Pros: can be more stable : if they are not too wide, some of them can filter through traffic? Can require no foot down at lights.
Cons: much more complex, suspension steering, more to go wrong; and expensive to fix!
If too wide, you cannot filter through the traffic and you just get wetter waiting in traffic jams, when it rains!
Expensive to buy, difficult to park, won't fit in normal motor cycle bays, need a car parking space!
Thus you decide if they are better overall than two wheels?
For the width issue, go for the Yamaha Tricity! It filters through tight traffic like any other bike!

If you're looking for three wheelers, The can am Ryker or the Spyder should be the easiest to find in NY.
Only two types of people ride trikes, bikers that for health or age reasons, and those who don't or won't learn how to ride a motorcycle so they get a limited trike endorsement. A sidecar on motorcycle is not a trike, you have to have a motorcycle endorsement to ride it.
