@wolfexpertXD Its all about the land. Try not to land on your arm/elbow area, that could cause a lot of pain, when i started I did it a lot. When you dive, always try to get both hands on the ball. If you grab it out of the air, when you land you want your arms out just far enough that you can atleast bring the ball into your body for protection. I would suggest starting with low shot as you dont have to worry about your landing as much. Make your you practice on grass though :P
@rswoodcutter you will want to drop lower so it gets you stomach/chest, and if you are already down on the ground just use your hands, as your hands should always be the first thing to touch the ball anyway. hope that helps
hey dude. the striker is always gonna kick away from the keeper, so it don't matter if your position right, you still gotta dive if the striker shoots for that top 90...
love your 2 goalkeeper video. Do you by any chance have one that teach how to position your body depending if it's a corner, an attack from the opponent team, etc. (sorry if my english could sounds incorrect, not my first language). Thank you for the upload!
also when doing a low, diving catch, don't forget to secure the ball into your chest immediately.. with your arms stretched out, it would still be legal for any approaching forward to toe it out of your hands and do a follow up..
Just practice at it so have someone roll it to the side your having trouble with and make sure you have 1 hand on the and the top and one hand on the bottom and when you dive have the hand that will be on the side of the ball slide across the ground. Oh and make sure your diving forward not backwards so if you miss it it will just go out of bounds not into the goal hope that helps
@macoboy13 thats true only part of the time. Theres Penalty kicks where you have to dive most of the time, and if you've ever watched the pros you'd realize no matter what positioning you have the goal is so big, you'd never be able to completely cut off the entire goal. So yes diving is a neccessity as a goal keeper.
Man goalkeeping is so hard u can spend the entire match waiting and standing at one place and the last minute u have to be able to give everything you`ve got in order to get the ball like it`s a matter of life and death and im still learning to do this.
hey i am a goalkeeper and u must work on ur left diving side or u'll never keep good on the penalties or left-sided free kicks.. Work hardly on left sided diving(1-2 months) and maybe my advice will help & i hope you are going to do it.. Notice me if there are some results:D
I learned to dive both ways by just falling and basically after a while you will get more comfortable diving then you start to dive in the air And repeat the same process
@PeterSalasMata i had the same problem. just try to practice your right side more, for example do 10 dives to your left and 20 or 30 to your right. you'll see it'll get better in a hurry
@LunaticMelonz298 i have a tip. when you are training and you have to dive to your right, try to do a soft swinging of your body, left to rigth, do it one or two times, increase it, every time, and finally do the dive, you'll realize that if you do it right, your technique will improve.
Stay in the middle (not on your line) facing the corner kick taker (not completely just a bit) ON a right corner kick, right foot back left forward facing the kicker and vice versa and approach the ball at the highest point and dont hesitate ! if its heading towards your little box (6 yard box) then you should always be on that unless a hard driven shot to a near post in that case meet the ball where you can because it might take a deflection or be heading straight in so thats when you fix you positioning quickly
mate if u always in the right position u still ened to dive idk what u call out of position but an attacker doesnt shoot at the keeper so u always need to dive and long range shots u cant see them coming so u still need to dive then
Can some one give me some advice. I Just joined a 5-a side league with some of my mates. I am GK and I'm Ok with diving to my right, but I cant seem to dive to my left. I just do a kind of falling over thing. I don' know if it is just a fear of diving to that side but does anyone have any tips to get used to diving. It's just annoying because at the moment I have to deal with it by standing more towards the left side which leaves the right side more exposed.
@macoboy13 "the only reason for diving is if caught out of position" the framework is much larger than you apparently think it is. keepers do not have 5 foot arms.
whenever I try diving on my right I end up landing on my shoulder and slightly hurting myself. it's fine if I dive on my left, but can't seem to do it on the right side
yeah the problem was he tried to force the ball to stop, he didnt bend his elbows back to negate the force. So that will happen unless properly handled.
Lol 1st bad thing the keeper moves side to side taking both feet off the ground this means that he can't dive fast enough as he has no control while in the air sort it out.
I used to be a keeper when i was around 12 yet my body was reluctant to grow, now I'm finally over 6ft, I've started again, but my diving on my left foot seems to be poor, that's why I'm trying to get back to basics, not because I'm a totally poor keeper.
you need to be rushing the offensive man because each step you take you give them less of an angle and the knee training is to help with the cordination not meant for a game because yes they will chip it over you and you all ways need to stand striaght because its alot easier to go down than go up :)
ya same when i dive for a low kick or a high kick and i land i land on my pelvis the bony bit and it really hurts any tips on how i can land so it doesnt hurt?
If you live in Australia like me then youll know that diving really hurts because the grass is so dry... sigh i miss the wet english grounds (btw im english)
im a goalkeeper i kick the ball with my left foot but i have trouble diving towards that side, im good at diving to the right but not to the left what can i do
One mistake he's doing the entire video is that after he has made the save, the ball came up from the ground. Example: 4:14 - 4:24. Especially at 4:18. THE BALL SHOULD BE ON THE GROUND, NEVER LET THE BALL COME UP IN THE AIR AFTER YOU'VE LANDED ON THE GROUND.
The thing is, sometimes you HAVE to dive....you could have the best footwork in the world and get your angles right 24/7, but you cant cover the whole goal like that all the time..
@purple0wnzx if you have your hands on the ball the other team isnt allowed to kick it and they dont i promise you i just got done with my soccer game and i've had it out that far before none of them ever tried to kick it out of my hands cuz the ref always sees if they do you may think the refs arent paying attention but they are
Yes because your fast and kinda tall I think the average height for a goalkeeper is 6"4 but that is professional if you want to play in high school your good unless thier goalkeeper plays for a good team already and you might be able to play in college if you work at it
I THINK U MEAN u rarly catch the ball when diving ,, couse most of the times the shot is strong and its risky to try and catch it and the best decision is to push it with hands
Your first resort as a goalkeeper is to stay with the ball.. Some goalies can hang on to hard shot and others can't, I guess you've been watching amateur keeps in goal
@macoboy13 Sorry, but it doesnt matter how good you are. or how quick you are. you never know what is going to happen when a shot is taken. Most of the time GKs are ready yes, but what about a deflection? You might have to dive. Watch a little more soccer football first. Even Casillas the best GK at the moment and also Van Der Sar have to dive. I think this video is good fr beginners, and if you are better then make your own video.
A very good video, showing different kind of diving techniques to save a ball. Very good done.
Very good tip video, nice saves great explanation. That guy at the end of the video kicking the ball kicks soo good!
thank u soo much! this is the greatest vid of diving i've ever seen. thanks mr uploader
BEL VIDEO. Bella didattica sulla tecnica di base, cioè sui fondamentali del ruolo. COMPLIMENTI MISTER.
Thank you for this advice, but tell me why I always hurt my knee,my thigh and my shoulder when I dive?

This man could read a poem beautifully.

how do u position yourself when there is a corner kick.? and when to approach the attacker?

is it good for the GK to be tall? 6'0 feet is it enough?
i love the old preds on there lol
i have problems jumping with my right hand and i was wondering if you can give me tips and reacting to low shots and when defenders are in the way
Can some one give me some advice. I Just joined a 5-a side league with some of my mates. I am GK and I'm Ok with diving to my right, but I cant seem to dive to my left. i'm youre best fan!like...this helps me a lot!
They make it look easy cause im a good goalkeeper and those saves are hard
!!! have a question. I´m have a weak side as a goalkeeper and thath is my left side. How can i train this the best way=
3:47 awesome dive :)
AWESOME VIDEO
Agreed, it happens to me all the time. He's still young, though.
whenever I try diving on my right I end up landing on my shoulder and slightly hurting myself. it's fine if I dive on my left, but can't seem to do it on the right side
i like to think sometimes they dive when its right at them to absorb the shock, but i may be wrong. just something that crossed my mind
yeah the problem was he tried to force the ball to stop, he didnt bend his elbows back to negate the force. So that will happen unless properly handled.
This helped me a lot! Thanks!
im a keeper for my team but i find i difficult to dive on my left hand side, it feels odd any tips? or just keep practicing?
Lol 1st bad thing the keeper moves side to side taking both feet off the ground this means that he can't dive fast enough as he has no control while in the air sort it out.
its easy to make a beautifull save when u know where the ball is going...
lovely work
thanks!

3:45, :O if i try to dive like that i'd probably get hurt, how does he dive like that, does he feel pain???
@macoboy13 not really because sometimes people will try to strike on the far post and you always try to cover the second one.
Good saves but keep ur leg a little bit higher
hey what happened to recovery saves? is there another video?
ya same when i dive for a low kick or a high kick and i land i land on my pelvis the bony bit and it really hurts any tips on how i can land so it doesnt hurt?
If you live in Australia like me then youll know that diving really hurts because the grass is so dry... sigh i miss the wet english grounds (btw im english)
dudeeee part 2??? recovery saves!!!
this actually really helped thanks
man yo those r som old predators anyway cool vid
im really good a diving to my left but not so good to my right. does anyone have that problem also and how can i get better at that?
apparently macoboy has never played goalkeeper before, that or he has just never played it with regular size goals.
yes its good... if you can jump against your mates and catch the ball instead of theam heading it its good
im a goalkeeper i kick the ball with my left foot but i have trouble diving towards that side, im good at diving to the right but not to the left what can i do
umm diving rly depends on ur positioning and staying near the goal gives the player more room to shoot
first do it in a comfortable area, like a park, and get from less intense training to more and more then eventualy you will do it.
help im 13 and cant do goal kicks accurately any tips
Who is this guy? The one who is the coach?
I don't know why, but it seems easier to me to dive to my right than it is to my left...
sounds like a narrarator form national geographic!!
Anyone have to tips for me for when I become goalie this fall and spring? PLEASE HELP!!!
i'm 15 but im really short, like maybe 5'7
i dont know if i'm good enough
i cant really dive in the air, for the really far away shots
Bro youll grow and just work on your jumping... holy shit this was 7 years ago lmaoooo hows goalkeeping been?!
thank you!
beginner tut or what? dont need that but i think this is good for beginners :)
One mistake he's doing the entire video is that after he has made the save, the ball came up from the ground.

Or maybe the freekicker is very good!!
that looks like David Villa.
1:17 good bounce catch.
3:52-3:54 nice save kid
lol-cats at the easy listening voice, step. catch. fall over. hahaha
The thing is, sometimes you HAVE to dive....you could have the best footwork in the world and get your angles right 24/7, but you cant cover the whole goal like that all the time..
TRUE
thank you very much!!!!!
Diving is the last resort
im 15 and 6'5 and have the same problem
these lads sure like their adidas
This video is funny. He doesn't know what he is doing...
just use your instinct, you dont have to care where your elbows land
try diving right into the player if you are a rugby prop, they'll think twice nexttime
@purple0wnzx if you have your hands on the ball the other team isnt allowed to kick it and they dont i promise you i just got done with my soccer game and i've had it out that far before none of them ever tried to kick it out of my hands cuz the ref always sees if they do you may think the refs arent paying attention but they are
well, in case you ever have to, because it will come, this is to help you.
very good
Yes because your fast and kinda tall I think the average height for a goalkeeper is 6"4 but that is professional if you want to play in high school your good unless thier goalkeeper plays for a good team already and you might be able to play in college if you work at it

i am already a good keeper
;}
can i be a goalkeeper? im 5'6 of height..
@Witzbomber alright man thanks
dude if you are in a prefesional football field you will have to dive if the other team knows how to shoot a ball
hey where are u from maybe we'll meet one day if u are playing for your youth national team ...?? I play for YNTM(youth national team of macedonia)=D

hello sir iam bilal khan from india i need to learn some tips from you plz help me i need some one help
@macoboy13 Sorry, but it doesnt matter how good you are. or how quick you are. you never know what is going to happen when a shot is taken. for some reason dis kid reminds me of jorge campos at 3:46 - 4:07
I just get low to ground and set off for my right side(also my weakest)
no because if you dive right you'll take the weight on your side
@TeamSalvatoreStefan me too :(
I step, catch and then die :/ I get hurt like damn
me too :(
ow ok.. thank u.. @risla001 thats how u answer a question troll. im just asking a question and u think im showing off. tsk2.
SLENDERMAN! 1:24
got to push off using ur left foot dude.
diving is only for those keepers with weak body balance. well that's what I learned from PES.
Try not to base your learning on video games... won't get you that far
