Great staging advice, and so much of it is valuable even if you aren't selling your home. How many sellers have scrubbed, painted, repaired, and decluttered - only to then stand back, look at their own homes with fresh eyes, and fall in love with it all over again just as they're trying to sell it? No house started out bad. Every house was a charmer when it was brand new, regardless of size, the materials used, or configuration. A clean, tidy, maintained home REALLY adds to an owner's sense of peace and control. And, when it comes time to sell, there will be a lot less to do!
So true! I just had a seller come thru after staging and he said “I want to buy this house again!” 😍
I staged myself 25 years ago after decluttering and painting. I took out almost all the decorative items. Used a white coverlet to allow the bedroom to feel brighter and larger. New white towels in the bathrooms. I put a drop of lemon essential oil in the toilet bowls to give a fresh, neutral scent to the bathrooms. I was asked repeatedly if I was a decorator (I’m not). I sold by owner.
It's crazy how simple it can be isn't it? Did you go with a neutral paint color?

Thanks for the feedback Brenda! I am always experimenting with this. Hard to find balance on platforms. I have done some videos with no music at all. Wish there was an option for individualizing!!

@@ellenfoster9764I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately it’s not something I can change on this one but I am trying to make sure it’s low enough on my new ones! I think a lot depends on the device you are listening on too. I’m not a video editor you know? But I’m learning! And I don’t like it when music is distracting either!

keep blinds/fresh sheets/
clean bath room- brushes/shampoo s/tooth brush/ lights on /smell good/
Make it look pretty
clean the front door/
Clean windows
Clean floors/ mop
Clean appliances
Clean fridge m
Declutter like a pro
Get a bunch of boxes-remove family photos
Minimize any distractions
Visual appeal.
Fresh paint/decorative pillows/

Oh Stacy! I'm so sorry, I appreciate the feedback and I've heard that a bit. I get distracted easily too and the levels are fine when I listen on TV or my computer but when I listen with headphones it's too much. I have sense started to hardly even use music in my other videos....so hopefully if you browse my channel you'll find some more great content and info without the distractions! I spent $4,000 painting my home to sell. It was a slight warm white.
My buyer ended up repainting in a cool white.
I'm never painting again apart from baseboard touch ups.
Oh goodness isn’t that frustrating! The painting for showing is really just to give your home a fresh feel and so buyers have a clean canvas to imagine themselves there. Most buyers are absolutely going to change the paint colors! A lot of things you do to prep for sale the buyer will change. You might spend $2000 in landscaping and they pull it all out bc of preference, but nicely manicured beds and freshly painted walls are eye catching, inviting, and make really good first impressions which usually leads to faster and higher offers, there are always exceptions. Cleaning a HOME is NOT staging‼️
True! 😂 but staging doesn’t do much good if the house is dirty! The idea is to present the house in the best light possible so cleaning is an essential step!
@@listwithlydia I’m a professional Stager…. So of course I am going to be bias. However, yes a clean home is extremely vital for selling a home 😄
@brigettejohnson4019 well I certainly respect your profession and if you’re near Dayton Ohio let me know! I give advise to folks wanting to sell their houses themselves too but it doesn’t mean I recommend it 😉. I’m curious do you bring in furniture or use what they have or both?
