Thanks for the review Phil. Its great that Wishbone are getting this sort of treatment and recognition. Big thanks to Andy Powell for flying the flag for all these years
Man, I love Wishbone Ash music, there was one weird cd I heard by them that didn't sound anything like the band but the rest of their albums all are really good imo, " No Easy Road" is my favorite song from my favorite album by them, Wishbone IV album. I got to see their show in Houston around 2015, they even hung around the bar with a bunch of us after the show, super nice guys.
I glad that Wishbone Ash has a new box set out and I've been a fan for a while and I used to have a couple of their albums at one time. thanks for the review of their deluxe box set thank you Phil.🎶🎤🎸🎸🎹🥁🎶
Hello Phil. I am of the younger generation, 25 to be exact. I am not that invested into Wishbone Ash as I've only really discovered them within the last year or two. I own their first four albums on cd and Just Testing on vinyl. I really enjoy the Argus album. I may have to go back and listen to some more Wishbone Ash after watching this. Very cool box set and a great review as always!
Looks great overall. Thanks for flipping through it, caught myself pausing many times for a closer look. This will have to wait as I've just forked out for Hendrix, Dylan, Joni and especially the Neil Young boxes. Do wish they'd reissue the Vintage Years box;-)
Good as always Phil. I wish the fans all the very best in getting hold of a copy. I recently purchased the 50th anniversary box set of Al Stewart's 'Past, Present & Future' album. It is a great set and there is a live disc of a gig by Al in Hampstead in July 1974. His band for the night featured Laurie Wisefield plus Andy Powell turns up towards the end too. A great musical jam session ensues on a cover of 'All along the watchtower'.
Hi Phil, another really good review. I have the Vintage Years which is a really killer box set, and as you say it's very pricey second hand - only Discogs have it up to press and it's on for circa £1,000. I dread to think.of the postage as it weighs a ton. In respect of this book, as nice as it is it smacks more of - Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) piece than something you must have. I often find you read the book then file it away. The same with the Argos box set £124 for basically Argus lp with a video and cd and book. I think the deluxe double CD of Argus is adequate and a fraction of the cost. What with my latest pre-orders of Opeth, Beardfish, Nektar and the new Neal Morse project, I think I'll put the brakes on this one, it's not cheap either. Keep up the good work. M
Phil nice review. I think having the Vintage Years and Blowin' Free books is probably enough, but I may not be able to resist. I agree that Live Dates not charting is astonishing, not least because it's such a well regarded live album of its era. Has always been a huge favourite here.
This is the sort of thing that Rufus Publishing does so well. Yes they are expensive but they are aimed at the super fans. The only one I have is the Judas Priest one through Rufus and it's a thing of beauty as is this set from Wishbone Ash and Madfish.
Thanks again for this video ... a great addition which I bought for the book / signed print (not so much for the CD which, for me, is not necessarily one I will feel the need to re-visit) ... as you say, the book complements the mega box perfectly. I sat on fence re Argus box set though ... the book looked awesome but a signed print in that set would have swung it ... even if the price point had to rise a wee bit to compensate) ... I am a fan of "both" versions of the touring combos as both put on a great show ... saw Andy Powell et al just 3 nights ago at Lemon Tree gig in Aberdeen where the whole band were, once again, in excellent form ... witb"Deep Blues" especially resonating and, possibly, the best ever "Phoenix" I have witnessed ... great way to spend a Sunday night ... love all eras of the band but, because of timing, I have a real connection to No Smoke Without Fire, Just Testing and the majestic Live Dates 2 set which totally rocks .... A superb band who did things their way ... Cheers, CMcG, Aberdeen, Scotland
As a huge Wishbone Ash fan, I would love to have this book. But man $200 for basically a book is a LOT of money. It's beautiful (and the cd and the signed print is a nice addition) but wow that's a lot of money for those of us on a budget.
Great book and the signed photograph is a nice addition as well, but my god, this special editions are getting more expensive by the minute. I mean 130 quid for a 200 page coffee table book is just ridiculous in my pov. 60 maybe 70 pounds ok, but not twice as much. I'll admit, i'm not a Wishbone Ash fan, but i wouldn't buy anything like this from Iron Maiden either, because at some point we fans have to make a statement.
Could not agree more. Recent Box Sets, Bowie £ 150 , Rory Gallagher £ 130 , The Faces £ 120 etc etc . I would like them but i cannot justify it and I am not paying it . All The Best.
Hi Phil, I hope this comment finds you well. Have you got those Iommi and Hughes LPs that were released last week? I'd love to see you making a video about, that is if you w d up getting them. Thanks.
I'm afraid with having the Vintage Years box set, I already have a coffee table book so don't see the point of getting this as well, especially at the price.
12 min in and yes to me no other band, that had 2 leads, had this synergy. Not to keen on the later stuff after New England and "Live Dates" was a complete mastering disaster.
I've always liked the idea of Wishbone Ash and I keep hearing good things about them, but I just can't get into them. And this is after trying on about a dozen occasions over the various decades gone by.
Well you should start with Argus, if you didn't already. And please try the remixed version of that album, which is better than the original mix (not always the case, and some might still disagree with me, but as you have struggled with this band I would definitely recommend the remixed Argus to you).
Great review on a product for 1, 000 wealthy Wishbone Ash fans! I will live on with memories from their brilliant music.
Wow💥I have always enjoyed Wishbone Ash since the ‘70’s onwards 🎶 Thank you again Phil
🎼🎶🎸🎵✌️
First band I ever saw, Laurie Wisefield’s first tour. Wonderful.
Thanks for the review Phil.

Love Wishbone Ash original members. Thanks for the review.
Great moments in this review Phil, thanks and I will always remember the first time I heard "The King Will Come". Cheers, Pat
Grandios ..Wishbone Ash..boxset and Booklet....great. 🎸
I saw them live in my home town of Waterford I got a signed copy of Argus by Andy Powell and Martin Turner.

Hi Phil, thanks for this very informative video. Wishing you a great day full of music because like you often say: Music Is The Doctor. Cheers Fred
Thought Phil would be gushing over all the memorabilia!
HI PHIL,I would love to get it but only 1000 copies drives the cost up! love the band but this is not fair to the fans! Thanks

Thin Lizzy.
Im sure it's a beautiful package but I can't do £129 for a book.

Nice looking book but not a lot of music
