  • A glimpse at the work that goes on inside Jean Desses' fashion house in Paris.
Titles read: "Fashion comes to Paris!".
    Paris, France.
Brief shot in the workroom of the fashion house of designer Jean Desses; a bolero jacket is put over a striped evening gown on a dummy and carried into the models' dressing room. A girl puts it on and has the stiffened sleeves of the bolero put into position by Jean Desses himself, then she parades around a showroom while fashion writers and buyers watch and take notes. Very glamorous!
Another model shows how the draped over-bodice of her dress can be reversed to give the effect of a little jacket with large reveres. Brief C/U of a man with a monocle looking on. Another dress has a floral overskirt that wraps tightly around the waist.
Excellent footage of Desses draping an evening dress on a model, pinning the fabric into folds at the waist. The model walks about the showroom in the gown wearing a tulle cape.
Note: the salon of Jean Desses had opened the previous year, in 1937.
