Superb once again. Thank you so much Sifu Mark. I'm using elbow strikes more in training and find them very effective and dynamic. I think the way you've shown how you can switch from cover to striking with them is great. Also the hammer fist. I guess that requires good conditioning of the heel of the hand using the wall bag.
Fight SCIENCE : I have been watching You for a very long time & just want to say : The number of 174 K subscribed followers is telling more than any of us could ever do . So : "Thank You so much and keep up the good work" + all the best and greetings from Belgrade , Serbia .
Love just adding things to my tool box! Thanks again Sifu Philips! Always an inspiration to keep my old butt movin!..AWESOME! Time to go back and review your older vids...keeping the mind fresh...😆
I really like this, how you can attack and cover at the same time. I remember getting in a fight last year and I knocked the guy's teeth out with an elbow to the jaw. Keep up the good work!
I love this. The thing with punches is that you can easily break your fingers but with these techniques you're using the hard bone of the elbow which is devastating or the hammer fist which seems better than a punch. can't wait to try these out on the punchbag ☺
Yes I'm still enjoying watching (studying even I guess) your videos, even though I'm usually late commenting. I love that technique. It's odd I don't know if you're familiar with Nick Drossos? He uploaded a similar video on the same day (or maybe yesterday) detailing a very similar technique and drill. He was using a Bob dummy, but I like how you show using it against strikes aswell. When you turn your body to the side to do the groin shot I can also see a backward uppercut elbow to the chin or face followed by another hammer. Those hammer fists can just as easily be checks and I can see multiple clinch opportunities too for head control and finishing blows. Excellent video and thanks again Sifu!
great concepts. While we don't generally use hammer fist in capoeira (although anything is possible these days and there is no rule against) elbows are used frequently in close encounters,
+BlackDolphin90 well we practice Wing Chun, but you could also consider Krav Maga or a grappling style such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Thanks for watching.
excellent Mark, is there any way to condition the elbows without having a wall bag or heavy bag? ive moved to a flat now and dont want to upset the neighbours. thanks in advance.
I think the difference is it almost seems like your using a philly shell and grappling your opponent plus with the hammer fist your targeting the groin and lower ribs and potentially the solar plexes or liver
How can you do that, when it ISN'T wing chun? You are losing the center by keeping your arms next to your head. What happened to the center line? What if he comes with a hook around your hands, or an uppercut? Are you doing wing chun, or are you mixing systems with JKD? Hammer fist is a back fist, with the elbow out, and is also NOT wing chun! I have to disagree with you on this one. It just isn't real wing chun. I know you do modified but you have to keep SOME semblance of wing chun in there or else, what is the point? You might as well learn second-rate JKD then because that is what you are doing, in essence. That's why the ten concepts were designed. To give an outline to proper response in a fight. If you throw away the concepts, you are adding flaws and stiffness to the system.
No, not for questioning the master I don't. YOU are the one who loses if you don't! Do you even DO wing chun, or are you just another idiot who thinks he knows it when he doesn't?
Well, if you do wing chun like you say you do, you should know this shit. So that begs the question, "Why don't you know this?" I have been doing wing chun for quite a while and I know it, so why don't you? If you want to be a GREAT wing chun fighter, not just ok, then you have to know this shit, and the WHOLE SYSTEM, including the footwork, proper way to close the distance and the ten concepts. Do you know them all? Probably not!
Good stuff, simple and effective.
I’m showing this to my wife because in her line of work she encounters a lot of dangerous people thanks 👍🏻

thanks again for another kickass video...with that combo i would hate to be on the receiving end of those...keep smiling
I absolutely love that little smile he does. It makes me laugh every time.
Hammertime!!! Awesome video Sifu. Will be using that for my CPI class for CQC. Thank you!

Reminds me of keysi fighting method

This would be such a great addition to my mma training. Wish your school was not half a world away! haha great video

this is a very important channel

Yes very good!
Nice one. Reminds me of bil jee principles. Thank you.
Just found our Channel very good thank you from the USA
Awesome vid. Can you tell also how to defend yourself against elbows & hammerfists
great concepts. While we don't generally use hammer fist in capoeira (although anything is possible these days and there is no rule against) elbows are used frequently in close encounters,
One of the people caring for me knows Capoeira and he taught me elbows and slaps.
Is there a kicking/kneeing variation to this? Great content as usual guys :)
When training with a mate I say never block without return strike!Offence is attach, how do I email you?
Thanks, how would you counter a knee attack in this situation?
Great video. which martial arts are recommended for learning this style of close quarters fighting? :)
+BlackDolphin90 well we practice Wing Chun, but you could also consider Krav Maga or a grappling style such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Thanks for watching.
It is not about the martial art .. it is about the instructor! If FightScience taught Ballroom dancing, I am sure it would still be deadily!
really like all the video's, well thought out + demonstrated and you've definitely given me a want to attend some wing chun classes...
+Allan Graham excellent, glad you like them. We do try very hard with our content. Thanks for watching. Have a great day.
excellent Mark, is there any way to condition the elbows without having a wall bag or heavy bag? ive moved to a flat now and dont want to upset the neighbours.
thanks in advance.
Roll, or tap a broomstick, against the bony areas you need to condition.
This is similar to Philippine boxing. Awsome
Its good
The close range movements are similar to kenpo
I think this is more like keysi than wing
chun
Also reminds me of the way Batman fights lol
master wong -isms.
KFM?
Looks like the fighting batman did in the dark knight trilogy
This is like a effective version of keysi lol
I think the difference is it almost seems like your using a philly shell and grappling your opponent plus with the hammer fist your targeting the groin and lower ribs and potentially the solar plexes or liver
Try to not block your eyes from your opponent
white shirt is trying hard not to laugh
Trying hard to survive more like it.
Hey that guy has hair
That dude got a long neck

mightymeatmonsta obviously your opinion outweighs Marks experience and abilities. you're welcome to go down to london see how good his wing chun is.
I wonder how much theory do you actually use in a real fight. I like to see you go down to London and spar with Sifu Mark. Good luck mate!

I'm not saying he is a bad master. I am just questioning the technique because it goes against what wing chun is.
