Thanks for the tour, it brings back lots of memories from the summer. We ended up staying at the Gordon Howe campground in Saskatoon and walked into the city along the river. Eventually we ended up on Broadway Avenue, a must see for any visitor especially if you like food and beverages. Just by chance we had a coffee at Calories Restaurant and ate the best Cheese cake that we have ever had, what a treat.
Wow, that guy in the beginning let his little kid run out in a major intersection against the red light. You would've never slept well for the rest of your life!
Probably not, because many people living there have to work two and sometimes three jobs in order to get by...because nobody pays good wages in Saskatchewan, unless you work for municipal, provincial or the federal government. So they will take up all the available jobs. When I lived not far from that old iron Victoria street bridge, the caretaker of the apartment building held that job, plus worked at Costco, plus was working on becoming a private investigator. Saskatoon was a beautiful place...for old money.
Lived there in the 90's before it went stupid. House prices were from between $80,000 to $300,000...now, 300k buys you a "fixer upper". Too bad, corporate greed ruined that city by plunking those monstrosities called high rises everywhere downtown. The first warning sign was about twelve years ago when they plunked that high rise right on Broadway to cast it's dark shadow over the area. And in one sense, nothing has changed, some people have to work two and three jobs to be able to afford their 15 year old car.
Why on earth would you want to reside in Sask? Florida (or California) would be better. Warm weather year round, Beautiful beaches, palm trees , women in bikinis (year round) etc.,etc
@@hudgyderobertis Absolutely! Sunny San Diego here, man! Gorgeous weather, mild winter, mild summers! High taxes and killing real estate, but hey, one cannot have everything!😂
LOL! I lived there from 1987 to 2000. And the two things they had plenty of back then was "green spaces" which were open city lots with almost nothing on them except a few trees with wood chips around them, and restaurants. One restaurant for every 287 people was the official calculation...the highest per capita of anywhere in North America. Why so many restaurants? It's a university town , so lots of part time students are serving tables and washing dishes...and...there's no paying jobs unless you work for some level of government. I look at this video of downtown now and I hardly recognize the place because of all the greedy developers plunking in the high risers everywhere. Saskatoon used to be like a big pleasant town...and now it's turned into another urban jungle! A badge of honour for "progress" I guess.
