I used Mapei Type 1 adhesive, from Lowe’s, small size pre-mixed to do this. ($7 w tax) Had to reattach toilet paper holder and towel rack to drywall. Used clear packing tape to anchor for 24 hours. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!! Saved me a ton of grief and the bathroom is ready for the next round.
This video is very helpful. Thank you for posting it. Question: When the ceramic towel rack fell off, it has all the dried putty or whatever still on it. The wall is clean. Do I need to remove that first before applying more to the back of the ceramic part to reattach? If so, how do you recommend doing that?
New towel bar from any home improvement store - they have spring loaded adjustable ends that fit in. cut it as tight as possible to the ends and shimmy it in.
Hey bud when you wet the job down before you tape... Guess what? The tape will not stick....I hope you learned something today... Happy Valentine's Day!

I have the exact same question
DO YOUR BEST to remove all previous putty / dried glue material from the surfaces. That way it is like a "clean fresh install".
What if both brackets are still attached and the bar falls out. How can I get it back in? Can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
Did u find out?
I faced this same situation once. Only Rod came out.
You can buy a spring loaded towel bar
I have this exact same towel rack. The attachment to the wall that the bar sits in is broken. How do I remove it from the wall?
Most important, what did you use for adhesive? joint compound?
Versa bond thinset
They sell plastic spring loaded rods that you cut to fit
Can you use compound to reattach the ceramic holer?
That can be done without video, since it fell off from sheet rock. How about when it fell off from tile wall. Problem not only in the tape...
What if the towel rod breaks and you have the 2 things just sitting there!! How do u put another rod ?
cut the rod in half and crazy glue it :)
