Reminds me of that song "Mad dogs and English men go out in the mid-day sun" - more like "mad dogs and and train spotters go videoing trains in a blizzard !!" - Admire your dedication Pete !
Thanks, Graham. I didn't expect it to snow as heavy as it did near the end. And we all know what the weather man says 🙄 can be wrong 😆. Glad you enjoyed it .
That is the second time you have not looked at the weather forecast recently, Charlie will be beginning to doubt the master soon. Good video am watching it indoors in the warmth!
Lol. I had, but I didn't believe it would be like it was. As they said we probably get rain. We were well prepared anyway. But we were glad to get home. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Love the funnel water tower in the background, of the opening sequence. There is one near me in Melbourne, Australia, a reminder of the steam days. Great video despite the conditions. Dave in Oz
Many thanks, David. Appreciate your comment and information 👍. It's massive that water tower. I use it as a focal point when I'm filming. There's not many of them left around now.
Wow !!! what can i say to that Pete ? Was gonna say are you nuts going out in that weather but hey was it worth it 2 sets of back to back HSTs for starters with everything in between and a bonus ball 69/66 + 2 cranes at the end. Just fantastic footage mate, well done and thanks for sharing. Take care, Colin.
Many thanks, Colin. Really appreciate that. It was definitely worth it in the end. it's the first propper snow filming and the traction was spot on I think. I missed the 69 going to Scunthorpe and I thought I'd missed it coming back. So I was surprised and pleased when it came creeping under North Bridge. Stay safe mate
Good on you Pete, i thought we had it bad down here in Leicestershire, was siling it down when i got up this morning and it hasn't stopped all day. Those last few shots were very atmospheric and no shivering from the cameraman despite the cold. Loved Mexborough and sleet, happy memories.
Many Thanks Roy. 😊 it was a bit of a surprise how much came down. It was like been back in time lol. And now you would never had thought it had even Snowed. Glad you enjoyed it mate. 👍
Thanks, mate. Yeah, it's definitely a 66. It's been sat in Roberts Road Shed for months. So it was good to see it out. And yes, the HST power cars are operated by Colas, hence the logo which you saw.
Loved to have been out in that with you both, I think Charlie was with you, looked like him, coming off the Bridge at Swinton. Anyway another great video, thanks a lot Pete.
Thnx for a great video as everyone else has said trains and snow go together. I thought some of the drivers would have shown a bit more compassion and given you a good blast on the horns, as you were filming in that weather.
The blue ones with DRAX written on them are imported wood chips headed for Drax power station near Selby to get burned for electricity generation instead of using coal.
Great footage Pete and i especially enjoyed the narrating right at the beginning mate, very informative. Note to David Attenborough....your job's quite safe buddy have no fear. P. S: enjoyed Josh's cameo role 😂
You deserve a medal for being out in this awful weather, just to bring us some lovely train footage, while sat in the front of the fire with burning logs and a lovely cuppa in my hand. LOL. Some lovely footage. At least you had some company, was it too cold for Charlie today,
Thanks for that, Ernest. I hope you were toastie warm with your Brew 😆 🤣 Glad you enjoyed it, mate. It was a bit different filming in the snow, especially when it got heavier. Good job, my phone is waterproof!!! Charlie was fine. He had his coat and his big blanket.
well Pete you picked a right day to go train filming Vut we really do appreciate your bravery 10/10 matey you want a medal for that day out , it was really blizzard like back at donny many thanks for turning out in that lot do be careful and stay safe a t b syd 😰👍🦮🎿
Hardley any snow . again the fake media told us 10" ....a dusting in the midlands , half an inch in the peak district. Always wrong, nothing but clickbait. in fact, i am still waiting for the snow at Christmas 2023
真的謝謝你,在這惡劣天氣下 還拍出美好的作品共享!( 來自台灣的祝福!) 🤩🤩❤🤩🤩

😆 Thanks Malcolm 👍 Glad you enjoyed it. TBH I actually didn't think it would actually snow. But it made it a bit more special.
You can't bet a bit of snow and some good trains on a very cold day I'm told Pete.
Freight trains and snow is a great mix, cheers. Mike.
Thanks Mike Glad you enjoyed it. It turned out better than expected tbh. And I wasn't expecting as much snow what eventually fell .
Great dedication Pete , catching up on all your recent releases.

Lovely video Pete! I never knew 66306 was a 66! And also, i could have sworn 43321 had a colas rail logo on the side.
Thanks, mate. Yeah, it's definitely a 66. It's been sat in Roberts Road Shed for months. So it was good to see it out. And yes, the HST power cars are operated by Colas, hence the logo which you saw.

Mad weather. As you know I'm only a few miles away and we had no snow whatsoever.
Thnx for a great video as everyone else has said trains and snow go together. I thought some of the drivers would have shown a bit more compassion and given you a good blast on the horns, as you were filming in that weather.
What is in those containers? What gets transported by train these days?
Rails, chemicals, motor fuels, shipping containers, wood chips for biofuels, iron ore, steel, sand, gravel, cars, coal, timber, food and drink, bitumen, gypsum, nuclear waste, ...
The blue ones with DRAX written on them are imported wood chips headed for Drax power station near Selby to get burned for electricity generation instead of using coal.
