People smoke cigarettes daily. Sometimes hourly. And that has a far more serious impact on health. Now I personally have never smoked marijuana but my family does. And I would much rather them be smoking weed than cigarettes or drinking alcohol.
As a daily marijuana user, I can agree that weed is a much better alternative when comparing it to alcohol and cigarettes. However I don't want people to ignore then downsides of marijuana use all together. It is still mentally addictive (or habit forming, whatever you want to call it) it's not cheap, and consistent use will temporarily dull you out. I'm speaking purely from personal experience and research here. I don't literally spend a fourth of my income on weed, but I do feel the need to always have weed available to me regardless of my financial situation because I just love smoking it all the time.
By all means. All I'm saying is I hate valuing work ethic as part of my virtues, so I want shit-eating culture, and appropriate the culture of unfortunate, poor jungle-people in Haiti with rags for clothing, who have nothing to look forward to in their lives but eating and smoking their own shit, whom I look down on, deep-down, but I pretend not to - I have to tell myself I am just like them - exactly like them, because I'm using them for my self-serving goal: to possess a support system of other dumb high standard of living middle-class people who found the same genius strategy I have found to abandon work ethic as part of our set of virtues. I also want to conduct hundreds of studies to find unsurprising mental changes that can unsurprisingly alter the experience of people with brain deficiencies, when getting high off it, and jerking myself to my counterculture ways.
Well I am sure that most of us reading this post are happy for you, it's great that you're content with life how it is. with that said, are you trying to imply that everyone should follow your example? That would be in bad taste. Not everyone grew up in/with the same setting, family, background, or peers that you did. There are a lot of people that never any of that growing up and still felt like their life was shit, there are also people who did those things and felt their life was great. Like I said, if you simply commented to tell everyone how great your life is, I'm glad for you. If you were trying to make a point, it's very shallow.

I don't know but I've heard a guy say he smoked it from age 16 until 66 and it didn't stop him from raising a family, serving on the board of county commissioners, earning an advanced degree, blah blah blah ...... healthiest person I know in mind and body. Go Bob Marley.
Cenk is very right. I used to drink pretty often and there was a large financial and physical toll. Now I spend a decent amount but far less on weed with none of those physical downsides!
thats incredibly stupid and unwise. I worked minimum wage and was diligent about saving my money and moved out to a moderate sized house around 20 minutes from town and its cheaper than my rent was but now I own a house. Gotta be smart. Live with a few roomates and you can save a lot of money even on minimum wage if you eat cheaply.
I know we need to talk about pot like its super awesome to try move away from criminalisation and stigma. But hey, if you've ever been a pot head... and then managed to stop... surely you'd agree your life is better? it's a guilty pleasure like anything else- it shouldn't be illegal, but no point going over the top and saying it does NO harm - to health, physical and mental, and finances
Yes, wine has sulfites or amines in it. Some people are outright or mildly allergic to those components and do not know it. That's why a person can get a headache after even a glass of wine. So, I've just alleviated some of your five year old type of ignorance. You should be thanking me now.
AO Folts I love the fact that you're seem mildly offended when I only hit you back with your own sense of humor :) Thank you for that! Maybe next time I will just state facts, maybe people will find that more funny.
I remember reading in Malcom X's autobiography about his friend getting a job but still being broke after buying his months "reefers" supply and paying rent. It was profound relating to something like that from 80 years ago. Like Cenk says, its as old as time.
Sadly, I probably use more then that! But my legs burn like they are on fire all the time, I have MS, and its the only thing that brings relief from this symptom. It keeps me in poverty and if my insurance covered my medicine of choice, marijuana, I would be much more fiscally stable. Sad day for me.
+OkamsRazer so what about dopamine, caffeine, oxytocin etc? No chemicals is a silly way to differentiate yourself when all we are are bags of chemicals (and you can adjust how much of each you make or uptake very easily.
Your brain is constantly in a chemical bath. Saying that the amount of a chemical determines its potency is a silly argument. The amount of LSD it takes to trip balls is practically immeasurable compared to other things in the brain. Saying weed kills is also not an argument. I could as easily say it saves lives and explain what lives it might save.
I save it for the weekends. I mean, it may be relatively harmless but it does affect cognition. If I smoked it every day, I'd turn into an idiot and a blowout.
Agreed. A $50 half ounce lasts me months. I don't do it everyday because I'm aware that it slows my thought processes down. Moderation is key but we are a people of extremes. Its amazing what you can do with a little self control.
you're right to be angry. that was a totally insufficient description of that disgusting despicable fat angry moronic sankeoilselling lying delusional piece of shit who defecates on logic, reason and humanity on a daily basis
I live in Vancouver, Canada. Cannabis is pretty cheap in comparison to the rest of North America. I can get 1/8th ounce at a dispensary for $35. That will last me about a week. When I visit friends in the States where it is not legal they are paying twice as much for cannabis that is half as strong to what I can get in Canada. Alcohol is crazy expensive Canada though. The cheapest 6 pack we can get here is about $10 after tax.
djackson006 Just the city of Vancouver. Vancouver has started to regulate the sales of cannabis and is allowing dispensaries to have storefront stores where they can sell cannabis to the general public. They are taxing the business and charging them an operation fee which gives the city millions in tax revenue. Although the newly appointed Prime Minister has promised to legalize cannabis federally there have been increased crackdowns on people selling it.
snowboard138 That is from store front dispensaries. I can get it from growers that I know directly for a lot cheaper. My friend charges me $100 an ounce when I buy it from her. Dispensaries are convenient so I don't mind paying more. There is pretty much a dispensary on every street in Vancouver so if I am out and about and want to get weed I can get it without any hassle or having to call anyone.
I used to smoke weed, then I grew up, moved to a big city, started my own business, traveled the world for work and or fun... and I kept smoking weed...lol.
Croo ookie Seeing how it destroyed my friends. Turned them into losers who do nothing but sit around all day smoking. complacent with their shitty jobs. Weed completely destroys some peoples motivation.
It could be used to incriminate if he was caught with lets say an ounce. Tha'ts enough for "intent to distribute" and if he went to court to stand trial, you best believe the prosecuting attorney would be doing all he could to find evidence that he was indeed distributing.
You know what happens when I temporarily stop smoking weed? I don't save money! I spend it on other things, like movies, beer, and going out. It's a recreational drug, people do it to have fun/kill time. Without weed they just do it another way and those ways are usually more expensive. For example, $5 to $10 of weed is all you need for a night. Meanwhile a craft beer costs $5 to $10 per-pop.
B4TT3RY People that do that when they shouldn't are foolish. I personally know and have heard countless stories about people that will spend their last 20 bucks on weed rather than save it or spend it on something to better their station in life. People are morons. "I would just waste it on something else when I can barely afford to feed and house myself."
+Evirthewarrior Your anecdotal stories about "people you heard of" doesn't mean shit to my own personal experience which is that $5 to $10 of weed and a night watching Netflix will ALWAYS be cheaper than $5 to $10 for an entry fee to a club just to pay $5 to $10 per-beer.
This is why the country needs to let us grow freely. A seed, a resource from nature should NOT be kept from its people. Ghandi boiled his own water and made his own clothes because the British empire (run by the corp. East India Company,) forced Indian citizens to buy from them. He started a revelation peacefully with what the world around him provided. It was illegal to boil your own water. That should sound just as absurd as it being illegal to grow a plant, because it is.
I use mj for pain relief, and I spend far too much on it, but until and unless I can get fit enough to get back to growing my own, what choice have I got? All the local charities that helped out with supplies for med users all got shut down.
Well, the price of pot for recreational purposes is of little concern to me, but the cost for medical pot can be an ongoing expense that takes a ridiculous portion of the income. This could be remedied if insurance companies were allowed to pay for it, or if there were charitable growers who provided medicine to those who do not have the means to pay $10 to $15 a gram.
Here in Oregon the price for recreational for anyone 21 or over the price includes a tax which has proven to be very helpful income for the state. There is no tax for medical pot. But it is still pretty expensive. The local paper just had a story of our little city of about 12k people opening up it's 6th pot shop. It is really exciting to see how quickly mainstream the industry has become. It is a good business opportunity for anyone who has the funds to get started. There is no lack of customers and the variety of products is astonishing already. Legalizing pot just made a whole new world.
I don't smoke weed but the reason why people spend too much on weed is because of stupid drug laws. Marijuana is not like cocaine or heroine or prescribed pain killers. If cigarettes and alcohol is legal why shouldn't marijuana be legal?
Why didn't this study talk about the more than 2/3 that DON'T spend as much? But the article also didn't compare with those that spend as much or more on alcohol a week.
The price of weed does not change* based on income. This study does not mean that individuals with lower incomes smoke more than individuals with higher incomes. At best, much else, the study indicates that relative to income levels, lower income individuals smoke a higher percentage of their income.
I spend about a 1/4 of my income on marijuana. I am disabled and would prefer to use weed over the prescription drugs the doctor gives me. It works better and has less side effects.
Can someone educate me on the prices of weed? I know what liquor costs where I come from (Finland: hint a lot) but I can't see myself ever spending that much on anything other than my house even though I belong in that income group and they are somehow saying that if they used alcohol it could twice as much or 50% of their income....
+Ampheta.miner Cometh Your right because it's not legal where I live. I have to smoke my weed in the attic like Ann Frank. I know Ann Frank didn't smoke week but it would've definitely help with her anxiety.
i have literally had stomach issues since i was a small child where i throw up all day every day. ive had surgeries, they still dont know what my problem is. i smoke weed so i can go to work in the morning. and so i can cook my kid dinner and actually eat some dinner myself. weed is expensive. the cheaper, weaker shit is harder to find. i definitely spend a third of my income on weed, my bills are also paid on time every month, and yes, im broke 98% of the time. but id be a lot broker if i didnt smoke weed and i couldnt work or get disability for my undiagnosed illness. id rather be broke and have my bills paid and be able to walk around without winding up violently ill. since i started smoking daily ive lost 50+ lbs because now i can work out and its lifted me out of severe depression. so, judge away. weed made my life better, it should be available medicinally, recreationally and industrially, EVERYWHERE to everyone.
Makes some oil and eat that shit. Have you tried colostrum? If it's a stomach thing possibly a month of 5ml colloidal silver everyday then repopulate with probiotics.
Did the study include or exclude people who smoke marijuana to alleviate pain or for other medical reasons? That's only been a recent development in the drugs use, and obviously someone using it for medical reasons is likely to use it more than someone using it as an alcohol substitute.
When I was at UNI I spent £120 a week on 1oz and had a part time job earning £160 before taxes. I now have a large student loan that paid for my tuition room and board.
I am more enthused about what pot can do in a medical sense, than smoking it to just get high. I hope they continue to discover its benefits to Cancer patients, for acute pain management, anxiety treatment, etc. Much better then the tons of drugs millions of people are prescribed daily!
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-doo I have a perfect puzzle for you Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-dee If you were sober, you'd listen to me Smoking pot is fine when it's once in a while It may treat your glaucoma and brighten your smile But the daily use of dope is unhealthy and wrong When you're toking and toking all day long The way that a hippie does Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da Given good drug tips, you will go far You won't live in haziness too Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-doo
Although I agree with your comparison to alcohol as a recreational drug, I think there should have been more addressed to the medicinal properties of marijuana. Perhaps some information on prescription drugs, and comparisons there?
She gets a headache from two glasses of wine? I use to drink 6-8 beers (equivalent to 5 glasses of wine) every night and still felt 100% every morning.
My friends son Spent 15k on weed last year, she tried to say is addictive. I had reminded her that her family has an addiction problem, alcoholics on both sides and goes back generations , also they have mental health issues too, which it turned out he has, so he was self medicating and his doctor said the same too. In 20 years, I dont think I ever came close to 15k, maybe 2k at the most.
Another note on methodology: By far, the majority of these smokers are people making more than 20k. In order to truly understand the impact of class on use, there needs to be a breakdown of the incomes of the remaining SEVENTY percent of smokers.
They are both intoxicants, so the comparison at this level is valid. On the other hand, alcohol is the most dangerous of the two. While I don't burn or imbibe, I vote and support every initiative to make weed legal.
I'm lucky to be in a state that has legalized marijuana, but in the states that haven't legalized it, people can still face jail time for smoking weed, which is why we need to continue pushing to make it legal nationwide, and The Young Turks is doing a lot in that push, especially with correcting widespread misinformation. Thank you, TYT.
I gave up weed for booze, because weed didn't mess with my head enough. I ended up an alcoholic, and now I've been sober for years and years. I wish I'd stayed with weed. I like the mellow, but I was so anxiety-ridden as a teen that I was drinking even when I was smoking weed. So instead I put the money into buying more booze. For whatever reason that people have to run away from their daily anxiety, I think people should have the opportunity to do it without going for booze that destroys families and causes violent outbursts. I've never seen anyone start trashing a place after getting high on weed. Although I've got no clue about "skunk" and other super mutant strains. I was just doing the basic ganja, man. No hangover, no "brain fog" that I got from hangover.
Smoking-habits for cigarettes is partly similar to smoking joints because it is conditioned. You become not only addicted to the drugs you use but also to the habits and rituals that are related to it.
So in case Cenk and Ana didn't bother to do the math a quarter of 25k is $6250 or just over $110 a week. Have you ever had to pay for a prescription for anxiety or depression with shit insurance? It's about the same when you add in the doctors visits and time you have to take off work for those appointments.
I don't generally like weed, makes it more difficult to think hard, but if you need to get a lot of menial tasks done, it makes you a lot more productive. Also, it makes you more creative, in general.
This is why we need to eliminate many of the regulations on cannabis and departments of the state that were created just for cannabis. The seed to sale process for instance is just ridiculously expensive, that money could be going to schools and social programs simultaneously saving money for cannabis dispensaries and people buying cannabis from them.
When I worked retail while going to college most of the people smoked which made no sense to me since most of them were struggling to even pay their phone bill. I'd go outside to talk to them and they'd be complaining about how they cant afford to buy their kids some stuff they need while smoking on a cigarette and buying a carton that cost $40+.
Excellent report. Thank you for your comments at 4:25 Cenk. That's exactly what I was going to mention in my comment. It's a form of escape. Most of these are young people, and what kind of future do they have? I'm 60 years old, and I really feel for these young people. This country and this planet are royally screwed up.
Hey Thanks for defending us potheads! Lol. hey it's not more or less responsible of me to be a pothead vs a drinker- it's a matter of preference for me. Never been a big drinker- makes me sick. Also, I had some personal experience with alcoholism by someone close to me turned me completely off so I didn't even partake much in high school or college ever. And my parents raised me 'European style' when it comes to alcohol so by time I was in high school I had tasted wine and beer and it wasn't so mysterious. They did demonize pot though! Go figure- so I became a pothead not a drinker. Biggest real danger of pot smoking? What Cenk said. It's an escape. If what you're escaping from really has no solution, like terminal cancer- pot IS one of your best medicines. IF however what you're escaping HAS a solution and you're NOT working hard enough to find it bc the medicine makes you able to tolerate and accept it- THEN the underlying issue you're escaping from doesn't get fixed.
We spend between 16-17% of a couple's income. Save money on health insurance to help with anxiety, sleep, and digestive issues. Even if I would be spending more on marijuana I will spend it, because I do not want to take loads of prescription medicines just to find out what works. Pot works, and its natural.
The types of escape weed offers vs alcohol is vastly different as well... Should do studies on how groups of people that are drunk behave and socialize vs how groups of people that are high do it...
I smoke once a day, mostly at night, and I spend about 100 a month on weed. But it is much cheaper than a night hitting a bar. Drinks add up quick in one night.
Also worth noting that weed can cost more by weight than gold... If it was priced fairly in a free market it would not account for any sizable amount of income no matter how much money you make.
This is proof that we need to legalize it and lower the price drastically so that smokers aren't financially burdened by their habit. My habit costs me nothing, it grows, like a weed in oregon where it's legal. But it needs to be more legal so I can grow more.
"Weed will get you through times without money better than money will get you through times without weed." -anonymous
yep yep
Travis Scott you'd be amazed by the mileage one can get out of a blonde wig and a tube of lipstick.
grow it for free?
LMAO. Thanks man, I needed that laugh.
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE that's deep.

Not sure why has to be one of them rather than neither... I also like to smoke weed time to time but that argument makes no sense.
Any inhalation of smoke is bad for you lol. Best eating it to be honest.
+Doom2pro True, a much better way to get a hit.
I'd rather be drinking alcohol
better to do none and use money more wisely

Eating your own shit is healthier than having cancer

nah bro I'm insane dog
Daily smoker as well 1/8 a week... And a lot of what you're saying is correct.
I do not smoke weed to escape anything, in fact weed makes me more interested in anything I am doing.
totally agree! weed adds colors to otherwise gray, predictable and boring world
Does it make you more interested in exam revision?
A lot more spend half of income on booze.
+Harmony Alexandria weed is more expensive than alcohol and cigs so weed smokers would spens more
+Leah Williams spend*
depending on where u live/how much u smoke cigs can be expensive af
Not if it becomes legalized everywhere. Oh, and weed edibles will never give possibly cause cancer unlike.... oh SMOKING AND DRINKING.
weed is like 20$ I think, and bottle of cheap booze and pack of cigarettes is about the same
I'm 17 and I don't do drugs, alcohol and cigarettes and I love my life. I have no problems.
Overconfidence can be a problem.
But did anyone ask you?

do you only have one leg? yeah... you have white male privilege and you celebrate it, sick!
Then you don't live in the ghetto (poverty) thus you will never understand why people do Illegal/legal drugs in the first place
If Jimmy smoked that much, he wouldnt be able to spit in peoples faces.
hahahaha Dry mouth pmsl.
Your Mom spits on my face.
Aren't you Alex Jones trolls getting tired yet?
Being against spitting in peoples faces = being an Alex Jones troll. Jeez libtards now a days.

Maybe if people were making more money they wouldn't be spending such a large percentage of their income on weed.
no

Sean Armstrong You know of any jobs that are easy?
I started smoking weed in 1968. I only smoke on weekends and never outside of my home. The only financial problem it has ever caused was in 1975 I had to pay an attorney $500 to keep me out of prison on a simple possession charge.
I have smoked marijuana for 48 years and I am not addicted to it.

I like your name. You must be the brother of Mary Jane.
+Mark Nicholson She's actually my cousin but we still hangout all the time lmao
How much do u spend per month on weed per weed?
Weed isn't cheaper than alcohol! It's around $15 - $20 for a gram. And usually a 6 pack is $6 - $12.
agreed when I smoke daily it's 10-30 a day beer usually 2-6 bucks for a single or six pack much cheaper
"OMG we don't have enough money to pay for rent, food, gas, etc" *continues to spend 1/4th of income on pot*
"daily" is nothing. it's almost always several times a day every day. survey should be how many times a day
"whoa, daily pot use"
Its 9:30 am Im about to take my 3rd dab
Just a quick question.
Do Americans not say quarter?
What's this "one fourth" nonsense?
We say quarter
Do you guys think I can get away with saying "one quarter" without sounding completely autistic? I want to be sure I am specific, so nobody thinks I meant half a pound.
+RUT RHO
Aaah. The imperial weights system.
I can see why saying one quarter might cause some confusion stateside.
I've lived all over the US, doing jobs that required a lot of measuring and I've almost never heard "one fourth".
doesnt quarter even phonetically resemble to quadrant? its not that hard to infer.
I've smoked weed for years. I used to smoke it all the time but it was keeping me from doing the things I wanted to do so I cut way back. Where a half-quarter used to last me a week the last one lasted me almost 4 months. I've known a lot of pot smokers and almost all are fundamentally unhappy in some area of their life. Has there been a study like this on cigarettes or alcohol?
I don't know but I've heard a guy say he smoked it from age 16 until 66 and it didn't stop him from raising a family, serving on the board of county commissioners, earning an advanced degree, blah blah blah ...... healthiest person I know in mind and body. Go Bob Marley.
The shocking thing is not so much the spending habits, but the fact that these people's incomes are so low.
I'm high watching this video, it's just part of many every day schedules.
Cenk is very right. I used to drink pretty often and there was a large financial and physical toll. Now I spend a decent amount but far less on weed with none of those physical downsides!
What about income inequality? Maybe they are poor because they spend their money on stupid shit
like iphones
spending=income
+broccollin preach brother
Thank you.
thats incredibly stupid and unwise.
Yes I agree as a former pothead life is much better without weed.
"Two glasses of wine gives me a gigantic headache"
OK. Ana is officially five years old, lol.
True😂😁
Maybe she needs to try a white wine spritzer or drink some water along with her wine?
Yes, wine has sulfites or amines in it. Some people are outright or mildly allergic to those components and do not know it. That's why a person can get a headache after even a glass of wine. So, I've just alleviated some of your five year old type of ignorance. You should be thanking me now.
OK, Bill Nye.
AO Folts
I love the fact that you're seem mildly offended when I only hit you back with your own sense of humor :) Thank you for that!
I'd like to know how many of those users where using it for medicinal purposes?
Most I'd say. I only smoke as much as I do due to my anxiety.
If you spend that much you're an addict. You should get help.
I save it for the weekends. I mean, it may be relatively harmless but it does affect cognition. If I smoked it every day, I'd turn into an idiot and a blowout.
No, you wouldn't. If you don't have the brain cells to spare then don't risk it. People with the right mind-frame and work ethic are fine.
TazeMeBro McCleskey that's what stoners tell themselves I'm sure
DarKool81 For a person who doesn't smoke daily, you sure are a lazy thinker.
TazeMeBro McCleskey You seriously don't want to go down this road mate. I'm a university lecturer in Analytic Philosophy lol Go back to your bong
Agreed. A $50 half ounce lasts me months. I don't do it everyday because I'm aware that it slows my thought processes down. Moderation is key but we are a people of extremes. Its amazing what you can do with a little self control.
Finally, thumbs up for better audio.
leann > anna "fatshaming" kasparian
Because being fat should be smiled upon
Fucktard
Ignore her hypocrisy all you want niggas, :D
you're right to be angry. that was a totally insufficient description of that disgusting despicable fat angry moronic sankeoilselling lying delusional piece of shit who defecates on logic, reason and humanity on a daily basis
Are you fat
Also, how much was a gram in the place they did this study? I can get it for $5/g and a gram could last me a week.
Sounds like Canada has its shit together.
djackson006 Just the city of Vancouver. Vancouver has started to regulate the sales of cannabis and is allowing dispensaries to have storefront stores where they can sell cannabis to the general public. They are taxing the business and charging them an operation fee which gives the city millions in tax revenue. Although the newly appointed Prime Minister has promised to legalize cannabis federally there have been increased crackdowns on people selling it.
snowboard138
That is from store front dispensaries. I can get it from growers that I know directly for a lot cheaper. My friend charges me $100 an ounce when I buy it from her. Dispensaries are convenient so I don't mind paying more. There is pretty much a dispensary on every street in Vancouver so if I am out and about and want to get weed I can get it without any hassle or having to call anyone.
in my town in teh u.s its 10 bucks a gram. fml
Chaoitcme Our potency tests at 30% THC. I love California.
Maybe we wouldn't spend so much if we could grow our own damn flowers
I used to smoke weed
Then i grew up.
Then what? What made you stop smoking?
I used to smoke weed, then I grew up, moved to a big city, started my own business, traveled the world for work and or fun... and I kept smoking weed...lol.
Croo ookie
Seeing how it destroyed my friends. Turned them into losers who do nothing but sit around all day smoking. complacent with their shitty jobs. Weed completely destroys some peoples motivation.
+Stride Tide Just because that happened to your only friend doesn't allow you to make generalizations. Cya nerd.
Google the endocannabinoid system.
thank you so much for making so many weed videos. Plz continue to make more and more WE SMOKERS NEED YOU
I make 450 a week and I easily spend 60 a week on bud.
Lol i barley make money and i spend $25 in 2gs and thats cheap
Jeez, so you go through an 8th a week?! Damn, it takes me over three months to go through an 8th...
+YABARBER is that a smart thing to say over the Internet?
It could be used to incriminate if he was caught with lets say an ounce. Tha'ts enough for "intent to distribute" and if he went to court to stand trial, you best believe the prosecuting attorney would be doing all he could to find evidence that he was indeed distributing.
"Jeez, so you go through an 8th a week?! Damn, it takes me over three months to go through an 8th..." Im not gonna lie thats adorable.
Is there any similar study on alcohol
These people are spending money they shouldn't, when they cant afford it? But it isn't addictive, right?
Scott G. I guess it is better to blow it a few joints. Working to have a better life is a waste of time, just exist and smoke.
Most people use it to deal with pain they don't know how to deal with otherwise.
At least they're happy :')
I use mj for pain relief, and I spend far too much on it, but until and unless I can get fit enough to get back to growing my own, what choice have I got? All the local charities that helped out with supplies for med users all got shut down.
did the study differentiate between medical and recreational???
All you need to grow is
Tent - 80$
Light fixture and bulbs - 120$
Inline fan - 65$
Carbon filter - 50$
Ducts - 20$
That's pretty much it.
The worst thing that Americans spend their money on is credit card debt/interest.
There's a huge difference between accounting for 15% of use and 15% of users. Ana says users, the graphic says use. Which one is it?
Why didn't this study talk about the more than 2/3 that DON'T spend as much?
But the article also didn't compare with those that spend as much or more on alcohol a week.
The price of weed does not change* based on income. This study does not mean that individuals with lower incomes smoke more than individuals with higher incomes. At best, much else, the study indicates that relative to income levels, lower income individuals smoke a higher percentage of their income.
...at best, AS WITH MUCH ELSE...
I used to do security at a dispensary. I used to see the same people come in every single day and drop $300 a day yet their cars were falling apart.
It makes it easier to deal with your severe mental health issues, student debt and crappy starvation-wage jobs.
$1500 a month but that's why I got a degree so I can afford the lifestyle I want and not be broke.
Some club somewhere is making BANK off of you.
+Ampheta.miner Cometh Your right because it's not legal where I live. I have to smoke my weed in the attic like Ann Frank. I know Ann Frank didn't smoke week but it would've definitely help with her anxiety.
You should just grow some in the basement.
+Jason Rockefeller why don't you just smoke in your living room or backyard?
i have literally had stomach issues since i was a small child where i throw up all day every day. ive had surgeries, they still dont know what my problem is. i smoke weed so i can go to work in the morning. and so i can cook my kid dinner and actually eat some dinner myself. weed is expensive. the cheaper, weaker shit is harder to find. i definitely spend a third of my income on weed, my bills are also paid on time every month, and yes, im broke 98% of the time. but id be a lot broker if i didnt smoke weed and i couldnt work or get disability for my undiagnosed illness. id rather be broke and have my bills paid and be able to walk around without winding up violently ill. since i started smoking daily ive lost 50+ lbs because now i can work out and its lifted me out of severe depression. so, judge away. weed made my life better, it should be available medicinally, recreationally and industrially, EVERYWHERE to everyone.
Makes some oil and eat that shit. Have you tried colostrum? If it's a stomach thing possibly a month of 5ml colloidal silver everyday then repopulate with probiotics.
+djackson006 *googles furiously*
Did the study include or exclude people who smoke marijuana to alleviate pain or for other medical reasons? That's only been a recent development in the drugs use, and obviously someone using it for medical reasons is likely to use it more than someone using it as an alcohol substitute.
Doesnt surprise me. So much better things and more important things to spend your money on.
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-doo
I have a perfect puzzle for you
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-dee
If you were sober, you'd listen to me
Smoking pot is fine when it's once in a while
It may treat your glaucoma and brighten your smile
But the daily use of dope is unhealthy and wrong
When you're toking and toking all day long
The way that a hippie does
Oompa, Loompa, doom-pa-dee-da
Given good drug tips, you will go far
You won't live in haziness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-doo
if you're poor and can't afford insurance or antidepressants then yeah of course youre going to spend more on pot
Escape means you basically give up and surrender to your problems.
Wow - this really highlights a serious social issue: weed is TOO expensive!
If I didnt have to worry about going to prison, Id be growing my own for free and not spending a penny on it
Shit I spend hella money on weed but you just gotta learn to budget and have your priorities.
like stephen a smith always says in first take stay off the weeeeeed DUE! 😂
I don't quite understand why they keep comparing pot with alcohol like its the same thing
They are both intoxicants, so the comparison at this level is valid. On the other hand, alcohol is the most dangerous of the two. While I don't burn or imbibe, I vote and support every initiative to make weed legal.
It makes sense. Lesser income households are far more stressed out. If you don't smoke everyday $20-$40 can last a month or more in some places.
That's because corporate cannabis has inflated prices.
Last time i checked from them, rich people dont do weed, they do coke. So..... no thanks
2 glasses of wine and you have a headache? lightweight
Weed's not cheaper than alcohol when you factor in the munchies! lol
"Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope."-Freewheelin' Franklin.
theres also the fact that marijuana can be used for pain treatment for those who cant afford expensive pain medication prescriptions
Back when a 20$ a week allowance from my parents was all I had to spend, 50% of my income was spent on weed.
Oh noo people spending 1/4th of their income on something that makes them happy? How dare they!
Who scripted this 7 min. ad for daily weed use?
People have too much money then, which is nothing new. The fact that they need various substances to feel less bad isn't anything new either.
This is proof that we need to legalize it and lower the price drastically so that smokers aren't financially burdened by their habit. My habit costs me nothing, it grows, like a weed in oregon where it's legal. But it needs to be more legal so I can grow more.
Alcohol is cheaper than weed. Go to any supermarket and there's cheap beer
i wonder if there's a correlation between this and the amount of student loan debt in this nation.
1/4 of my income on weed? I don't think I could smoke that much. I'd be baked out of my mind all day long.
