The number 1 thing that boosted me from 4.5k to 5.7k as a support player is farm. Your default should always be farming, if u dont know what to do, if your team doesnt want to do smth. Instead of wandering around the map aimlessly, just farm. Hit jungle, push lane(try not to die). I play strict solo queue 5 random vs 5 random so its difficult orchestrate good ganks or plays. So just farm, next team fight will come nonetheless and when that happens you will have 1 extra item than enemy sups, usually glimmer force eul etc and this will have so much impact.
I just came back from Dota and I mainly play support. I've been frustrated for many games now because cores just tends to farm until the next game. But yeah, I started doing this as well, problem only is that most of the times people just die left and right because they get ganked or try to 1v5. Once, we had a stomp game where our Medusa had free farm for 20-25 minutes, already had manta and disperser. Still chose to farm until 45 minutes. She was 6 slotted and was still farming the jungle 🤦♂
This is so true and easy to implement. I think a lot of people have a skewed idea of what support can be in games. Don’t let your role pigeon hole you into not being the best you can be!
i think the early tower pushing happens because for so many years high mmr players would say "low mmr players never push towers!" i feel like i've heard every single twitch/ dota youtuber say this before.
Early tower pushing is for T1 only to open the map for safer farm, especially mid T1 tower. T2 & T3 should be done after killing 1 or 2 enemy core heroes. Of course it all still depends on the team comp, but that's the gist of it.
I mean to asnwer the first mistake, my friends always says that they find it boring to just farm and farm and they want to fight (of course is the supports who encourage the siege) so... they siege. Of course they siege without their carry (me) and we end up losing almost every game that we have an advantage early on because of that single mistake repetaed many times throughout the match. I'm currently D1 4.7k mmr and my friends are between 3k and 4k most of them. I play with another group where I'm the lowest mmr player but that doesn't happen there lol
As for towers, Taking 1st mid tower is very good but taking sidelanes towers may be delayed because enemy carry can gain a chance to farm with protection of 2nd tower by farming slighlty ahead of 2nd tower. Getting tower denied causes huge loss of gold and exp which should be prevented. On the other hand, taking 2nd tower is very useful, it gives huge map control and squeeze enemy to Highground. Highground push should be made with 5 heroes and nobody should escape before it becomes certain that frontline heroes died. If your carry heroes goes too deep, just try to save from him and say him to get back. Don't escape like chicken, you are safe until Carry hero is killed because enemy heroes doesn't turn backline supports before killing carry heroes until 7k MMR. In low MMR, supports run away, making argument that carry hero went too deep by choice that's his fault, that's why I won't help him which results unnecessary highround fight loses with +30k networth advantage.
I have a bunch of herald friends and all they want is to fight fight fight. I mean they will dive then lose and be 2 3 levels down and they want to keep diving for kills.
I dont agree with the tower one. This only works when ur Team knows how to kontroll the Map. Most Games its just leting the enemy get there farm and u lose ur lead because we dont take the enemy farm.
This is how my games have been recently. We stomp early, then cores just farm our own jungle instead of taking the enemy teams jungle. Then enemies just farms up and get their own items.
I barely see anything like that when stomping early. Instead they usually overestimate their own strength and farm too deep in enemy camps without vision/support and died to enemy core, helping the enemy recover from early stage.😂
Tier 2 and 3s are insanely hard to push nowadays due to fort cd and reset. Such a stupid move from valve tbh. They wanted to make the game pace faster by reducing nc gold but expanded the map and making towers harder to push.
Calling out my boy Rubick with the aether and say that you have to go on pro tracker and then pro tracker has aether lens as a really high percentage buy seems a little sus :)
I'll be honest. I don't think Rubick support is good at all, unless in captain's draft or 2nd phase / last pick, which wouldn't happen for supports. Rubick mid makes a lot more sense. Rubick is probably the most niche hero in dota right now. But hey, we all want to experience that clutch/big play when Rubick shines the most right? Because that's my only motivation when using Rubick.😂
@@hnggg4427 Yes he's very situational and it's hard to get even a second phase pick in pubs as a sup. But to me he's the most fun hero in Dota. Not even for the big plays like stealing black hole or something, I prefer things like Lion stun or Shaman shackles things like that give just so much disable at such a long cast range with Rubick. However if you first pick it and they don't have good spells for you to steal it becomes mediocre at best so I see your point. In those games I just try to pick up every support item I can get and cast it from really far away.

Well imagine u have 5k networth advantage,and the Botom tier 2 tower as Dire,All the Watchers are controlled by u and u have infiltrated wards in Jungles.Mid and Off Feels safe to farm over enemy Side of the Map,while them are relegated to farm the other 2 lanes and the Triangle and The Ancient Camp near to Tormentor.Thats Map Control,u take control over a part of the Map with Towers and Wards,and if they show up,unless u are doing Rosh of Torm,they are dead 100%
hey speed, what about teammates that play really bad in lane or for 2-3 teamfights in a row. Do you lose trust in them for the whole game or just for 1 fights where you treat them as they are not even witht you in the fight? sometimes you simply don't vibe with other people and thats really bad if in lane your gut says go and this guy thinks no lets go back. How do you get in sync with a player your totally out of sync with?
In my case, I just set it in my mind that "this person is unreliable". So I just do everything thinking that person won't cooperate. If it's a party member(this happens most of the time). It's better if you swap lane with others or tell the support if you are core to swap with the other support.
Also in pubs, I usually let them initiate, if they are a hero that has skills to initiate. If they don't, then I just back off and do something else. Worst case and highly plausible is you go, then that person don't bother at all.
Number 6:As a Position 5 player,do not pick a Hero that requires Sinergy with ur Team(Like Bane)u are prolly end with Loosing faith in Humanity on how they can be so braindead to cant only WAIT(and Cancel ur Fiends Grip with Random Ass Invo Tornado or OD W)
Carry players are definitely not the most motivated, they are just straight up the worst at the game and don’t understand any of this stuff except click creeps and get gold And since most of the carry players have an inflated ego, other players have it follow them around and listen to their mistakes

What turns me crazy is that we usually could end the game, if my allies would buy the right items (How to push without armor aura creeps.. the ac or atleast the vlads.. the greaves… But they just buy their lenses, maelstroms, radiances and midases and still want to push… Our lead is wasted in useless items… so i wont go there at all… and then they die with 4 at enemy tower and flame me… I mute em, and try to win alone.. (what usually works, because my enemys buy the same useless items…) Every fight where the enemy trys to kill me, we win., maybe i die but all my allies are full hp and the enemys are all dead..
