Follow along as I take you through the process of creating an awesome city street with working bikes and a deliver truck, this model was such a joy to create and it’s even more fun to sit and watch as the bikes and cars move around the layout.
All the techniques used on this model can be applied to all sorts of different modelling genres, from the military modellers, to war gamers and of course model railroaders. Sit back and enjoy watching. - Розваги
Brilliant as usual, Luke. The most realistic part was the DHL van cutting off the cyclist at high speed.
the driver is probably racing the cyclist, so no one is home and the driver can leave a note
Yes that was a close call
@@LassetUnsSpielen lol
That’s what they call, “realistic”. 😃
This comment lives in my head rent free
I think that model-scale lady just had her life flash before her eyes when the DHL truck came too close to her bicycle 😆 You did such a great job, Luke!
I winced at that. Definitely clisercthan current UK passing distance of 2 metre. Highway code being changed to make it 1.5 metres. Scary!
I thought the same, but I think it's what makes it all rather realistic 😆 (as does the fast driving lol)
28:30 I think she soiled herself. Once (we drive on the right here BTW) I was riding a bicycle downhill and at the bottom there's a curve to the left. If you make the curve too fast, there's a bunch of sand on the right side of the road to greet you. But this was the '90s and I had the worst brakes. Also it was the '90s so no safety gear whatsoever. Anyway, I was just managing this curve and a big camping-out truck comes from behind me, (a) leaving not much room and (b) blowing me off the road. So I voluntarily ditched, and rolled into the sand. I was fine, the bike was fine, the doofus going camping was fine, and I rode home a little slower that day.
Normal dhl driver I’d say, even more realistic 😂
@@winklton Christmas delivery schedule is madness.
Actually, I think the DHL driver's speed was pretty acurate based on what I've seen some of them do!
Yeah, they are always over speeding here too.
I was about to say that. Come down to the city and you will see.
yo i just sent an item to US from asia via DHL an it only took 3 days, that is insane
Need a police car with lights chasing the DHL truck
This is something every German will tell.
As an airplane buff I'd love to see you do an airport scene, all the vehicles driving around a parked plane would be awesome. Love your work, it's very inspirational and so well done. Top notch!
aeroplane* please at least get the word correct.
@@iris4547 🦅🎇🇺🇲
Airplane is the correct spelling BUT you could add like working doors
@@furchicken no airplane is horribly incorrect. but ill let you do what you want with doors.
Airport scenes are huge. If you have ever been to Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg you can see the airport there is as huge as a the cities are. It is about 150 Squaremeters, but still resembles a rather small airport. Even a small airfield would have to be at least 11 m in H0 scale in one direction due to the runway.
I think the idea is great, but I don't know whether or not he has the capacity to do this.
Spraying matte sealant overtop of the masking tape so the edges are clean is legitimately a genius technique, I can't believe I've never thought of doing that before!
I learned that painting cars, full sized cars. But I had to see it done in modeling before it dawned on me, it is genius! Just don’t wait too long. If the paint gets too hard it’ll lift off when you pull the tape.
I love how the cyclist moves closer to the curb after passing the cars. Bravo Luke, just fantastic overall.
That speed on a residential road is ENTIRELY accurate for a DHL truck
Gorgeous work Luke and I second the fact 3D Printing has been such a game changing tool for the hobby. Also, love the little push/pull switch for the magnarail. I need to give that a go sometime for a steampunk diorama or something😁
“Luke, you have gone farther!”
I marvel at the shooting angles of your dioramas where it is so difficult to get the correct sense of scale. At any moment, that Land Rover could start up, some dogs could start barking and now, here you have done it again!
The person on the bike is very motivated, look at those legs churn
yeah she is pedaling pretty fast! I heard it was a bit of a dodgy neighborhood 😄
LOL. I think that DHL truck is traveling way too slow for the States. Maybe to add some additional realism, if it could sideswipe a few of the parked cars, that would be great! 🙂
How about it refuses to drive around the block until you pay a customs charge? Now that would be a realistic DHL truck ;)
My wife and I were on the Interstate the other day when I remarked* that Amazons must be a really popular brand of truck. I see the all over the place.
*With a completely straight face
This is just amazing. Especially in natural light. With the right perspective it’s really difficult to tell it’s not real. Incredible work man, just incredible. Loved every minute of this.
Always a good day when Luke uploads.
This model was originally designed and sold by Imagine That Laser Art based in Windsor Ontario. The company was owned and operated by Mark Williams, a local sculptor and model maker. He sold the company to ITLA in Cambridge ON. O scale and HO version was available. .I was fortunate to help Mark on several of his models. The most famous being a 1/48th. full size rendition of the Brooklyn Dodgers Ebbetts Field baseball stadium, since torn down in New York . It was a custom build laser cut excact replica sold to a private collector in California for $175,000. Mark actually designed several of the ITLA buildings.
Hey Luke! Have you ever thought about doing a famous landmarks series? Would love to see your take on scenes from around the world.
That would be cool
He did stone henge a while back
The little legs going on that bike get me every time
3:31 WOAH. that application was smooooth
Watched the video again to see the sponsored message.
I have to say, you went the extra mile to put the ad inside the model, hat off
Hope you get more like this, you deserve it :)
probably the only Nord VPN ad I've not skipped!
The trucks speed seems right on point for a delivery driver.
I love these bottle flip with spray cans
Hi Luke. You have built a beautiful diorama there again. The building looks gigantic and the designed environment is perfect. The cyclist and the truck still bring movement. Really good. Thank you for showing me. Greetings Tino
wer hätte gedacht das es da auch DHL gibt^^
@@tonymahony2032 stimmt, das fand ich auch lustig :-)
3:32,
That was the most satisfying thing ever
Having trouble finding Wally? You'll find the answers here: www.bouldercreekrailroad.com/find-me-challenge.html 😃 Thanks for so many awesome comments already! 😃 Having a video sponsor helps me put these projects together and it's a sponsor I actually use. If you don't already use a VPN I highly recommend checking out NordVPN to get a 2 year plan with a very big discount and 1 month free by visiting NordVPN.com/towan
I didn't see him once, will have to rewatch on the telly. Is he always in the foreground or is he sometimes on the back shelf? Love your work.
@@matthewmullins2668 He is always somewhere on my workbench, I don't put him on the back shelf because it's a little too far away and hard to spot 😉
Is he Wally in Australia? In the States we call him Waldo
@@apterminator3882 lol, yeah he is the British/Aussie version 😃 He was originally created by a British author and called Wally but it was changed to Waldo for the US release 😉
I saw him once on the fire escape. And even then he was hard to see. He's well camoflaged
edit: I watched it again and only saw him 3 times.
Oh man, the little moving parts really take it to the next level. 11/10!
I watched it twice now and I swear, once again, I never spotted any miniLukes!
Yeah, you were suckered by an age old marketing technique.
I have to say Luke that your work is absolutely inspiring!!! Please don’t stop. I’m putting a lot of your methods into my own HO railroad layout including the Fuller car system. Bravo sir!
Well that's where my package is. Stuck in a DHL truck going on a endless loop!
Yes Another Video!!!!!!!
Just have to comment: Well done Mr. Towan!
For the first time since “where’s Wally” started I finally found him once. This whole time I was looking for an actual Waldo figurine. Today is a good day😂
What's more incredible than these models that you build is how easy you make it all look.
Spectacular modelling. I don`t know what is the most amazing aspect, the fact that you`ve learned all these modelling skills, or that you have a solution to every problem that presents itself in the process. My hat is off to you sir.
I was going to skip the ad - but the way you implement into video was great! Good content as always.
I skipped

Luke Towan upload notifications are the best kind of notification
Thanks for making these videos, makes a lot of people happy.
Static grass was such a game changer.
Diorama making is one of the most expensive hobbies but the most satisfying and rewarding when finished.
It's DHL, Luke. Drive is fast, delivery is slow. Awesome diorama, mate.
Thanks Luke. As always, you and your family stay safe, from South Africa
That truck drives quite accurately!
i think i watch this like 3 million times!!!
the HAPPINESS THIS BRINGS ME I CANT EVEN
Excellent video, thank goExcellent video, thank goodness we have such wonderful footage of train
to see us through these difficult time.
I liked the way to solve the curtains and the track, pure engineering!
That truck is in a rush to deliver those models!
LUKE...!!! You've done it again! Amazing build...I love all the new techniques you bring every new build. Even though I don't create things....I love how you always include moments of things that don't work or had to be adjusted in some way. That makes you so real and open to anyone who may not be so confident in their abilities. So impressive....and as usual....I'm a proud and satisfied Patreon!!!
Incredibly meticulous. Your patience is legendary.
Why do you make this look so easy lol. Phenomenal as always my friend. Looked like the truck almost clipped that girl on the bike lol. So darn cool
Dope as always mate!!! Forget Waldo though, I'd rather have that Talespin Baloo @ 0:35 !!
Another master class in building a diorama from Luke!
Aw that phonebox at the end of the ad is cute!
Obviously the build is beautiful but this is hands-down the best transition to an ad-read I've ever seen. The little spies! Love it.
ps- just noticed on your ad that you watch The Great Model Railway Challenge - never heard of it before, so will be enjoying that now thanks to you.
Take care Luke. You are standing in the middle of the road at 0:05 seconds, the cyclist almost hits you 😀
Superb video and final result as always 👍
Oh hell yes! Luke Towan uploaded! Today is a great day!
Brilliant, as ever, thank you, this channel is a family favourite!
Beautiful. I'd love to see a post-apocalyptic version of the hotel.
That sponsor integration was awesome lol
1:18 doge was like , yeah cheers luke .
love your work Luke. What you do takes modelling to another level - amazing!! Thank you
great one!
how you slotted in the sponsorship was quite clever too
your very good at making these dioramas, and the videos
Always excited when I see Luke Towan pop up. I know I'm in for an enjoyable time. Thanks Luke
Wow Luke, you never cease to amaze me with the work and model building that you do.
Once again, a truly amazing build! Thanks so much for pushing the limits and creating awesome scenes, very inspiring
Thanks for all the great videos and happy holidays to you!
I love your elegantly simple solutions to the animated vehicle track options. Probably the most unique solution is how you incorporated the NordVPN ad into the showcase sequence at the start of the video - a sponsor's ad I actually enjoyed watching.
Dude, you have a level of talent and precision and realism that really raises the bar. Outstanding job.
Everytime I watch a tutorial from you I learn a new technique and this provided tons of things I had not thought of before. The diorama is incredible and just fun to watch. Thank you for sharing this and have a Merry Christmas.
Best modeller on UA-cam. Thanks for the tutorial!
Your videos never fail to amaze me, Luke. You're truly an inspiration for me. Thanks for sharing.
As a German, nah, that DHL Delivery truck drives a perfectly authentic speed for inner city streets.
I won’t be surprised if he makes a whole world out of dioramas
ever thought about producing a front zipper hoodie with small bcr logo on the front & the full logo on the back . thanks really enjoy your videos , you are extremely talented at what you do .
Stunning! I hate having to wait for these videos, but understand the time that is necessary to create such amazing art. Thank you. Again, you have knocked it out of the park!
Amazing amount of work you have out into this. The results are stunning, thank you.
The video is one minute in and Luke says 'with a small amount of effort' and I see that box of the hotel with all the tiny pieces and I'm like 'that's not a small amount, not at all'. 😂😂😂😂
The best bit about Luke's opening montages: trying to spot where the detail breaks down. (for me, it's generally not until he picks a section up)
wow....nice work!!!
Modelling on another level . Great !
The editing is so satisfying lol.
I mean this as the highest compliment: your videos always put me to sleep. Your voice is so calming and relaxing that I always end up watching each video several times, just so I can see the end result. As always, this model looks amazing 👌🏻
Fantastic sir .i watch this more videos. Prem Kumar India state tamilnadu 🙏🌻🦋
Another fine missive Luke, well done. I reckon a few hay bales wouldn't go amiss!!
Amazing! I am always gob smacked by your work, and learning the methods you use is more than interesting - some are so intuitive that one wonders why they are not standard procedure. Your superb photography and all of your production values round out the experience. Thanks for sharing this build, and here's wishing you and your the best of the Holiday season.
I can't get enough of this guys talents !!!
This is a fantastic early Christmas present from you, and I hope you have an exceptional one!
Take care, and all the best.
I just love everything you built.
That ad was put in there so smooth that I only realized it was an ad half way in it.
I only remembered to spot Wally once the tutorial ended. Who else?
I think adding one or two small rooms inside visible through the windows would be fun for some more detail, just a little extra something to sell that it’s an actual building
Stunning, as always! I'm in the process of doing my first large diorama (probably too large if I'm honest) and your work has given me something to aim for, though I have a long way to go before I create anything as good as yours.
It has been a pleasure following your continued evolution in modeling. You are excellent building as we all know but I like to add your presentation skills are just as excellent. Keep it Luke.
I love your editing style! The model looks incredible, but it's the style of the video that makes it fun to watch
Your work is amazing. THANK YOU for posting these videos.
Love your videos! Some additional ideas for future:
- Aircraft Carrier, with functional airplane lifts / catapults. Escorted by submarine. A huge resin sea where you can see the submarine in there somehow :)
- Saturn V on launchpad taking off
you have to HAVE TO make a diorama of that little 3 strip of buildings in the ghost town of Thurmond, WV!!
i want some bloopers with that girl and the truck please!!!
Wally count 0!!! You keep my mind entertained I don’t want to look around for Wally. But I will rewatch numerous times to try and find him.
Everything you do is always amazing
Every video Luke does inspires me!! Every one is done sooooo well
