My apologies for the recording error...where I was attaching the triangular corner tuck. I sewed right down the left side of the page and right across the bottom to anchor it in place. :) Recording egg on face here ;) Big hugs to all! :) Pam :)
As long as you stay forrcust 😂 Lol, Good video 👍
This may be my favorite project of all time. I ACTUALLY MADE IT! I found my childhood/high school album and removed everything from those awful "magnetic" sticky pages. I threw away some of my old pictures and kept some but the album and it's pages got a remake. I just kept the 3-ring binder and used it to hold the pages. I really like this because it's so cool to look at and it is practical and useful. Thank you for sharing such a fabulous idea! Give Sunny a pat on the head from me.
I haven’t watched the whole video yet but just had to say hello from a fellow junk journaling African gray mom. 😊
I love hearing your African grey, I used to have one myself but unfortunately he died when he was only 3 years old. It broke my heart. I was really lucky nine years ago and I took in a Amazon parrot who was unwanted. He's an absolute sweetheart, he's a wonderful parrot and he's my constant companion as I can't work so I'm home all day. This is his fourth home, but its definitely his forever home! His name us Pippy and he's just great, he's my little man. If im not in the same room as me, he calls for me and if i don't answer him he starts screaming like he's being murdered or shouts bye, bye, bye over and over again! I also have a Bourkes parakeet called Marge and a pair of parroletts called Margo and Jerry.
I really like this ephemera folder, I'm definitely going to have a go at making one myself. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial. All of your videos are great, I love your work and you're always so happy 😀x
This book would make a great project caddy. You know, collect all the things you’d like to use for a journal and it makes it transportable as well as handy. Thanks Pam for getting the juices flowing yet again!
You want to know something funny? You put up this video of something I was hoping to see, and when you brought it out, from your description, I went hunting through my hoards of stuff and found....Wait for it!.....AN OLD PHOTO ALBUM, brand new still in plastic wrap, with several of those kinds of photo magnetic pages in it! and the cover is amazing! Alligator skin (imitation of course)! The pages are amazingly aged, and all I have to do is put in the pockets! WOO HOO! AND I probably got it free from yards sale leftovers or Freecycle!
I had one too and was so excited to make this project. All of the sudden the pages that were all yellow and browning in the corners and edges and looked awful as a photo album looked FABULOUS as an ephemera holder! It was tonz of fun to make. I was sewing like a mad woman. I must say, I'm much more confident at the sewing machine after this project. Oh it was so fun and I enjoy flipping through it. I've printed out some of Pam's monthly newsletter freebies to put in it, along with freebies from the graphics fairy. I may even start buying printables now! I also put in some things I fussy cut and some die cuts. And it was like...free...I already had everything I needed! I LOVE that kind of project. ❤
Hi! I found your Chanel and I’m loving your ideas and personality. Great fit
Gail
So glad to know that the background sound is your parrot!! 😃 I kept thinking "Maybe she is crafting in a gymnasium where the guys are playing basketball...???" 😂 sometimes it sounds a bit like sneakers squeaking on the gym floor...Glad to meet you, Holly! 😍
I had to add one more thought...I appreciate the "sewing addage".
I had a mother who sewed BEAUTIFULLY....she could make anything out of material...and, did.
She reupholstered 1 sofa 4 times...made Dad some suits....my sister and I ....beautiful formals.
HOWEVER, she did try to teach me...but,
I was a reluctant student....needless, to say...I never really learned.
You've so intrigued my interest on these junk jounals... I may actually by myself a sewing machine, one day.
SOOOOOO SEW AWAY...I APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION!🙂
Pam, you are hilarious!!! My husband and I listen to your videos just for entertainment. But I am very enlightened with your instruction as well. Have you ever considered being a comedian? I bet there is never a full moment in your house!
Keep up the good work, I'm learning new techniques from you.
Thanks so much for your expertise.
Oh thank you!
I laugh 😃 with joy every time I listen to your videos, your so much fun at the same time your teaching in a fun way. Love ❤️ it.
This is my bird, this is my dog ... ❤ and this is my like ☺
Great ideas shown here..... Anyone wanting /needing a quick ephemera storage book? Get a three ring binder with a wide spine that holds 8.5 x 11 inch plastic page protectors, plastic pages with pockets (the kind used for storing baseball cards) or with 4 larger pockets on each side (Hobby Lobby) and start filling! No glue needed. I used a paper clips on the top of each pocket to keep ephemera from slipping out.
You can slide a decorated 8.5 x 11 paper into front and back covers exterior. ❤
Easy peasy.
Holly and Sunshine really add to your videos. I sing You are my Sunshine, to my puppy who is 13
Awesome! I love how it can accommodate changes in your supply!
Yes haw🤣🤣 you are so much fun. My husband watched this morning with me while we had our coffee. He got such a kick out of you.
You really made our day. Love this idea. I see these sheets all the time at my local charity shop and never paid any attention to them.
What do you bet that now that I need them they will be hard to find that’s how it goes in my world.
+excellant idea. I followed your instructions and I now have a number of ephemral books that are easy to use and that dont tare with use. thank you God bless.
Thanks for sharing...
I love this video, and thanks for making it easier for me.
🙏💜👍
Chain stitching saves so much time! Especially in mass making! Quilters love it!!
I was just going to add that info. lol
This is an awesome idea. I do have one suggestion. I think placing the bottom edge of the inserts flush with the bottom edge of the covers would have given you a bit more space for items that may stick out of the top pocket. Also, if you’re putting the book on your bookshelf in a vertical position, the pages will have a way for them to rest on the bottom edge rather than just hang onto the rings which will put too much stress on the holes. Photo albums are being tossed away all the time and the thrift stores are full of them. I always thought they would make excellent ephemera holders. I love the fact that you’re using book pages to make pockets. The smooth back of the cellophane on the pages makes it very easy to put and take things out.
I was just thinking, you need to do a studio tour.
I can’t wait for tomorrow, I’m crafting! Rain in the forecast.
Very clever use of these photo album pages. Tfs. 💞🇨🇦🤗
merci pour laa video et surtout votre bonne humeur avec vous c est la joi merci!!!
This is such a great use of larger book covers. Little tip for lining up your holes. Use your insert to mark like you did on 1 cover only. Punch the holes in one cover first and then use that as the template for your second one. Your holes will line up better. :) Love all your videos.
Thank you!
This is a great idea. I love the book. Thanks for sharing Pam!
To me it seems a large 3-ring binder would be easier. I got lucky I guess a few years ago. A lady wanted to get rid of her old magnetic page photo albums she had in original wrappers. I found one on a shelf last week and will use that for my storage for large pieces of ephemera. But since it has a perfectly good binder, I will use it.
However, your sewing together pages for whole-page pocket storage between the sheets is a fabulous idea I will definitely try out. Hope my sewing machine likes that or I might try some Bearly Art glue since it seems to hold well for pockets. Will use this for sure! We shall see! I am simultaneously making three different ephemera holders at the same time (two in binders and one in a cereal box I reinforced and covered in pretty scrapbook paper and I will put 3 signatures in there and use for tiny ephemera like postage stamps and tiny pieces held in with translucent vellum pockets) . Hope also my poor crazed brain doesn't blow a fuse and get totally mixed up on what I am doing with which book! 😆 And I love your African Grey in the background! Sounds really happy.
This would be a great gift for coupon clippers too.
Brilliant idea. It’s amazing all the ideas you com up with. ❤
I finally made a journal fron scratch this time!
Thru your constant encouragement..
I finally made one!
My first journal, a pretty nature book from NewJersey....was still kept intact....I changed the first one by...covering probably half the pictures with illustrations from other "thrift books"...adding touches inspired by your journal projects.
My new little journal is small...and, has 1 signature...but, it's a start.
My next journal to make from scratch will be sewn on the sewing machine.
I've had my machine for a few months, now....and, it's time to learn the machine.
Thank you, Pam...I've been a card and scrapbooking hobbyist for years...but, junk journaling...truly, a new AND LOVED adventure...you help make it fun!😀
What a neat project! I have a hard time dismantling books, but I'm sure this would be adaptable to other types of covers and pockets. Thanks so much. Love hearing your crafting companions, too.
I am a collector and want to use this idea with great looking scrapbook pgs to keep collections together in one gorgeous album. Just thinking outside the box. This made me think of a home show when a lady put collectibles in CD holders and then glued them together to make a wall. Seeing two pgs together for full sized pgs was a unique idea. Thanks great video.
Thx for another awesome project idea w a great tutorial! 😊
I really appreciate your videos! It's so nice to see a real person's work space :)
This would make a great gift for, say, a daughter who's a paper crafter. Whoot!
Love the sponged reinforcements trick! When I took all of my old photos out of those kind of albums I should have saved the pages! Who knew!
Hope we get to see your birds at some point as they are all ways part of your filming she's a chatter box xx uk fan your work gives me different ideas x Hayley uk think we're going back to lock dow whatching you guys takes the worry away love Wendy and Leo and gale and jimmy Joe's .Am doing an alice in wonderland gernal for a Christmas present x
Thanks for sharing this. This is a great way to store and organize ephemera
So happy to hear the birds
I have been so busy I haven't had the chance to watch any of your videos for a while. When I found this one (drawn by the cool cover), I couldn't resist! I am up to my gizzards in lock-down inspired junk journaling projects, so I really didn't need another one at the moment. But lo, and behold, I am now inspired - again - by you and your excellent ideas! Thanks a lot! ;) :) Seriously, it was so refreshing to hear you (and Holly! ) this evening. The stuff of this life can be so heavy - especially these days in our country - and your voice and manner were like a soothing balm. Thank you, Pam. I really needed this tonight! Blessings! :)
I just bought a postage stamp storage/collection book after seeing one on someone's video (yours?). This reminds of that book. I was already milling about in my head how to make one for the rest of my ephemera. Thanks for this idea. You are just bursting with great ideas. Thank you for sharing them with all of us!
I just had to stop the video to repeat: Yee haw!
I'm not quite ready to add sewing yet but I'm hoping to use this idea somehow. Love watching your videos and listening to podcasts.
Now I need the photo pages!!! OMGoodness what a genius idea!!! 🐞🥰🐝🤗🦋
I always love how Real you are ! Thank you for going through all the work to share with us. Tami Clutter
I enjoy your videos and think you are such a hoot.
Very Nice! Tip: when you thread your sewing machine, you must have the pressure foot UP -- this opens the tension disks so that your thread is held correctly. Otherwise, you leave yourself open to jams & birdnests - which aren't good for sewing.
Yes, I had some real bad jams on my machine when I ignored certain things like the line on the right wheel being at the top and WOW, it gets ya!! I find myself re-reading stuff in the owner's manual because I sew very seldom--mainly tiny holes in my shirts from my parrot "grooming" my shirt. So I forget how to put a needle in the machine (flat side to the back--i forgot that) but I struggle onward through the fog!
What a wonderful idea to hold all those little bits & pieces of ephemera!! Be safe & TYFS
Hi Pam.... I absolutely love your charisma! You always make me smile and laugh in your videos. Have you thought about making some of these storage books to sell? I am not a seamstress.. in fact, I don't even own a sewing machine... but I love the idea for storage and organization. Stay safe during the wicked weather in Florida these days... Michelle
Love the idea, a lot more category than my box and drawer system 😉
I'd have to clear out my book shelves though and then, what would I do with them?
Oh, the problems of space, in small homes 😲
Adore the red color of the new ephemera book!! It pops!
Thanks Pam - love from Denmark 🌸💕
Such a great idea, going to make one for my two sisters as a surprise gift at our journal making day!
Once again your mind is a blessing to all of us!!! Thank you Miss Pam! Also, leaving the Mr. Currier cover on made me so happy. You have good taste!
Hello Pam, Thankyou for the tutorial and your humour. Best wishes and stay safe. Aussie Judy.
Fantastic idea!!!!
What a great idea. I have seen these pages at the thrift store and now I will pick them up. Hugs to you and have a great wEek💕💕💕
Thank you very much you come up with so great things
Oh, I love it. I have made small ones, but this holder is a much better size. Can’t wait to make one.
I love this version of an ephemera storage book, and I REALLY like the idea of using up book pages. I hate to waste them! Thank you for the tutorial!
Hello Pam. I love the bargain you got with that photo album paper. I get a great giggle when you have a conversation with Holly. It is so cute. I love this project as it would be a great of idea for any papercraft project for those times when you make extras for not only journalling, but scrapbooking, cardmaking or mini albums. I never thought I would do something like this, but by watching your work, I am so enjoying watching and learning this style of papercraft. Thank you for helping me to open my mind to the wider picture of crafting.
I just found this video and I'm in love with this idea! I ran to the nearest good will and went and picked up one of those kind of photo books. Going to try to use Fabrictac to see if that holds and sew them as a last resort if that doesnt work. THANK YOU for the amazing idea!
I have been looking around for something like this for all my tags, large fussy cuts etc. I have most of them in boxes and can't see what I have for my journals. I don't' sew at this time ( i am learning). I used hard cardboard for the front and back cover and I bought 120 lb card stock (very thick) for tags but, my printer doesn't pull it in. So I use that cardstock for the paper inside the book.. Its heavy enough to hold. ( I hope) I also have a lot of book pages to use. So far looks pretty good. I distressed the book pages and glued on with Elmer glue and so far looks pretty good. Thank you Pam for jump starting my brain. I always enjoy your videos. Very entertaining and I learn a lot.
Pam, I think this is a great idea especially for people like me who "lose" everything, just putting it down on my desk. I can be organized - thanks...hugs from Arizona...:)
And if you add tags to your pages, you can sort your ephemera into categories (Plants, Animals, Ads, Stamps, etc.) so you can be even more organized!
Fantastic, the most easiest way I have seen to make an ephemera folder, thank you xx
❤️❤️❤️❤️ thanks for sharing 😘😘😘😘👍👍👍
I love this idea. I have a binder with page protectors and baseball card holders and old photo holders but its too flippy floppy so this would work better! Thanks again Pam!!!
This is a great idea. I was making small pockets by folding a piece of paper in half. But I couldn't see everything. I'm definitely making this. Thanks Pam
Wow what a awesome idea. That would be fantastic project for me . Thank you so much .❤❤❤
awesome sauce!! I am in a needful way... I think.
Dang it! I HATE even seeing my machine...sewed to make a few $$$.
complete burn out.
I do storage using base ball sleeves, some assorted size photo pockets and paper protectors--- all but baseball found at thrift stores. But, i am gonna do your cover...such a great idea!
I think I told u, I LOVE the birds background music.
Awe! Thanks!
This was a brilliant idea. Easy and not involved.
I’m not into the sewing yet, but it’s probably the next thing I’ll look into. You could even leave the cellophane as it was intended to be used, and store the special fussy cut items behind the cellophane. Just like you would do with a photo. Just a great idea! Thanks
Eventually the pages loose their stick, it takes years but hopefully the bits would’ve been used up by then.
I bought a few in the 70s & there’s no stick, but the photos just slide if disturbed. Time to redo them!
Great project, and oh the fun papers and all things lovely and oh snap!
Thanks so much!
I've been wanting to get on the band wagon and make some of these, now I have to excuse. Thanks for another inspiration and happy Saturday Pam. Take care!
Morning Pam,have a super duper weekend ❤️😎
Hi Sadie!! A big good morning to you! :)
Somehow I never saw this one. If I find those album sheets I definitely will make this. I was thinking about the plastic sleeve sheets. But not sure if they would be strong enough. But maybe with sewing and everything. Oh I just thought. Maybe if I stick a sheet of paper inside first. Hmm. I have lots of those sleeves. So that may be what I will try. TFS a long time ago. Lol
This is brilliant, Pamela!
Excellent idea and easy to create.
hi Pam Love the idea I found the problem with other methods was getting the stuff to stick like you tried lots of glues but eventually sewed them in. I tried another idea I used a hard board for the covers and rings like you are but used manila folders and the cut offs i used for the pockets which i could glue, as it is paper to paper. I love your idea and will try and find some album pages as I agree the ring binder idea gives you soo much more space. Thanks again for your amazing ideas and teaching skills I cant wait for your videos to come out Oh and yes now I can make one for your digitals to go in !!!! kind regards linda
Thanks so much for this great tutorial! I love your chat and your boundless enthusiasm! Keep up the good work! 🤗🌷
I tried your coffee dying method and it was fantastic. Every paper looked different with lots of markings. So glad I watched that video.
I learn so much from you!
organizing my ephemera and pre made embellishments so this will be a very handy way to store on my bookcase shelves. Good morning Pam and Holly bud but Shhhh puppy is sleeping. Have a great weekend all and be sure to come join the creative fun in the Facebook Group. Pam has lots of inspiration and papery fun happening there too!!
What a great idea I'm collecting all my tiny ephemera as we speak lol.. Plus I've been sewing like crazy look at what u have started a sewing monster lol.
The Second the Video started, I loved your Fabulastic Idea Pam!! The beige cover book with epherma is Wonderful!! If you listed it in your shop, we'd all be racing there to grab it! Lol!
When you opened the cover, it is Such a Visual Delight~Beautiful And So Useful!
Your Brilliant idea Pam would transform Any large ring bound book~Cookbooks, older work books, photo albums, etc. I have several large Vintage Scrapbooks & Old Photo Albums. I'll cut the binding piece off, affix the rings and pages and there's my beginning! I think this would also be Great for Fabric Scraps! Use a binder clip to attach pieces to the photo pages, small or tiny pieces can go in pockets! Cut strip of cardstock or thick junk mail, cover in book page, wind eyelash type trim around and slip in book page pockets! Pretty to look at, Easy to grab! Perfect for all these little trims! Perfect Sticker book too! Endless Possibilities with your Great Idea Pam!
Thank You Pam~I'm Over the Moon on this~Can you tell?! 😃
Wishing Everyone a Blessed and Beautiful Weekend!
That's a great idea! I already started to make mine with stuff I have in my stash! 😊✂️😄👍
I love this idea for holding your ephemera stuff! I can't wait to get back to my journal making and to making all the gorgeous ephemera with you. I miss everyone so much. Tyfs! ~hugs~ Stay safe! Love to Sunshine and the gorgeous birds !
You are totally reading my mind with this!!!
You always solve my problems for me...I found a 3-ring binder in the clearance section at Walmart for 75 cents....I just knew I could use that for something, I have everything, now, to make this.....Now I just have to get out of this recliner..........
🤣🤣 so true! Hope you got up & made one by now 😁
I LOVE thrifting for craft items. We have several thrift stores in my area, and I hit ‘em all up! 😂
So awesome
What a terrific idea! You are amazing, Pam!!!
Pam, this is a genius! I had made some other holders but, just not very happy as I think I have too much stuff and it just didn’t work and it was making me crazy! I have been rearranging, re-organizing all of my my stuff and I have gone in so many directions. I’m going to give this a try as we have a ton of those photo holders. But, the best thing that I loved was the idea of making a big pocket to hold a full sheet! Thank you so much for sharing your creative ideas! ❤️❤️❤️
This is such a fun project. You know how I am about using what I have! THUMBS UP!
Always need storage brilliant ideas
1 step ahead of me again, Pam. I was letting an idea brew a bit more in my creative juices, but it wasn’t quite mature yet. Thanks so much. Stay safe ❤️.
Well now that's a cool idea!! I need something easy that'll hold everything! Thanks, Pam!! 💖
This is a great idea! I’ll be searching out some larger books to make a couple of these. Pretty storage is always fun.
Hi sis , real.late but here now , this is a wanderful genius idea , you worry too much , if you know what I mean , I'm not putting egg on your face lol.this shows how honest you are , is why we all love ya xx sweet pea
This is just the best video! I need something like this and I have everything I need to make a similar book. Thanks so much.
If you don't so, you could use Clear box tape to cover the book page and secure it to the photo page.
Such a great idea...thanks Pam. Hi Hollie👍🏼
Awesome, awesome, awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Love love this idea.
Thanks for this great idea. I'm enjoying following your channel and hearing your ideas.
