The curved area in your livingroom would possibly be good for a reading area. So a couple of really comfortable chairs, table and maybe a cabinet for books. Or, you could fill the entire curve with tropical plants. Depending on the size of plants, you might not need curtains there.

I think I will give the plants idea a miss... we hare terrible at looking after them and also anything tally will obstruct the view. I like the comfortable chairs idea though!

Isnt that bit of space suppose to be the dinning room area for ur dinning table that would give more space in the living room.

With regards to the nook. I think a nice settee that fits into the nook with a coffee table in front. Ideal for morning coffee, reading in the afternoon and pre dinner drinks before moving to the table. The other settee is for watching TV which is separate to the dining area.
I have found one cannot have enough seating areas. Esp when one is seeking solitude.
You might not agree but in many great houses there are a number of seating areas in a room. Something for you to ponder over and consider.

I agree, I think some sort of casual seating, and coffee table or side table, I would also like enough space though if we invite people for a party.

I think we would need to change the dining table if we did that as the current one is bit big for the space and go for something oval or round but a nice idea!

All I want to know is… are you warmer now because of all your remediation work? What is the purpose of the window shutters besides privacy … is it shade, security? The installation of the shutters does not look well executed. I just hope you are warm and comfortable now.

The shutters were replaced the old ones so used the original boxes. Im not sure of the purpose, I think they are are to block the sun when its hot in the summer, its something which is common in mainland Europe. I think the insulation has made some difference to noise and drafts

The new style of shutters have sometimes replaced the old style of shutters and are more secure. Some insurance companies insist on certain security measures if you are leaving a house unoccupied for a certain length of time. Given its location it might have been a holiday home for previous owners.
These shutters for this home doesn’t annoy me but when I stay at some hotels in France they have shutters instead of curtains. One hotel I stayed in had electric shutters so if you wanted privacy they had to come down. They’re noisy! So, if you wake up in the night and want to look out of the window you can’t without waking up your partner and possibly the neighbours either side of you!

@@amayastrata4629 Its quite common all over mainland Europe to have these shutters, they are on the upstairs floor high up so I dont think they are needed for security and the old ones were wooden slats. I think they are more to block the sun when it's hot. Its less drafty but I wouldn't say warm but we are not heating some of the rooms and hopefully we are now over the coldest part of the year
