Is it still worth buying the Linea Mini when the Micra is so much cheaper?!

    The answer is yes. MIni is more commercial espresso in small footprint. The Mini can make 22 back-to-back coffee shots after loss temp stability vs Micra only make 7. Also the internals components in Mini is the same of the Linea Commercial espresso. Micra is fabulous but not replace Mini.

    do you think this would make better espresso than my Gaggia Classic Pro? I mainly drink pour overs or espresso (neat). I make max 2 double espressos a day. Sometimes a flat white.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach

      Definitely will produce a better shot but 6x better? Probably not. There are other machines though that can do more than the Gaggia and don't cost a bomb.

    Great Video! I've had a GS3 for about 8 years. It's a great machine. But if the Micra was available back when I bought the GS3, I probably would have gone with the Micra. Smaller foot print & I only make 2-4 coffees a day.

    So I owned a micra for 10months and now have a mini.
    Had the plumb kit been available for the micra I would have been happier.
    But overall, I think it’s just too small. Head space is really tight, steam wand is small but manageable.

    I actually would have preferred this to be an AV version similar to the Linea Classic S it takes its design cues from. I know a lot of people like the manual paddle... but it's an on/off switch and doesn't do flow profiling like the manual paddle version of the GS3. The steam wand seems mighty small... i wonder if you could replace it with a normal length steam wand. Seems like an ok machine though. I'd wait for the plumbing kit if it only has line level preinfusion.

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Рік тому +2

      I wouldn't tell you to upgrade now but the Barista Pro will fail usually within 5 years so at that time you should consider upgrading as they'll last 20+ years. But La marzocco isn't the only option either, there are plenty of great machines better than the Breville and not as expensive as the Micra. Check out my other videos on what coffee machine to buy.
      One thing I would say you'd benefit from now though is a better grinder that isn't built in. I don't like the built-in grinders as they wreck your machine more quickly. A Eureka mignon or Timemore Sculptor or equivalent grinder will not only give you better coffee now, you'll have it for 20+ years as well. 👌

I like the micra for the faster power on and for the look completely different from the Bianca but I don't like the absence of a timer for the shot and for the impossibility to flow control. @austinschussler713 Рік тому +1

      Is that intuition? Or have you actually confirmed that the plastic portion doesn't leach when subjected to espresso brewing temps? The reason I ask is because plastic is known to leach at high temperatures. Unless there is testing to confirm leaching isn't happening, I'd be weary. And at this price point, I don't want to have to be weary. @@Rydecoffeecoach

    • @Rydecoffeecoach
      @Rydecoffeecoach  Рік тому +2

      No that's confirmed. The plastic they use is pps and a lot of machine manufacturers are using this now to replace brass components because the zinc leeching from brass is actually quite bad. But there's no toxicity from pps even at extreme temps like 200C / 392F

    • @austinschussler713
      @austinschussler713 Рік тому +1

      That is great to know. It would be great if La Marzocco mentions these considerations that they are making with respect to customer health while introducing the new plastic piece. It seems like many others share my concerns around leaching and have replaced the plastic bottom portion altogether. Now that I know the plastic is safe from leaching, I'm all for trying this new style. I really appreciate your time and responses! Which espresso machines do you recommend most for a beginner that are the most health oriented? And by that I mean making considerations like using stainless over brass, using safe plastics, etc..
