After being pulled from the ground and then trimmed severely, bare root roses are covered in wax which prevents the pruned stems from drying out as they will be in cold storage during the winter months.
Oooh this is exciting to see. I'm in SC so we shouldn't be too far behind your Lowe's. The Autumn Twist azalea is on my list to get this year so hopefully they will be at ours too!
Can't wait until our stores start getting in some plants too! Even if we aren't buying just being around them all is such a mood booster!😁 (Zone 6b, Missouri)
Re: pansies, I'm in 9b south TX and i started Flirty Skirt pansies from seed 2 years ago. Transplanted to large containers and after blooming thru late May first year, i cut them back. Lo and behold when temps began dropping ibto low 80s i saw new growth. I fed them, kept watered, and they bloomed heavily up until only hard frost in January! Cut them back, mulched, and following late February they popped back out and bloomed again! Just saying sometimes in hotter climates you can save your pansies with care.
Hi there. You are right though, sometimes some extra care will help them come back or last longer in our hot climates. Would love to start them from seed this year.
I really wish Home Depot & Lowes carried more natives to our areas. Also, do you know if Home Depot & Lowes stopped selling plants treated with neonicotinoids? They were supposed to stop years' ago, but I don't know if that ever happened.
Just a headup, the likelihood of finding cherry trees at lowes is super slim. Ive been hunting them for years with no luck. For the Black Tartarian variety, I would suggest buying it online from Stark Brothers. I just checked and they have the variety you want in stock, and its on sale in bareroot form .
He bought the Bing from Home Depot. We've been looking in stores all over but it definitely looks like it's going to have to be an online purchase for sure. Thanks so much for checking.
A few days ago I was excited to find a variety of fruit trees at Home Depot. Espalier pear tree and cherry trees that produce four different types of cherries just to name a few.
I don’t have the mountain snow piarius. I might try that. I think I’m definitely going to try encore azaleas. Thank you so much. Never tried azaleas. I like white.
@@gardeningonpurpose3334 yes. I planted spinach, kale, broccoli & garlic for the first time having a fall garden. It has been exciting gathering & eating the vegetables this season. I have started tomatoes & bell peppers germinating inside. Hopefully will have them planted & under the grow lights soon!
I wonder why no one seems to carry Peace roses anymore. They didn’t used to be so hard to find but now I’ve only found a couple of sources online and the prices are insane.
I think that's what your colored roses are grafted to. Like a base. You may have trimmed off the grafted on part. If you request a catalog from David Austin Roses you get a Rose care book. Lots of information. And Beautiful hardy Roses.
Mine bloom prolific in spring and summer.. then has fewer blooms in the falll.. but blooms none the less. I have mine in 6 hours of sun and they seem to like that.
I'm definitely going to try.. and they are not that expensive either. I don't know why I never got around to buying once since I love them so much. Thanks so much
I’ve had a celest fig in 9b clay soil for probably 15 years, I’ve never fertilized it, very drought ( and flood ) tolerant. Mine gets part shade and produced lots of figs, although they might be larger in full sun with fertilizer
i just love your videos like this, stellar!
Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Thank you for sharing this video! I know I will be heading to Lowes tomorrow! Your voice is so easy to listen to!
Thank you so much. I hope you get some great finds at Lowes tomorrow.

❤owh.....when you put it on the ground in spring, what happened to the wax?
Melted away by the sun & shoots coming out when its warmer?
I went to Lowe’s garden section yesterday and I walked out. Their prices went up and are insane!
Oooh this is exciting to see. I'm in SC so we shouldn't be too far behind your Lowe's. The Autumn Twist azalea is on my list to get this year so hopefully they will be at ours too!
Hopefully any day now your Lowes should start stocking. I absolutely adore the autum twist too.
You have a beautiful voice! So soothing.
Thank you

They should be coming your way soon... and I totally agree

I'm not sure. I think a nursery might be the best bet for natives.

I think I got that cherry tree at Home Depot the other day... as I got a black and a bing cherry but prices are a bit higher.
I'll definitely check them out. Thanks so much

Yayyy..that's exciting. Would love to find one of those for sure.
What state are you in?
I don’t have the mountain snow piarius. I might try that. I think I’m definitely going to try encore azaleas. Thank you so much. Never tried azaleas. I like white.
The Pieris is beautiful. You'd like it. The Azaleas do really great in the south. I'm hoping it goes on clearance and I'll grab a few.
Our Lowe’s never has evergreens on clearance. I’m always looking.
It's interesting how the stores are so different for sure. But don't give up.. they're out there.
Excited to see Lowes might stock an Eden Climbing Rose like David Austen! Thanks for this video!
You are welcome
That doesn’t look like original Milland Eden. It looks like a Pink Eden though
Good morning and thank you for sharing 😊
You're welcome.
Hello! I’m a new subscriber & just found your channel! You are my neighbor as I am in Anderson SC, just across the line from Ga. ❤.
Hello and thank you neighbor. Have you been out in the garden yet?

Hi there. I'm not sure. The plant would has been changing a lot. I haven't seen a Peace rose in the stores. Maybe online vendors do.
Great I’m needing Lambium. Goody arborvitae are beautiful and I’m in 8b. Get one. They are expensive.
They are. I'm new to arborvitae and low on space..but I love their look for sure.
Roses look very nice!
Thank you
That rose with several colors is probably a grafted rose .
Thanks. It's a beauty for sure.
Spring is near!
Still nothing by us in Wisconsin, zone 4 😢
Hopefully soon. Seems as though the south and the west get inventory first due to temps..... don't worry
I buy roses and plant them. Then the next year or 2, turkey come back a different color, they all turn red.
Wow really. That is interesting. I never knew that could happen.

I buy out of season, those azaleas will be on clearance in April
If you want great deals on flowers, get a Costco membership!!
I've got a Sam's Club membership and it's more convenient and has great deals on plants as well.monsters! no Costcos near me.
My encore azaleas bloom 2 times a year. 2 out of 5 bloom beautifully. I’m
Guessing those get slightly more sun. I want to move the other 3. 😭
Mine bloom prolific in spring and summer.. then has fewer blooms in the falll.. but blooms none the less. I have mine in 6 hours of sun and they seem to like that.
@@gardeningonpurpose3334 ok I should move them then to a slightly sunnier location then. I bet yours are gorgeous
Costco currently have 2 pack bareroot roses for $15.
Nice. Sasly, No costcos close to me though.
My Lowes doesn't have these
Do the tags tell about how strong is the fragrance?
Hi there. I've only noticed that some will say "lightly fragrant" or just "fragrant"
My lowe's always out of stock of plants that I want
If you're not subscribed, please do so. I can't believe how few subscribers there are.
Thank you.
What zone are you in. Hardiness zone
You should grow a fig! You almost can't kill them here in 8a/b 😊
I'm definitely going to try.. and they are not that expensive either. I don't know why I never got around to buying once since I love them so much. Thanks so much

👍 "Promo sm"
Never shop at Lowe’s
They’re terrible
Hello. You had a bad experience with them?
