hub 4 ! Hub 5 delivered last week wouldn’t work when I installed it and I have been informed that only being sent out to trial with existing customers and not fully tested
I was happy with my hub 3 until virgin turned it off but apparently 4 is the best up to now so be careful
some geniune feedback on this router, if you live even in a mid range house, AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS sure the speed is good, but the range is probably less then my arm span, if your not beside the router on any gaming console on computer, have fun lagging so much you look like you've mastered instant transmission, oh yeah and the boosters? have fun getting them to since they make you take a speed test that measures download and upload speed and if that isnt under 15mbps download well your not getting one trust me ive tried, connection is so bad in my room ive used over half the data on my phone which for reference is 190GBS! so you do the math but nope even with that the connection is still "fine" according to them so if you care for decent speeds, shit not even decent speeds if you care for a stable connection, look elsewhere. unless you live in a one room apartment, then this is probably for you because from what ive seen, this is what this was designed for
I wonder if it's faulty. Ours is in the middle of our house and reaches the whole ground floor and upstairs with no issues.
