I just got started in pipe smoking. I have smoked cigars for a couple years prior. Just got my first pipe and tobacco today. A Peterson dracula xl90 and Borkum Riff Cherry cavendish. All thanks to you! I mean that in a good way. Keep it up!👍

That's awesome I smoked cigars first and moved to pipes and really enjoy the difference. Some people moving from cigars find aromatic blends like the cherry Cavendish you got harsh. Make sure to try a non-aromatic like a Virginia or Virginia perique blend or even an English may taste more like cigars and you may find it more enjoyable.

If you get tired of the tongue bite while learning with aromatic tobaccos try the old codgers like Carter Hall, Velvet, or Prince Albert. They taste and smoke well and have a lot less tongue bite. Check out "Mutton Chop" videos.

On the first lighter that you showed, the top is made that way to rest your cigar on. I have one that is curved on the sides, that’s a nice feature. Your videos are always enjoyable to see. Merry Christmas!

Best presents for a seasoned pipe smoker. Gift cards to their favorite tobacconist, pipe cleaners, bic lighters.
I would never burden someone with picking a pipe out for me, or gods forbid a tobacco. It’s too personal of a hobby. Same reason I don’t let people buy me books, I’m too picky

I'm not the most expired pipe smoker, but for sure can tell you that many things for pipe smoking can be done at home!
My propositions for a gift-giver would be:
    - leather stand for a pipe, very simple to make (just use old belt with nice leather and add a nap, rivet or glue), looks great, can be customized quite easily and can be make into a keychain for example
    - home-made tamper, there are lots of option depending on your skill-set and tools, but very nice looking tamper can be made just from piece of antler or horn which was sanded suitably (something like 10 mm of side which goes to pipe works well, at least for me)
    - pipe pouch, you can saw something like this very easily from two rectangles and add piece of lace to close it, in my opinion tweed-like material works really well and looks amazing
    - the last thing could be an interesting second-hand pipe as restoring pipes is not that hard and doesn't require specialised tools, second-hand pipes, at least in Europe and be found as very interesting in shapes and quite cheap

I didnt see you mention it so thought I would. Zippo has a pipe specific lighter that is awesome!!
As well if you like a butane lighter for cigars zippo makes an insert to replace an existing one and it uses butane.
Pretty much all your needs can be met by zippo and they come in many different covers. So they are easy to customize. 😉
    Love the videos!!!! Cheers 🍻

Just my two cents. A Missouri meerschaum cob can be a nice pipe for less than 20. I personally enjoy the country gentleman but they have some very fun designs like their cobbit churchwardens or the macarthur which are very tall chimney pipes. Additionally you can get a nice clay pipe like an old German clay by Markus Fohr. The clays are the stereotypical long churchwarden tavern pipes. Both are quite cheap but good quality and are a fun novelty to mix in the rotation of tobacco pipes and can be a nice cheap gift that are totally functional.

Came for beginner pipe tutorials a few days ago, hooked by the video editing quality, stayed for the life lessons, joined the Discord group. I don’t know what I’m doing.
As a “content creator” myself, I notice video quality in different ways than others typically. Story telling is phenomenal. Your audio, when outside (in other videos) is always so good.
Question: Do you use a lav or just a shotgun mic?
    Love the stuff!!

Am in remission, but gagging for a smoke. Am I safer with a pipe or a cigar? Only joking, enjoyed your video. Very relaxing. Used to smoke pipe and cigar, 50 years ago.

That was also my first pipe tobacco. Taste like hot air. It's difficult to say what you should smoke, since it's always about what preferens you have. I would recommend you try a virginia/perique, for example McConnel Scottish flake, or what I am smoking right now Samuel Gawith KC flake. If you want something with a more vitamin N hit you can always go for Peterson Old Dublin. My favorite, that I can't get hold of in my country is Elizabethan Mixture, a Virginia/perique that is absolutely delightful.
But, with this hobby, you kind of have to experiment and find out what you like for yourself. I have a friend who enjoy pure Lathakia. Don't get me wrong, I like Lathakia in a blend but not pure...To strong for me..

12:46 that lighter is crap💩. Never light a cigar or pipe with a lighter that has lighter fluid in it.
