Rediscovered my unit after putting it in the closet for several years. I like to hook my phone to the unit and record music onto cassette. Like to listen to cassette tapes.
Keep up the great work. Your channel quality and effort put into the videos is awesome considering the amount of subscribers you currently have. Very soothing and enjoyable commentary with lots of interesting info as well. Cassettes are awesome.
Hey thanks so much! It really means a lot to me. I just feel like I'm blabbing on. I really do try and put some effort into these videos. A few hours to shoot and a lot more to edit. A quality mic and a little background music go a long way too I think. Cheers!
I just got a second-hand one of these, & it's really nice! The only thing I don't like is that there's no window in the cassette or CD doors! This seems to be a common theme with newer Sony machines. Ok, it's not so important with the CD, as all you would see is the disc spinning round. But with the cassette, it's nice to get an idea of how much tape is on each spool, ie how much time has elapsed, or is left to play.
Hey. Just repaired mine. The belts were perfect, but the capacitors needed changing. I changed EVERY capacitor, except the one on the power supply (I didn't see it when I ordered parts, so I just skipped that one). After owning it for 4 years (originally purchased it at a thrift store). I finally got to hear what it sounds like. It sounds great for a little boom box. Hoping to sell it as refurbished.
Only thing missing that I wish had been installed is a light in the "window". Also wish you had shown how to preset the AM and FM stations but other than that I think we BOTH got a good deal!
Much thanks for the feedback. A light indeed would be nice and after I uploaded it I realized there's a lot I didn't go over. So far it's been a great little deck. Cheers.
Too bad discontinuing cassette tape players it should continue producing brand name one ..a lot of great music vintage collections out there in high quality cassettes and old players stopped working
Hello! Is this boombox still working? I bought one new at a store over a decade ago and loved it until it died tonight. :( Reading online, apparently, the capacitors go bad after a while. One guy said that he found SEVEN bad capacitors (a record for him). I've never even opened an electronic device before, so I doubt I could successfully repair it. Makes me sad. It was worth every penny I paid for it.
Still working fine so far. I mainly only use it while I'm in the garage on the weekends. I will pop in a CD or a tape and jam out while working on a project or something. I get a lot of new cassette releases from Bandcamp. As long as the capacitors haven't leaked too bad it sounds like it should be repairable assuming you want to keep using it. Maybe you have someone locally who likes to do stuff like that? If so I would also advise replacing the belts in the tape mechanism, assuming you still listen to cassettes. I do, but I'm weird. Cheers and thanks for the comment.
@@c90s_tech Glad it’s working! I’m 46, so I do love me a good cassette! As you probably know, you can get them at thrift stores. I miss the 80s something awful.
@@Autumn_Forest_ Hey you're only a few years ahead of me. Still have fond memories of listening to tapes into my teens. So glad they are still around. My main "Hi-Fi" deck is a Sony TC-RC311 I found at a thrift store for $10. Managed to find a seller over in the EU selling a full rebelt kit and included a replacement pinch roller and it sound fantastic. Cheers.
@@c90s_tech That’s awesome!! I was at a music/movie store today and was glad to see that they had lots of old cassette tapes and vinyl, and even a few 8-tracks. Good old days.
Oops, forgot to make a thumbnail for this one. Also somehow I had "includes paid promotion" checked. Fixed that.
I got this almost 9 years ago and it's still a great radio. Use it everyday.
What are your favorite local stations?

Found this at the thrift shop for 8 bucks and I'm really happy with it!

I just got mine used. The speakers have a muffled sound. Any advise on fixing it?
I've got one of these, it's a great little boom box.
Great presentation

@@c90s_tech what are your favorite local AM radio stations?.. Do you also listen to some FM?
Hello, quick question. Can you record CDs to blank tapes?
Yes!
I just picked up this unit "just because" It works fine, the one I received is used and has a small scratch here and there' It plays well

@@c90s_tech list all of your local stations.. do you listen to them during nighttime?..
Why do boom boxes never have RDS to show which station you're listening to?
Why, oh why do Sony never put windows in the CD & cassette doors??
What is audio in ? What’s it’s use ?
To connect a smartphone or an mp3 player.
