    You can tell a lot of thought was put into this tutorial - although I feel like alongside *showing* where the pieces go, you should have also explained what is actually happening.
    From what I understood, it's basically like slotting, kinda like pseudoslotting. You displace each corresponding corner for the buffer piece in the opposite corner (Bottom front right corner) and perform the algorithm.
    The buffer is basically a "storage" corner until it can be swapped into it's correct position.

    • @SikoSoft
      @SikoSoft 5 років тому +1

      Well, to be fair... isn't it?
      I like the 2x2 as well, but let's keep it real: it definitely lacks the complexity of a 3x3. Maybe "for babies" is hyperbolic since normal people won't be able to fix a 2x2 by intuition either, but let's be real and keep it in perspective. Compared to a 3x3 it is a walk in the park. It's all relative though.

    One question: what fraction of the time, roughly can a 2x2x2 be solved without needing multiple "cycles" or flips?
    Half of the time? More, less?
    Thanks!

    • @JPerm
      @JPerm  5 років тому +5

      I just calculated about 17% assuming you have only 1 piece already solved when you start. although I'm not sure if this is accurate. You can technically avoid flipped pieces by the way you hold the cube on a 2x2 to make sure nothing is in its correct spot already and flipped, but this isn't feasible as its faster to just deal with the flipped pieces.

      Kevin Janssen The reason why 2BLD isn’t an official WCA event is because it would just be the same exact thing as without a blindfold for fast 2x2x2 solvers, but for all other solvers, it would be super unfair.
      That’s because once you get fast at 2x2x2, it’s possible to just 1-look a regular 2x2x2 solve, so fast solvers would just do the same exact thing.

    Don't mind my comment, I just wanna list my progress here.
    Day 1:
    A. At 5:00 of the video, I managed to solve the "basic scramble." However, I already knew the pieces/letters to be solved without inspection (as I already watched the video beforehand.)
    B. At 7:15 of the video, I managed to solve the "new cycles scramble." Just like the first scramble, I already knew the pieces/letters to be solved. I did understand the concept (how I'm supposed to find the pieces to solve) but I must admit that my brain hurt that time. Lol

    so J Perm what's the best way to get your cube memorized in letters? right now I'm able to solve it under the table while looking at notes. oh and for everone who wants to trick people into thinking you can solve it blindfolded or just really fast try this scramble R' F R2 F2 U' R2 F' U' R' with white top green front.

    If the buffer is flipped I use a different starting piece. It is easier than a new cycle.

  • @manthandoley6668
    @manthandoley6668 2 роки тому +2

    What to do if the new cycle gets to a solved piece

  • @Reaktron88
    @Reaktron88 3 місяці тому

    FOR CLARIFICATION: The reason why you memorize the first letter of a new cycle is because you actually need to swap that piece with the buffer, and you need to memorize the last letter of a new cycle because you need to put the buffer back.
    The corner twist is actually swapping to pieces and swapping them back but flipped correctly.
