If I'm making pieces for my grill cake with cake scraps how far in advance would you recommend making them and should Ior do I need to refrigerate them?
@@carlagreathouse2761 I would shape the cake scrap pieces the day before (leaving them to chill in the fridge overnight) the next day you can cover them in fondant.
Keep in mind that once you have covered your pieces in fondant, the fondant can start to sweat and become sticky as the cake will be cold. This should settle once everything comes to room temperature 😊
You are amazing! Please make a hymalaian cat cake!!!
Wow 😱😍🥰
I have been loving your videos, I recently found your channel. I was just wondering, is there a reason why you don't simple syrup your cakes? Also, could you share your buttercream recipe with us? Thanks so much in advance.

Hi, beautiful job! Where did you get the tools you using from? Thanks
Thank you Juqetta! 😊 You can buy these from most online cake decorating supply stores such as The Vanilla Valley or Zoe's Fancy Cakes.
@@LauraLoukaides ok Thank you so much!😊
I am going to make this cake this week but just a couple questions. How do you form the t-bone? I've watched the video a bunch of times! Any tips on how you did it with your tool? Also, the edible paint, you just mix the food gels into the paint? What color food paint? Thanks!
To form the T-bone you begin outlining the shape with the pointed end of the tool, then you use the side of the tool to slightly push down the fondant embedding the shape so it looks like it's slightly sunk into the steak.
For the edible paints, you will need to mix the mentioned food gels with either edible food safe cake decorators alcohol or vodka to create the paint. If you would prefer not to use alcohol, you can use water but it will take much longer to dry.
I hope this helps, if you have any questions, please let me know 😊
OK that's what I thought regarding the t-bone!
OK, so I don't buy edible paint, I just the gels you mentioned along with Vodka or decorators alcohol? How runny should it be once everything is mixed?
As far as the scoring, I'm not actually cutting the fondant, just scoring it with lines, right?
Thanks so much for helping me, Laura!
You can buy edible paints if you can find the available colours, but I sometimes prefer to use food gels (especially for this particular cake) as you can create your own shades.
Food gels work best mixed with vodka.
I have found that food gels can sometimes react badly with cake decorators alcohol, so you may prefer to work with vodka when using food gels to make an edible paint, just to be safe. But if you're using edible dusting colours to make a thinner paint, cake decorators alcohol or vodka both work well.
Regarding consistently of the paints, it shouldn't be too thin as the colour will not show. The thicker the paint the stronger the colour will be, but you don't want it to be too thick. The food gels are quite strong so you will only need to use tiny amounts at a time. I always like to keep a flat piece of fondant, (the same colour as I'm about to paint on to) next to me so I can test it before applying it to the cake.
You will only need to score the fondant to create texture 😊
I like your idea of using Vodka, I think I'll do that! And I just keep applying it until I get the shade I'm looking for? Do I let it dry in between coats or does it dry pretty quickly? So I'll just pour some vodka in a bowl and add the gel and just keep my eye on the consistency! I like your idea of keeping fondant next to you too! I work mostly with buttercream, but I really want to do this cake!
Just keep applying colour until you get the shade you're looking for 😊
You can allow it to dry in between coats if the paint is a bit thin, but using a slightly thicker paint should allow you to colour in one coat.
I like to make my edible paints on a plate, I usually put the food gels I'm using on the side and then add a few drops of vodka on the other side, I then gradually take tiny amounts of the gels at a time on a paintbrush and add to the vodka until I get a consistency I like. If you begin with too much vodka, your paint will be too thin.
It's best to combine the gels and vodka together tiny amounts at a time 😊
Is a like fake steak?

What’s the pen you’re using to make the lines?
To make the lines, i'm using a pointed modelling tool, but you could also use a dresden tool or just a regular cocktail stick 😊
