    I was seriously considering taking my car to my mechanic as I thought this was going to be a job beyond my comfort zone. But, with the detailed, step-by-step instructions here, I decided to try it myself. Two words: NAILED IT!! Thanks SO much for taking the time to make & post this vid. Couldn't have done it without your help! 😀

    I followed this today on my parents' 2003 Accord EX-L V6. I ordered the Dorman replacement part and the installation was a breeze. The old regulator+motor assembly was in pieces in their door, so definitely had to make sure I wasn't leaving any debris down in there. Had to reach in 6 or 7 times to grab it all.
    Cheers for making a great and easy to follow video. Dealer wanted nearly $800 to repair it, and I spent $65 total and an hour of time.

    Wonderful video! This shows very clearly how to disassemble, take everything out and reassemble the whole unit! The gentleman showing this also explains everything so clearly and detailed that this should be an easy job if you follow his instructions (looking at purchasing an Accord that needs both sides replaced). I've put this in my favorites (Honda - have a Prelude that needs either a new engine or a rebuild).

    Awesome video. Very detailed and easy for all to understand. I replaced the regulator and motor in less than 2 hours. Only took that long because I was trying to do 2 things at once. Thanks for the video. Saved several hundred in parts and labor for sure.

  • @willytingles
    @willytingles Рік тому

    My power window took a crap on me. AAA quoted me $392 for the replacement regulator/motor and almost $200 for labor. I said screw that, looked up an instructional video and found this one. Seemed eminently doable, so I bought the part from Autozone for $70 bucks. Took me less than an hour and only that long because I kept referring to this video to make sure I didn't miss a step.
    I want to stress that I am NOT a car guy. I don't even change my own oil and the most complicated thing I've done to my vehicles over the years is changing a tire.
    Excellent video! Appreciate it and screw the big mechanics! Amazing that it's legal for them to quote you more than 5 times the actual cost of the pat.
    Thanks again!! You got yourself another subscriber.

    Worked like a charm, thanks! Had to get help from a family member and it took about an hour/hour and a half. Part was only $63. Disassembly was straightforward; the hardest part was remembering where everything went when reassembling the door.

  • @JHillNC
    @JHillNC 5 років тому +2

    Thanks! I fixed it in an hour. My electrical clips were tough to pry apart and the glue holding the vapor barrier (plastic sheet) was pretty much welded to the door. They were generous with the glue at the factory that day, apparently. Lol. But it was a cinch. I ordered the regulator/motor assembly from DORMAN off of amazon. They were kind enough to set the height of the regulator so I didn't have to adjust the height before connecting the window to it. It came that way from the warehouse. Thank you for not needlessly talking and carrying on between install steps. Straight to the point. Perfect.

    Great video. I had to install the replacement parts multiple times and finally realized the mechanism that screws into the window and moves the window up and down was by default at the bottom of the rod so we had to reinstall the door a few times to use the door controls to move that piece up into place. Once we aligned it and screwed the bolt through that piece and the window everything worked smoothly, but it took us 2+ hrs. Glad it’s over!

    Thank you, Brian, for detailed, easy to follow, videos! As I went to the store today, my driver window would only close to within an inch of closed! I could hear the motor running, but no window movement! Then, as I closed the door, I heard a "clunk" inside the door. So I immediately went to UA-cam to find how to change out the motor. Fortunate, Autozone had the correct motor / regulator assembly in stock. Here I am 4 hours later, thanks to your videos and AutoZone, with a working power window. THANKS!!

    Excellent video. I was successful and I wouldn't and couldn't have done it without it. One ad lib I had to make was because my window was stuck closed so I didn't have access to the bolts attaching the bracket to the window. I had to cut the bracket half way down with my grinder. The window then came down enough to match up with the access holes.
    Thank you.

    Great video! Just used this to replace driver and passenger side. Nice detail and explanation, I recommend this to anyone that needs to replace these. The only problem I ran into was after 20 years the door handle cables had broken at the connector. They still worked but I would have bought new ones had I known. Windows are back in action. Thank you!

    I just finished doing this and this video was definitely. Keep in mind, my Accord is 15 years old. It definitely presented challenges. Make sure you align the windows inside the grooves in the side so it doesn't pop out of the window frame. Also, the 2 middle bolts that go to the plastic portion of the window regulator; be sure to adjust it accordingly. If you don't, your window will get stick on tbe way up.

    This is a great video. I have a 2004 Acura TL that is almost identical to the Honda in this video. I chose to order the Acura part and not the Honda part which was cheaper but the parts search engine said that it would not fit my car. The most important mistake I made was not remembering to make sure the new part had the window mount lined up with the two holes. If it is not, like the video says you have to hook up the door panel again and with the motor connected place them in the right spot so you can bolt the window to the new part. Another mistake I made was that the window did not seat within the rubber frame. To fix this on the Acura there is a bracket on the side where the speaker is that you can loosen that allowed the window to go back into place. You just have to loosen two bolts. Took me 15 minutes to take apart and 1 hour to put back together. Thanks again for a great video.

    Brother I need your advice and brilliant ideas PLEASE my bro.
    I'm Michael in England by the way brother and own a 2000 Honda Civic EJ9 Hatchback but right hand drive for the Japanese Market.
    So unknowingly I've only gone and ordered a Dorman 741-736 window regulator which is for a USDM Honda Civic's (Passenger side) so have just discovered that the regulators motor electrical plug is a 2 pin whereas on my UKDM Civic (Driver side) it's a 4 pin plug.
    So basically regulator and motor would fit as it's for the right side door, just theres 2 wires and a 2 pin plug instead of 4 wires and a 4 pin plug to connect to my UKDM wiring as my civic is right hand drive and regulators are reversal compared to left hand drives.
    Any ideas to work round this bro? Damn totally my fault I should've known plugs would be different being that RHD - UKDM and LHD- USDM,
    Totally my fault 🤦🏼🤣
    Your advice and ideas would be greatly appreciated please brother,
    Kind regards
    Michael in England

      The glass must not be in the rubber molding/track. So check to see if it fell on out and it slipped on the inside of it and not in the groove.

    As I was driving down the road in my 2002 Honda Accord, my front driver side window slowly started falling and then I heard a crack or something. The button makes a noise, but that's it. I thought I should test the other windows... as soon as I hit the button for the rear driver side, that window slowly went down and won't come up. If I push the button it makes a sound and the area at the top of the window by the trim expands. Based on this probably horrible description, does it sounds like the motor and regulator? Any guidance from anyone is appreciated! Both passenger side windows work fine.

      @@HowtoAutomotive Thanks for the quick response and video. That's what I thought... just wanted to make sure because I'm clueless! I'll be watching this as I try to make the repair. Thanks again.

      When you operate the switch if you can hear crunching or some type of sound most likely this is the problem. If you don’t hear any noise possible or bad window switch or fuse
