    Have you tried Cottage Garden? Let us now what you think about it!

      I don't care for Patchwork, probably because for whatever reason I cannot wrap my head around that particular economy and struggle to score even positive points, lol. But we own both Cottage Garden and Indian Summer. They are both lovely, laid-back games with nice nature themes that we can play with family members or with friends who aren't into heavy games.

      I played all except the spring one. Indian summer is my favourite then Cottage Garden, then Patchwork. You guys should take a look at the app version they are awesome. Especially patch work, the hard AI is so advanced.

      Fun playthrough. Never played this one. Would like to play once just to hear everyone at the table saying: pot, pot, pot + cat, cat, cat, cat...no wait, pot pot pot POT 😂

    I really enjoyed the commentary and explanation of rules. My mom and I tried to play after reading the rules and we couldn't figure out how the cats were used. Also, now I realize we were filling the 'nursery' wrong. Thanks so much for this great video! The games makes so much more sense now.

    Love Cottage Garden, it's a favorite to play with my 7 y/o daughter(who also loves Calico and Honey Buzz). We've played Indian Summer, which has such a different feel- with the power tokens and race aspect. Both are beautiful, simple but clever and fun, but we prefer Cottage Garden. Really looking forward to the rest of the series. Thanks for all you're wonderful content!

      Indian Summer and Spring Meadow are fine, too, but this is the one of the trilogy that stands out as something special.

      Nice!! We are excited to try the other 2 games. Seems that everyone has their favorite of the 3.

    I just watched the Bones Collector's top 10 Uwe games and this game was on their list. It was fun to see your playthrough & hear your reflection. Great job as always!

    I'm almost done watching your Lacerda series so coming from those videos to this it's a totally different experience.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  3 роки тому

      Haha yeah Lacerda from what we know is at the top when it comes to “heaviness”. Uwe does have heavier titles that we will be covering down the road though.

    I love your videos and Uwe R. !!! I bought this game in France and left it there with my family. I miss it ! Looking forward to seeing the other two of the series, I don't know them at all.

    My fave polyomino game! I guess I'm a weirdo because Pathwork didn't really resonate with me. You're making me want to give it a try again, though. I've played this, Patchwork, and Indian Summer in app form because I wanted a polyomino game, and I think this is the one I'm getting. And my mom is like Naveen's mom. Theme is important to her, and she loves gardening, so I know she'll enjoy it.
    The word I'd use for games Uwe Rosenberg often makes would definitely be bucolic. Pretty, bucolic games--though Agricola maybe isn't quite so bucolic because of the looming threat of starvation, haha... This game and its series definitely applies, though.

    I have only Barenpark as a polyomino game, I just got it, but I really liked the mechanocs for Patchwork, sadly the theme is an issue at my house, however, a garden might be just right for my SO, and it plays more people! Thanks for showcasing these games

    I’ve owned this game for a while and still haven’t played it. Now I will that you guys did an amazing job teaching as always. Great video though can’t wait to see how the sequels to this play differently!
    P.S. Naveen, I was sort of judging you with your flower placements even if Monique wasnt. 😆

    Monique: "Just to kinda giving you the lay of the land"
    Naveen *losing odds or evens* as is tradition. Never change, guys. This Rosenberg series is wonderful.

    I love it. I think the end gets a little fiddly when one person is finishing out and the other doesn’t have any garden squares left. Regardless, theme is cool and a lot of fun.

    I purchased this one right after I tried patchwork This was a cute and fun little game. Haven't played Indian Summer or Spring Meadow.

    I’m really enjoying the idea of this series. I like Patchwork, but it’s the only one of Uwe’s designs like that I’ve played (if you don’t count Feast for Odin, heh).

    Pretty cool theme but I'm not sure I need it if I have Patchwork which I love. Thanks for the playthrough! 👍

    I noticed this says the Great Designer Series. What is that? Planning on playing more games from that series?

    Will the abstract ones like Luna Nova (or Nova Luna, always mix that up) and Sagani feature separetely or together with the big boxes? They're almost a tile laying game as well haha

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  3 роки тому

      Hi there, we did a video for Sagani a little while back when we received the prototype so we won’t likely cover that. Nova Luna we are looking at sprinkling it in with the other Uwe games.

    My group liked Cottage Garden better than Patchwork. The buttons were fiddly and not affording tiles was wonky. CG felt streamlined and played great solo to 4 player.

    • @BeforeYouPlay
      @BeforeYouPlay  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Aaron, that’s really great to hear. Naveen was a little skeptical about the 4 player experience, but I guess the gardener moves a little longer at higher player counts.

    You can't think of any polyomino games before patchwork? How could you disrespect Blokus like this???
    Lol. Thanks for the vid!
