It's crazy to say that our furniture line is one of the fastest selling brands to launch on Amazon, we've won awards for our sofa designs (for comfort and style) and our Daphne Bed has sold out over 10 times... but back up, how did we get here??? We started UA-cam on a whim, posting random videos and nurturing a tiny business of selling my jewelry designs in parking lot swap meets!
I believe our story is so similar to lots of creative entrepreneurs out there and we have learned so much over the years of building what is now, our design empire! We hope in this video we can impart to you some of those key tips that have helped us: discover our purpose, lean into what works i.e. full room makeovers and design content, having employees and knowing how to raise them up to maximize their creative potential and collaborate, and finally how to go beyond just being content creators and actually manifest a viable brand. You also get lots of sneak peeks from our recent promotional photoshoot and new designs coming out!

Hey Mr Kate, how about creating a canopy bed for adults that is beautiful, elegant and multi layered, (it can go from a canopy, to a four post, to a regular bed. Made from metal and wood) 3 beds in 1. And called it “TreUno”!❤

Mr Kate, one of the first videos I remember was the Gibson braid, the faux Bob with the scarf and of course Knock knock I’m Mr Kate series. The first video I ever saw maybe in 2012 was the green chair from the trash and then the coffee table with the pages and the hey shorty it's your birthday video and I was hooked. I went through an injury and with your videos got new hobby and spend plenty of time on UA-cam and a lot of DIY. Thank you for being yourself.

TBH I still mourn the death of Mr. Kate Jewelry (the way I OBSESSED over those gorgeous, funky pieces), but it has been such a treat seeing you grow and take on new endeavors (the furniture line is incredible)! I joined the Mr.Kate train back in 2010 when you guys made videos on diy glammed boots and mod podge tables! I love you guys and It makes me so happy to see how far you have come.
This was so fun and interesting to listen to 😊 And those shots from the first OMG we bought a house, seems like yesterday when I watched those!

The realization that you were on a content hamster wheel was key. I’ve noticed that the creators I have followed here on UA-cam the longest have retained their audience and the quality and authenticity of their content because they, too, realized this reality: that if they didn’t translate the audience into a customer, their livelihood was too tenuous and they would end up being enslaved by audience capture which would be the death of their creativity. They all managed to find a way to create a business, a product, that they could offer. But also, importantly, those products, like the ones I see you coming out with, are true to who they are and not simply slapping their names on some generic offering. Some of the products are not even physical objects, but skills they can teach, which is fantastic. The downstream effect being that the content they do put out on UA-cam really comes from the heart, is really something they want to share with the world and not simply, “well, this is what’s trending so I’d better put my version out there” or “this is the kind of video that always does well, so even though I’m dead inside, I’ll put out yet another one ….”. There are a lot of channels out there doing some version of DIY/renovation … the reason your audience is here and is loyal is because it translates to us that you have your own voice, your own vision, your own aesthetic and that you have a genuine passion to inspire others to step out into the creative unknown. You’re not a carbon copy of something that has been successful elsewhere. It’s great that you’re sharing this with us. It’s valuable insight and background information. ❤
