- This video was inspired by a subscriber who plucked up the courage to wear a saree in London. She had never worn one before. It got me thinking: why don't we wear ethnic clothing anymore?

Cheerio!
I live in Sri Lanka and trust me over here we are grateful that ethnic clothing is disappearing. Nobody wants to wear sarees and sarongs all the time. It inconvenient and uncomfortable.
Oh Merci Mon Ami, thank you very much my friend ❤❤❤
You're welcome!!
In Ukraine there is a relatively new ethnic clothing day - "Vyshyvanka day" (since 2015) . It is a working day, not a day off - and everyone can come to work or anywhere dressed in our ethnic clothing. From president to train workers. This day became really popular and a lot of people dress like that, and also make photos and post them to their social media.
Oh wow, this is a really special comment. Thanks for sharing!
As an American in a hot climate, I think it's crazy that young guys in south India have abandoned the lungi for skinny jeans. In the heat of Kerala and TN lol. I'm a white guy who loves the two beautiful khadi ones I got from the Kaithari Project.
This is so interesting! We had the worst heatwave in the UK, where temperatures reached 41˚C. This was the highest temperature since records began. Last summer was the first time I was wearing a sarong/sarung at home. I didn't feel comfortable wearing it outside, but around the house I was wearing it. My housemates did ask me what it was because they had never seen it before.
@Anpu the khadi fabrics that Kaithari Project have are gorgeous hand-spun cottons made by malayali artisans. You should look at them - the cost with shipping is very reasonable. A tamil boy should have several ;). The challenge for me was learning to tie and fold and tuck which is something Indians seem to learn as soon as they are old enough to walk. And learning how to manage without pockets, just tucking things into the waist.
Ofcourse one should wear what they like to...indian clothing is made in such a way that it suits all the seasons....I love wearing ethnic clothes....when ppl in india wear western and it's common here why not wear ethnic clothes in west....
Hey, that’s an interesting point that the clothes are made for all seasons. I didn’t consider that. Can you give me some examples of ethnic clothing that people wear in winter in India?
It mainly depends on type of cloth like slik, cotton, woolen u knw what I mean...from north to south of india we have all different types of ethnic clothing where the climate is not same. U can google it...but mostly south ppl prefer wearing cotton sarees, kurtis etc
@@shilpapatalay2436 Oh I see, thank you. With cotton sarees, I wonder if it will withstand the snowy weather here?
I love ur accent vdos....
More accent videos coming soon!! :)

I like some ethnic clothing but nothing too folcloric ... I would never wear German ethnic clothing bc it's too far off and not stylish like things which are functional and have nice colors.
Dude a video on sadhguru's accent would be great!
I didnt know kurta was worn in sri lanka ?
kurta is mostly worn for stage performances by artists, otherwise its typical to wear white shirts
Well it’s the nation own dominance and when they rule the world
That's true. I wonder if ethnic clothing will have a greater place in western society?
I’m Tamil Malayali!
Don't say, I am tamilian. It is totally shame for tamil language. U people are demolishing tamil language.
