  • Join us as we climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on the 8 day Lemosho route. We chose ClimbKili as our tour operator, and our guides Manny and Singha got us to the top. Some of my clips got shuffled on Barranco Wall and summit night, but this will give you an idea of what to expect if you’re considering this amazing journey. 🏔️

Thanks for your 1st hand account of the Lemosho route. Branco Wall is the only thing making me nervous. Especially around that "kissing rock".

The Barranco wall was so much fun. Don’t overthink it. It looks way worse than it actually is. Also, the kissing rock is about an 8’ drop, at most. And, your guide will help you across. It’s not nearly as scary as social media and others make it out to be. Barranco isn’t as vertical as it looks either. We see it from afar in 2D, but it’s mostly switchbacks (albeit with some scrambling).
      You can do it!

Thanks for sharing this. How did you guy tip them? And how was it split? I'm doing this in a week. Any other tips?

We tipped $500 per person ($1,000 total), and it was divided among them by the guide. We chose how it was divided. The lead guide, for example, got $150. The assistant guide $120, and so forth. Try to really take in the moment. I didn’t do that, and was more stressed about making it, weather, not getting hurt, etc. It’s an incredible experience! Let me know how you do!

@@mjm11983 Thanks for sharing! I will report back when done (around 18th). Seems like there is so much info out there and it's a bit overwhelming sometime. And yes I feel like I've done enough preparation and now time to just enjoy the journey. I'm in similar age group (and decent shape) as you and not worried much not making it (will obviously turn around if the elevation sickness get too bad). Did you take any vaccinations for the trip?

@@CauseOfFreedom-mc7fxI got the typhoid and hep B vaccinations. Kept my Covid up too. That’s really it.
I’ll say this is 90% mental. You adapt to the physical uphills. They’re hard, but not that hard-even summit night. But the mental part took its toll on me.
I don’t know how to exchange info on here without posting publicly, but but I’d absolutely love to hear how yours went after.

@mjm11983 I took most vaccines and will be taking malaria pills. I'll staying there about 3 weeks after the climb so just want to take all the precautions. Did you take Diamox btw? I'm doing the 5day climb and planning on taking it.
Thanks for the tip. I feel like I'm mentally strong and really want to do this so I'll endure most discomforts and some pain but who knows how I'll react when it comes down to it. But I'm really excited and looking forward to it and we'll find out it goes lol
