Every time the board is cleared, it singles out a few words, bringing them together to form a single short statement. First time he clears the board, it says: "SHE'LL BELIEVE AN THING" (missing the Y in ANYTHING) Second time: "SHE CAN T SENSE TIME" (missing apostrophe in CAN'T) Third time: "HE IS BOTHERED BY LI HT" (missing G in LIGHT) ...is the statement that forms at the end completely random or is there some correlation between the amount of words remaining or of the words that were cleared prior to clearing the entire board with the "Hyduken" move, which then forms the end statement? This is nothing short of absolutely stunning! So intriguing and ridiculously creative!
@@yukko_yoshidawhat I meant was, is there a reason to why the statement that forms at the end says what it says. After the board is cleared, a few remaining words come together to form a statement. I was just wondering how that statement is formed and if it is somehow affected by the words that are cleared prior to the entire board being cleared. I was just curious. It's an amazing work of interactive art, none the less.
Sam Sung That's neat and all, but those boards are absolutely ancient and require quite a bit of work to get going. That, and the site will run out of supply sooner rather than later. The ones in this video are made by alfazeta and cost 550€/panel with USB or RS422 control. I have a huge old BUSE BS110 19x140 panel myself, which I reverse-engineered and made work(sort of, haven't assembled the final controller).
1) That boy in blue is absolutely beautiful 2) Whatever the camera is on causes insane microphonics that should have been figured out first. 3) This is pretty awesome.
What makes you think #2 . Note that each output pixel is a mechanical plate being flipped by a magnet, so there's a click from each change. Due to power consumption, control system can only flip a few pixels at a time.
This needs to be an actual billboard connected to a camera on a pedestrian bridge with a view of it... So the cars passing by can see the people walking by messing with the words and stuff.
Eh not really. Each panel has a controller board which handles the heavy lifting. And I'm sure they have a Q' out (like shift registers) so you can easily parallel them. Would be fun to experiment with them.
I've been meaning to ask this: besides the awful grammar, why did the programmer put a "]]]]]]]]]]]]" at the end? Seriously, when the guy programmed this bot, what the fuck was going on in his head when he decided, "I'm going to put a shit ton of square brackets at the end so people will notice it (and mark it as spam) faster"? Did he really think that would help him?
You should TOTALLY record this with Stereo sound. That would sound so nice.

well the movement area isnt the whole board so he kinda needs to at the end

This looks very much like a display at Landmark Center in Boston, near the Timeout Market. Is that you guys?
The Landmark Center is one of ours. This video is very old - back when we were first starting to experiment with this type of tech.
@@andrewzolty9927 that's awesome. It literally stopped me in my tracks the first time I saw it. Absolutely gorgeous! Great work :)

but can it run crysis?
I could make this...if those flip dot displays weren't so damn expensive.
I don't know why it feels so vintage even though it's a really new technology.
Sudden hand movement when streched, will disappear all the words and its hidden sentence is formed by the remaining letters.

Cool idea... But, might not be smart to display for the cars driving by.
That'll cause a lot of traffic collisions by distracting drivers!
Check out this one that they made... It's outside on the sidewalk, kinda like what you're suggesting...
