Ritchie Blackmore was the best guitarist of the 1970s! Deep Purple was the best live act of that decade as well. Ritchie is the original heavy metal shredder. What tone.
Deep Purple was such a perfect band.. so sad all the fights and breakups.. it had it all.. vocals like Ian Gillan, the best drummer imo Ian Paice, possibly one fo the best mans behind the keyboard like Jon Lord ( RIP ) of course Roger Glover's badass bass! and the best Guitarist to ever step in this planet.. Ritchie Blackmore.. Ill never get over how amazing the whole Made In Japan album sounds.. its too good.. the solo of highway star.. everything lol best live album EVER!
Finally another Deep Purple fan on youtube who feels the same way I do about these five great musicians, Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord(RIP), and Pace. Great comment my purple blooded friend.💜
As in John Entwhistle of the Who, greatest Rock N Roll bassist ever, who w/ Keith Moon, make up one of the 2 greatest rhythm sections in rock n roll history… the other being John Bonham & John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin.
But, to be honest - he was just messing around, nothing great about it musically. Do I see that one of his strings has gone? Maybe that's the reason why he did that?
This is insanely ahead of its time. The people’s faces say it all. They’ve never seen musicianship like that before. Normally bands have one member that stands out. Here they have Paice, Lord and Blackmore... (sorry roger)
Jon Lord was classically trained, Blackmore is a very knowledgeable musician, and Paice is a fantastic drumer, proving you don't have to hit the drums hard in order to play hard rock.
Ritchie is great...but Jimi Hendrix's influence is big ...in the way he moves himself on stage and in the way treats his guitar!.....Not only Ritchie was influenced to Jimi b
Fantastic!! Never seen this - thank you. Was fortunate enough to see them both twice but only together once - Perfect Strangers tour. Saw Blackmore with Rainbow & Paicey with Whitesnake (proper Whitesnake before John Sykes, highlights in the hair, MTV & re-recording classics in a bland "American-friendly" way)
Blackmore would have never played this way, had he not seen Hendrix do it first tho.. No one would.. That's why Hendrix was special. He pretty much laid the blueprint for electric guitar..
And in front of the children! These days it would seem inappropriate to expose children to such musical ferocity, you might expect to be arrested! Again this is pure brilliance and the energy and inspiration are beyond anything that's out there now! Really check out the young kids out front, does this kind of scene exist nowadays?
nowadays kids are allowed to listen to rap music telling them to kill cops and rape girls, this is allowed now, but real music doesn't exist anymore because the system decided it in that way.
According to certain publications, Blackmore had a tube-powered reel-to-reel tape recorder he plugged into, and from there the signal went to his amp. That was the “secret weapon”.
Blackmore n Lords classical training coming to the fore and Pacy showing off his jazz background, one of the best left handed drummers around. Plus the best football player to grace the field. George Best
I don't think the folk in the audience had a clue about what they were seeing and hearing....what a wonderful slice of free expression by the masters that were DP
Ian Paice is a genius on drums!
Lefty
How so? I’m not challenging your opinion, just curious as to your explanation.
Can't U see and hear

Fans of The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, or Led Zeppelin would all disagree.
awsome best purple then zeplin

I find myself returning this...again and again.Tanks
Just unimaginable. Over five decades and every single night it is something different.
4:50 : The signature MKII ending for Mandrake Root and (later) Space Truckin'. Brilliant.
this is a real dream !!!
Such an incredible bunch of musicians. The next night, they probably improvised this in a completely different way.
But it was always based on these riffs.

We must be happy - because they met each other and spent together at least few years - most impressive and memorable on the world of real Music.
I miss having this kind of talent making great music
Okay, here I am again..... I must say that Ian Paice's snare adjustment at around 5:02-5:04 is phenomenal! Man I love this video!

An absolute Class A Rock Act was Deep Purple. John Lord introduced the Organ into Rock music!
I would have to give that credit to Booker T. of Booker T. & The MGs.
John Entwistle? Who?

Insanely talented musicians. No-one could hold a candle to them in those days.
They were GODS of hard rock. RIP Jon.
And that, kiddies, is how it's DONE!!! That lineup of Deep Purple (with Ritchie Blackmore) was one of the best rock bands in history.

Silly title though, it's not just a Blackmore/Paice " Duo ", it's improvisation by the whole band!
But, to be honest - he was just messing around, nothing great about it musically. Do I see that one of his strings has gone? Maybe that's the reason why he did that?

After all that, Ritchie stayed in tune! Amazing.
