Somewhat helpful. My KTM kit has an LCD display with a temp sensor and thermal grease - not sure how or where that gets attached. Also, not convinced that the fuel tank needs to be removed on my 2017 250 XCW.
you have a different kit, the temp sensor and thermal grease in your kit gets inserted between the fins at the top of the radiator, you can then control when the fan turns on and off, with the LCD display. Your kit is made by trail tech and the install instructions should be on their website. The kit in this video is controlled by the ECU with no temperature readout, therefore making it a cheaper alternative to the trail tech kit.
Any idea on where to add or if you have to add a relay on the 24 ec300? The kit I got didn’t come with a relay, but installed the exact same. There is no spot for relays like this one under the seat in the 24.
Superb video - thanks so much. Added fan to 300 exc 6 day this evening after a few boils on hard enduro. Hoping does the trick. Did it solve any boiling issues for u ?
Thanks for the video mate, just did my fan and works a treat. Appreciate your vids. Would love a video on how u did your kill switch and if u ever put a phone charger in I would love that
It looks to me like it can be done with the rad in place not chance of getting an air lock ,is that correct? . Nice and clear video look forward to seeing more of your content,I’ve subscribed so I don’t miss any thanks for making it 🏍️👍
it's possible, but there's a good chance you wouldn't be able to install the screws on the frame side of the radiator to hold the fan mounting bracket in place. but its possible that the fan would still operate fine. it just might not be as stable. thanks for watching!
We can’t get EC 4 strokes in the States. Only the EX. Anyway, on my EC300 2 stroke this is the kit I used. I just picked up an EX250F and according to the dealer the fan kit with the digital temp gauge and probe is the only one that will work on the EX. I don’t know if that’s true. Still trying to confirm. I’d rather have this kit.
yeah I'm also not sure if thats true or not, but I use the technical accessories section on the gasgas website to see what aftermarket/ oem options are available for my bike. maybe this kit may be listed under the ex250f
@@Booki89 no cat in the exhaust, the dealership removes a lot of the stuff not required here in Australia, in other countries that stuff is left on. And yeah it also has the rubberised sprocket in a bag of parts that came with the bike, but the bike had a solid front sprocket installed when I took delivery
@@brysonaverett6661 it sounds like you may have a different kit to this one if you're able to set the temperature. this fan kit's on/off temp is pre-determined by the ECU
that is odd, sometimes the plug is tucked away zip tied up in the loom somewhere but since this is a factory ktm fan kit the plug should be there on all late model bikes.
I dont have a connector on my bike for this fan. I have a 2024 gasgas ex 350f, and i have the same fan you have in this video. But i have no connector.
As far as I know, the ktm factory kit in this video is only plug and play with the enduro models. I think a few people tried to install this kit on cross country or motorcross models and couldn’t find the plug under the tank for it and had to come up with another solution. But if the kit you’re looking at says it fits, I guess it does
@@jackkellybuilds you did it the correct way. If you look at the KTM manual for the fan it says to install the screws from the opposite end that you did. Obviously this is incorrect because the screws won't hold. I just installed the factory fan on my 2024 KTM 250 XCW. Also you don't need to remove the radiator completely. I removed just the top hose and angled the radiator slightly to get to the 2 mounting screws. Lost barely any coolant this way. Thanks for the vid!
$10,000 bike overheats and blows a head gasket if it idles to long. They must be living on some other planet. Engineers who I have always suspected as being disconnected from reality really screwed up on this. No excuse for a bike to over heat just sitting and running the bike. Maybe I want to just let it run for 30 mins to listen to the motor. Oh I forgot, it’s a 4 stroke so it’s sounds stupid anyway so no need to let it idle.
30 mins is a long time to let anything idle without a means of airflow. I installed the fan for when I'm doing tough hillclimbs when the rpm's are high, but I'm not moving very fast to help the bike stay cool. thanks for the comment
No excuse for a perfectly good running 4 stroke to overheat at idle. I just got one and damn near blew a head gasket not knowing these things are a piece of junk as far as design. Maybe I want to sit a listen to my bike but can’t do it unless it’s got a high powered fan on it. I even heard these crap bikes overheat if you don’t ride fast enough. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. There are many days most people just want to ride slow all day just to relax
Now that's a video I like ! Short and detailed. Congratulations, it was helpful! Cheers from Transilvania!
Glad it was helpful!
Just put a fan on my 2022 TE300. Video was great. Thanks for sharing
Thanks mate, glad it was helpful!
Very helpful, great video.👍
glad to hear!
Excellent and concise video!
Thank you!

because that is a new model year im not sure unfortunately
For 24 model you dont need relay. Just plug in
Great Video! How does the cooler know what the temperature is? Does it still work if i have a thermostat bypass?
there is a coolant temperature sensor on the side of the cylinder head so yes the fan will work fine if you have removed the thermostat

Thank you, yeah I haven’t boiled my bike since I’ve installed the fan and we do some pretty slow and steep climbs. So I’d say it helps a lot!
@@jackkellybuilds same here. No boiling this weekend doing the snotty stuff and fan worked a treat 🙏
Thanks mate I love your vids. Where did you get your fan from? And how much?
I purchased it from a local ktm dealer, can't remember how much though sorry

Yeah only on one side
Thanks
Great video mate! I'm looking at buying a ec250f . Subbed 👌

@@jackkellybuilds Random question - What did yours come with? Was the cat still in the exhaust? Did it have a rubber assisted front sprocket?

My plug isn’t the same as on the bike. 23 ec300 and so I hard wired it and installed the fan relay and it’s still not kicking on. Any ideas?

you might have to get creative with the fitment and wiring but I think it has been done before
wow very easy
Thanks a lot 😊
For some reason my gas gas 2021 ex250f does not have a plug anywhere near the front of the bike
this is only for the enduro variants eg, EC, EXC or FE

I think the plug will either be tucked up in the harness or is only on the enduro models
Hi. Is that the same for a 2 stroke gasgas ec250 2021? Thanks
yes
Looks nothing like my 2024 300xc. Great video however.
thank you, this video only applies the the enduro models, not motocross or cross country models

Works whit mc450f 2024? Thank u men
no
Nice mate. Did you notice the bike getting hot in tight slow stuff or is this just a preventative measure?
yeah I boiled it over a couple of times on some steep and slow climbs, so hopefully this helps, otherwise ill also get a coolant overflow tank
Do you know if this can be done on a husqvarna fc 250
No, will only work with enduro models
