I love this house. No gimmicky notes or accords just pure elegance and high quality materials. Vanille Havane is amazing and Rose de Jamal is also a standout for me.
Rose de Jamal is a masterpiece, I really enjoyed it. This house is pure luxury.
I really can't wait for this to become available in my country. Based on your description, it sounds amazing.
@@nkosinathimkhonza2332 it’s one of the best warm, adult gourmands in the game. Absolutely wonderful.
This is one of my favorite scents. I wore the Coeur de Oud on XMas day and it's one of maybe 10 in my entire collection my wife says "oh, I like that, what are you wearing?" Too expensive but it's amazing. Rich's view was pretty aligned with my own.
@@pandafragrance I really wanted that one but the price was a hard swallow (also the pressure of a limited edition). Oh well… glad you guys like it 👍
I love Les Indemodables. I am gravitating towards musc de sables more than the ones that have gotten more spotlight. I sampled Rose de Jamal, and even though I appreciate how natural of a Rose it is I couldn’t make it work for me. Vanille de Havane will be my second purchase from the brand. Happy new year Daniel!
@@AngelMC11 Happy New Year to you! Musc de Sables is on my list too, totally into the profile of that 👍
Great review. This is hands down the best tobacco vanilla scent created yet. Like eating vanilla ice cream at a cigar lounge. Happy new year bud. .
@@BigScentEnergy happy New Year to you!
I agree that is is the most beautiful, approachable, adult vanilla frag out there. Great stuff.
Thanks for sharing another amazing video, Daniel!
Have a lovely year!
Cheers from Brazil!
@@EduardoHenrique-nd1ro thanks for watching!
Same to you, happy 2025 🙂
Hi. I really love your content. I relate to a scent like you do. Not textbook type. Your content is very different and helpful. I have gotten a lot of knowledge about fragrances looking at your videos. ❤ from India.
@@sattydas thanks you 🙏
Makes me happy that my content is relatable and helps people connect with a fragrance 🙂
Once again, fantastic options at the end Dan. Really enjoyed your take on VH (VH1? 😆). Only got to wear it twice myself and I actually got some negative feedback the second time. But I MAY have oversprayed a bit so it was probably my fault. 😬 Haven't tried any of the flankers so that's on the to-do list this year. Wishing you a brilliant one brother. ⭐
@@justaddlight thanks so much! What kind of negative feedback? I just can’t imagine this one being disliked 😅
Wish you the best 2025 🥳
@@SeldomlyOften Something to the effect of, "dude that's too strong, could you please wash it off." 😂 So yeah, we're not friends anymore. Kidding. Maybe.
@ so strange, of all scents it was this one. Ever happened with something more daring?
@@SeldomlyOften Interlude a couple of times and once with the newer Rhinoceros, although that one really isn't that daring.
@ I really want the new Rhino, I’m a huge fan on Prin
This fragrance has become popular as of late . I’m getting my sample today . I’m so curious to see what’s the hype is all about
@@Malick_ibn_dinar it’s a really good, elegant vanilla that is not overwhelmingly sweet 👍
Amazing house. The oud version is simply outsanding. I have a lot of ouds and this one is like nothing I have tried. You are really on the right track. Oriental velours and musc de sables you should definitely try. The patchouli is very nice as well.
@@iyanev I really wanted the oud version but that price… also the limited aspect of it kinda sucks.
Happy New Year from Florida USA!!! Great vid as always. 💯

Finally tried it last week and I am in love with Vanille Havanne. Intense and so high quality. The whole brand is so good. Chypee Azural, Fougere Emeraude and Patchouli Noisette are my other favourites from the brand.
@@MrViews-ij3tx I just got a full discovery kit and I’ll be going through the whole thing in a video 👍

@SeldomlyOften Its going to be interesting Hearing your takes on the whole collection. I think you will like Cuir de Chine. Looking foreward to the Video.
Another gr8 one! Waiting for your take on "Rose of Jamal"... because its in my wishlist. thx :D
@@criz0n it’s a beautiful scent that could last a little longer but I highly recommend it. Review will come soon 🙂
Great review. I think the closest scent to VH is Ecrin de Fumee from Serge Lutens. I have both beside many tobacco based fragrances. They are very much alike. Red Wine Brown Sugar I believe is not in that category. However these are great thoughts . Thanks
I've never tried Ecrin de Fumee, will have to give it a go, I'm curious now!
Also, my options are not for similar scents as I don’t like redundancy. I just try to pair stuff according to a vibe.
@@SeldomlyOften Ecrin de Fumeè is very interesting, giving the price at discounts, but the smoke there is not from tobacco: there is a war outside while we're comfortably partying with cacao and rhum.
One if not my favourite vanilla, just SPECTACULAR.
Agree, magnificent stuff!
In my top 5 of all time of all my frags.
@@stevebachman9076 it’s really great, I trade off a lot of frags but this one is a keeper
@@SeldomlyOftenI went from 100 down to 30. This one will never leave.
@ I really need to cull 😅
@@SeldomlyOftenwe need a video of which ones you got rid off and what made them redundant. I always ask myself hmm wonder if he’s ’upgraded’ this one yet. Maybe at end of the season fall/winter you could do a vid. It’ll be like a follow up to the scents you’ve reviewed, if your opinions have changed and if you’ve found something better to replace them.
@ I’m constantly trading stuff away for new things, people think I have a wardrobe full of stuff but that would be impossible to manage space wise and unsustainable cost wise. I don’t really “upgrade”, I just keep the stuff that I really connect with and can see myself wearing in the long run.
Some houses I just like having bottles of: Amouage, Meo Fusciuni, Zoologist, Lorenzo Pazzaglia.
This sold out as soon as you dropped this video!
@@Frag-Jitsu what do you mean sold out? From where?
I had been long waiting to see a decent take on Les Indemodables. I have performances issues with all Valerie's fragrances, but they need to be put aside, given how beautifully classy they are. Should he be an architectural style, Antoine Lee would be neo-classical: very straight, very neat, no twists, no turns: surprisingly clean! I bought Ambre Supreme and Musc de Sable, will see in the future for the rest. But I am very curious to put my nose on Les Anthologie de Gran Crus before: do you have experience with them?
@@alexchog9383 thanks for the comment, I love how you guys come up with these awesome analogies. I got a full discovery kit so I’ll give my take on all of the frags soon.
Never tried LAdGC, they seem cool 😎
Thanks for the great review, I bought a sample of the fragrance and it's smells incredible , the problem is I can't afford it the fragrance is too expensive for me , so Are there any alternatives for this great fragrance
It's a beautiful complex thing but I do agree it's expensive. I don't know of anything that smells exactly like this but you could check out Amouage Boundless or TF Tobacco Vanille inspired fragrances.
Sounds like a vanilla I can get onboard with
Thanks for sharing
@@seanp7871 thanks for watching and commenting 😊
Just wear this today as 1st scent of the year. The vanilla here is one of the best
@@siwatsummashipvitsavakul7434 the perfect combination of smooth and edgy with character, love it so much.
Happy New Year, Daniel. Thank you for the insight into this house that I’ve never heard of ☺️ so I thought to ask you - how does someone just getting into niche fragrances learn about the smaller houses. I recently learned about Luca Maffei (Italian perfumer) and started to look at some of his creations. Outside of social media hyping some of these frags, how does one tap into the more “obscure” niche houses?
@@mjybeex6016 thanks for the comment! Organic curiosity will lead you through a labyrinth of hyperlinks and reviews. Just start off with Parfumo’s “smells like” and get carried away, when you find something you don’t know that sparks your interest you look into reviews on UA-cam and Reddit 😆
Gotcha! Thank you sir!
Have you done a review on that Cafe Tabac, I am very interested in getting that one. Is it redundant to get it if I already have Vanille Havane and Royal Tobacco? I really enjoy tobacco perfume, especially during the winter season.
@@enriquevasquez9088 not yet! It smells nothing like Vanille Havane but has a similar vibe to Royal Tobacco, just sweeter. Love it! Review coming super soon.
I tried this today and am annoyed that I like it so much! 😅 I have a bottle of The Oud Affair by Wilhelm Parfumerie but I much prefer this take on a gourmand tobacco fragrance. I love the booze in the opening - it would also fill the gap left by Baraonda which I recently sold.
@@marcosschneider7052 yeah it’s really hard to dislike this. It’s so balanced and multifaceted while still being very easy to understand and appreciate.
Addicted is an understatement
What do you mean?
@ I love it so much. It’s art in a bottle to me. You can smell the craftsmanship. Very different experience from smelling a regular mass produced niche house.
@ ah yes, it’s really really good. The quality of this is second to none 👍👍👍
Was waiting for this one, I beg your pardon but allow me to bid your a compliment you're a handsome guy.
@@AlonzoRobinson-td5yz thanks for comment and for the compliment!
I recently bought a vintage bottle of Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille as my boozy vanilla. I love vanilla, but not the sickly sweet kind. Vanille Havane sounds incredible and I may get a sample
@@EndersFPS is that boozy? Never smelled it because I’m not really into simple vanilla scents but I might have to give it a go.
@@SeldomlyOftenIt’s not super boozy, but’s a very classy vanilla. Not uber gourmand. Has a rum note listed but it isn’t in your face. Gives the scent some depth alongside the pink pepper and ambery facets. I don’t think it’d be your thing really. I do tend to like my simpler vanilla scents to share with my not so perfume obsessed girlfriend
@ I’ll try to get a sample but Guerlain is not my favorite house (oh, the heresy!)
@@SeldomlyOften I'm a sucker for French perfumery so Guerlain remains a top brand in my collection haha
I love vanille havane and the house. I have my sights set on musc de sables and sirocco oranger next. I bought my wife and my sister rose de jamal for the holidays and they were floored.
@@vinylpimp Rose de Jamal is very unisex, don’t you think? I like the idea of Orange Sirocco but I’m scared about the longevity, I need to test before buying.
@@SeldomlyOften Rose de Jamal is very unisex, I plan to wear it in spring.
Can you do a review of Guerlain {spiritueuse double vanille } please
@@Malick_ibn_dinar I’ll eventually get a sample or a bottle and will surely feature it
@@SeldomlyOften thanks I like your reviewing style and your opinion matters
A brand that flew under my radar, but ordered their Discovery Kit today (very fair pricing BTW that Box features 11 fragrances). Vanille Havane sounds like the type of stuff I need in my collection thats lacking winter fragrances.
@@MrViews-ij3tx the discovery kit is absolutely amazing, both in value and in experience. Let me know how it goes!
@@SeldomlyOften Will report back when ive sampled them all.
I was taken off-guard by you mentioning Bohoboco in alternatives, it's not a brand that many people talk about on the Internet but a really cool one, and one I own several bottles of. Would love to hear your thoughts on some of its more interesting scents, whether in a full bottle review or sampling multiple samples in one vid.
@@danieln6613 I really want the oud carrot one but I’m not sure about it. Do you have that?
@@SeldomlyOften I don't own a bottle, but I've sampled it a few times and I remember it being pretty smoky, giving off campfire vibes. From the ones I own Dark Vinyl Musk is my favourite, it's dark resinous, incensy, musky, with some noticeable rose and leather. It shares many notes with scents like Amouage Rose Incense, but is unlike any other fragrance of that type that I've tried.
@@danieln6613 I get a ton of Rose Incense in Yellow Rose Incense from Bohoboco, same sort of white smoke dry incense. Love it.
Which other fragrances in the same deal project better and have better sillage would you say?
@@leepaterson7340 something that smells similar but has more presence would be Amouage Boundless.
Have been going through their sample set (amazing value, like 39ml for like ~60 USD its crazy, each sample is 3ml)
So far, vanille havane and Oriental Velours have been amazing on skin. Gonna try ambre supreme and patchouli noisette soon, and then crack into their floral ones. Tried them all on paper so far and they were great even if a couple arent for me
@@ethanrrs I really want Oriental Velour, it’s probably going to me my next from the house. Let me know what you think about Ambre Supreme.
Do they ship to the US?

@ bought two at my local reseller and the other one online. To be honest, online from the brand direct was cheaper and I liked the service.
Have and love this, just wish it was easier amd cheaper to get your hands on other samples from this house...
I will say that i get no alcohol/booziness from this, i can stretch myself to see it but wouldnt have that impression naturally on my own at all
@@EvWuzhere yeah I hear you, you basically have to order from the house directly. The boozy might be the sort of fermented type of sweetness in the opening but it’s apparent enough to me; kind of like a liquor enhanced coffee or something.
This doesn't come cellophane wrapped? Just received mine.
@@marklopez3459 I don’t think it did actually! It’s just the white cardboard box.

@@SeldomlyOftenGreat review, quality stuff. You don’t see this often.
Would you say this scent is good for formal winter nights out? (Formal Work events, dinner dates etc?) I hate panty dropper cliche type of stuff so I don’t mean that. I mean would it be a suitable scent when I want to make a good first impression and not in your face?
@ this is serious, elegant and subtle if you mind the spraying. Yes, it’s great for formal stuff, it doesn’t smell like cheap synthetic party frags
Any similarities to Amouage’s Boundless? Please rank them all after you’ve done individual reviews.
@@highoctanehome actually yes, Boundless is a very similar type of fragrance although I think Vanille Havane actually edges it out in all areas. I still want to get Boundless 😉

@ thanks for the idea, eventually I’ll do some best of according to notes. I’ll definitely mention Vanille Havane when I get to finally review Boundless
@ Thank you!
I don’t really notice the oud in the limited version.
@@mattl7424 do you also have the normal one? Does it show up in an A/B comparison?
@ I bought the discovery set . I want to get a full bottle . Comparison… not much of a difference. I actually prefer the extrait as the roll on has a pronounced chocolate note and it’s addicting. Not really sweet just noticeable
@ some are complaining about the boozy note in the regular, does the Extrait have that or is it less?
@ uh… in the extrait there is booze but I love it. I don’t think it’s more prominent than the original. I just get some chocolate notes in the extrait. I’ll spray the original later today when I’m home
I like that you dont make mindless shill videos, you have actual taste, which is refreshing to see in the recent sea of robot-reviewers who only care about sales.
@@SPACEDOUT19 thanks a lot, I have nothing to sell, I just like to give out information about the stuff I like (or don’t).
The discovery set seems like a bargain, been on my list to try for a while. Alongside Roja, these guys promise the highest quality naturals. Unlike roja they try and show it via the info on where and how they extracted etc. do you think this is a marketing gimmick or to your experienced nose do you believe Roja and Les indemedables are really a cut above quality wise?
@@theworkingkitchen7325 Roja and Les Indemodables have very different approaches. Both high quality but with Les Indemodables it’s more obvious as the scents are simpler in concept and design. Roja’s stuff is very rich with a million ingredients so the single notes get lost. Still great quality (although a little overpriced).
I wore it today… this is just a devastatingly creative and beautiful fragrance. I always find a new facet in it depending on temperature, weather and time of the day.
Masterclass in perfumery

@@Roy_Godiksen totally fair, not everything is for everyone. Have you tried others from the brand? Maybe it’s just not the brand for you and it’s totally ok.
@SeldomlyOften No, i don't think it's the brand. I just don't like anything boozy. Especially not rum. 😊
Vanille Havane is great smelling fragrance, that's true, but unfortunately it's bit overwhelming at the same time. I just can't fully enjoy it.
@@jmydy what’s underwhelming about it? It’s “simplicity”? If that, I totally get it but the house as a whole has that vibe. These are frags that slowly grow on you.
If it’s the performance, then I agree completely.
@@SeldomlyOften Not underwhelming! I wrote overwhelming, and that's a big difference :) There's just something in this fragrance that's slightly too strong, like it's trying to scream at me, "Hey! I'm here! I'm here!" (The same applies to many other luxury fragrances too.) For reference, I can't use Dior Homme Parfum or even Dior Homme Intense for a similar reason. However, I really enjoy fragrances from Profumum Roma, which, in my humble opinion, smell much more natural and subtle. Despite their extreme longevity, they don't cause olfactory fatigue at all. I hope this clarifies what I meant by "overwhelming."
@@jmydy oh sorry, read the opposite 😅
Have you tried spraying a little less?
@SeldomlyOften yes, even 1 cloud was too much. In general I don't over spray and find over spraying inappropriate
The rum accord ruins it. Once that rum goes away, they chocolate dried tobacco leaves are wonderful. One of the best tobacco scents. However, the rum note is just a deal breaker for me.
@@kingerfd3341 thanks for the comment and feedback. I can see how it can be polarizing. I personally like the way it cuts through the sweetness but it also makes the scent less smooth and refined. Now that you mentioned it, I would like to try it without the boozy note just to see how it is.
The oud was priced outrageously and the fact you couldn't sample it first was egregious.
Don't blame anyone for not buying it.
