      Yes, but what about the well oiled political machine, that has almost 5 rallies per year even when it is not even election time, the EFF? These are the people who the EFF is prepared to loose votes from us South Africans for supporting illegal immigrants.
      Who are the funders of the EFF? Taxing members cannot be enough for the way the EFF spends it financies, buying expensive 4x4 for the Abathembu king, buying cows for kings and cheifs.

      The biggest problem is we black South Africans who are fighting this invasion, we are not supported by white South Africans as if this problem affects only the black population.
      I am definately sure that if white South Africans joined us, the DA will change its tune because its support base is the white South Africa. However, even if it does not, why if we work together we will then make a better progress.

    This has been going on for years now early 2000s, when I got callouts for electrical breakdowns they are all over the place at night underground. We just greeted one another and I went on and repair the breakdown. I left them alone and they left me alone. Later years in the Golfields Welkom and surrounding areas shafts were closed then the guys started shooting at each other or the mine security. I could hear the shooting from where I lived. Even when a Gold plant was being closed and all stuff reclaimed they did the same. Thank God I moved To western cape.

They are easy to spot as well, just go to any informal settlement near abandoned or legal mines and u will find them. So they might be a lot, but it wouldn't be hard to deal with them. I seem to recall reading years ago, when the zama zama thing first started, that they mostly went down disused mine shafts, extracting a bit of gold that the mining companies overlooked or couldn't extract profitably. I.e. they were actually doing no harm - they were taking what no one else really wanted.
    At the time it seemed to me it might be better to simply legalize and regulate them rather than trying to put a stop to it. Now of course it is too late: one should take that route before you have to deal with entire private armies shooting at one another. It seems their armies are indeed now more powerful than SA's own.
    In any event, as usual it is difficult to get any real facts out of the media. Do/did they in fact mostly dig up gold that no one else bothered with anymore? Which mines are we talking about here? Disused ones? Ones actually still in production? How do they get into them then?
    Well, perhaps those are relevant questions. I cannot propose solutions; I simply do not know enough about the problem itself.

      many years ago it was so, like in Welkom,when Harmony gold mine closed so many mine shafts, these zama zamas were going down underground, to mine the areas not being mined anymore by the company, things have changed, of the shafts were still being mined by the companies, just outside Randfontein on the way to Soweto there's a mine called Cooke Shaft, there the zama zamas go underground in shafts still being mined by mining houses,,the workers there assist the zama zamas by giving them food, batteries, i worked on one of the mining houses until few years ago that's why i now about it, that is why Sibanye gold stopped workers from taking any food underground, of these zamaz would go underground hidden in the explosive cars . or even going underground at night with legal miners, using clock cards of the day shift workers, there's so many stories i can tell here ,

    • @brianvanderspuy4514
      @brianvanderspuy4514 Рік тому +1

      @@stblad3 And I assume the artisanal companies are legal?
      Years ago, when car guards became a thing at supermarkets, it didn't take long before would-be guards were stabbing one another. Malls solved this by licensing a number of guards, and no more. Same with taxis: in the 1990s there were hectic taxi wars, as rival taxi operators and associations took pot shots at one another for prize routes.
      Much of this sort of thing can be solved by legalizing and then regulating the industry, but of course, that does presuppose authorities which are in the first place capable of enforcing rules. Alas, here in SA the government seems not to have any such capacity left anymore.
      Time to call in Afriforum again... :-)
