    I DID IT!!!! I took so long to get up the courage to do a woven bracelet instead of the usual stringing beads on wire, and I am very happy with how it came out. I used Light Green Czech Glass Pearls (8mm) in the center and Peridot and Light Green Opal-type crystal bicones (6mm) on the edges. Thank you so much for the easy bracelet.
    I think you could even use 10mm to make it wider, without it looking too "clunky".

      I'm proud of you for giving it a go, and now you achieved something new! Well done! 😛 Have you seen our two hole cabochon styles? They would also work in this situation! Being flat at the back, you get less bulk.
      Explore some of these styles and see what you come up with, and don't forget to share the result with us!

      Yes!!! You're right. I have since done them using those cute little Maple Leaf beads in the center and it's not all that hard to figure out how to get it to fit. In fact, I didn't have to do much at all to the surrounding beads.

    Do you have a video on how to make a ring to match I just love the bracelet I made you are great at teaching... Thank you

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  5 років тому

      Hi Helen! You can just use smaller beads in similar colours, to make the diagonal stitch for a ring. Just stitch the two ends together when you reach the right length.

    This tutorial just popped up on my suggested videos!
    If you use gemstones, should you use Softflex or another beading wire instead of thread?

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  5 років тому

      Hi Dani, yes, beading wire is more durable than thread for bead stringing, as long as you have excellent finishing techniques for the crimping and clasp.

    I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet. Your video keeps referring to you picking up an 8mm bead but your description says you're using a 6mm bead. Which are you actually using in the video?

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  6 років тому +1

      6mm in example, 8mm in the one made in video. In the end it doesn't really matter.

    I've been watching a lot of your videos and wondering if using a thread guard would help prevent wear at the clasps? Thanks!

    This is a beautiful bracelet..I'm a begginer headed and I am having issues with the size of needles and thread. what type of thread and needles would you recommend best for beading and especially when your working with seed beads? Thanks and happy beading!

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому +1

      We usually suggest size 10 beading needles:
      www.thebeadco.com/CategoryProductList.jsp?cat=Tools:Needles
      And Size .006 (.15mm) Wildfire thread (though you can use .008 as well unless you have to sew back through the same bead 4+ times):

      Terrific! it's hard to catch all the details (sizes, etc.) while watching the instructions but it's a very nice crafting project and you are introducing materials that I have yet to see in person though I did manage to find the Beadalon thread used in the video online / thank you!

    How many beads will you need to make the loop if you don;t have a clasp?

  • @RedWrites
    @RedWrites 10 років тому

    This might be a silly question but here goes. How do you measure the actual work so that it fits a wrist properly? It seems every time I make one it comes out either too big or a bit too small. I have measured the wrist say 7" snug but not tight. So I try to make the work just under the 7"? At least that is what I was thinking and it always comes up different. Would appreciate your help if you have time.
    Thank you in advance.

      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому

      As you are working test it periodically and know how much length the clasp you are using will add.

  • @cynguilbeau6845

    could you please say how many beads for the project for the size you make so we know how many beads we need for the project, thank you

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  5 років тому

      Hi Cyn, it's been five years since I made that video, so I can't remember exactly how many beads I used, however usually one packet of each type will be enough for most bracelet lengths. It works up quickly so if you're using beads you already have, do a test run fir say, two inches, and use that as a guide to how many more you will need to achieve the length you want.

    I absolutely adore this bracelet design, but I am having a torrid time on this project with thread breaking. I have switched to using Fireline 8lb 0.009" but the crystals still cut through it within a day. Do you have any tips?

    • @Magic1Angie
      @Magic1Angie 10 років тому

      Just to add... I have been researching & everything I read says that even with fireline or wildfire you need to have a seed bead each side of a swarovski crytal otherwise the crystal will cut through the thread, yet this pattern doesn't follow this rule? I have just tried altering the pattern to add seed beads each side of the large crystal but the result was not so nice, huge gaps between the crystal. So now I am at a loss how you are managing this? Please help!

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому

      Magic1Angie Put 15/0 seed beads on the edges. We don't use bicone crystals much in designs and usually prefer to use Czech glass instead.

    • @Magic1Angie
      @Magic1Angie 10 років тому

      Potomac Bead Company Thanks, but (to state the obvious) you ARE using crystals in THIS design in THIS video!!!
      So now you tell me to adapt it the way I already said I have. Do I take it from your response that the actual bracelet in this video is IMPOSSIBLE to actually make and this tutorial is a lie???
      I have wasted not only a lot of time but also money as well copying your exact instructions. Very disappointing

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому

      Yes we did, probably just what was on hand. In most others though we tend to use Czech instead.

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому

      And like all videos, you can use whatever you want as long as the sizes fit together.

    It would be helpful if you gave a rough estimate of how many beads would be needed for this project

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  11 років тому

      It depends upon what size beads you are using, as this is a flexible project...

    how long of string do I need? I don't want to keep tying it. thanks

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  10 років тому

      We start pretty much every project with 3-6 feet of thread, and just add on if needed.

    What is the difference between diagonal and right angle weave?

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  11 років тому

      Diagonal stitch uses two needles, and RAW uses one. Because of the single needle in RAW, the project is also usually a bit tighter.

  • @83kellylove
    @83kellylove 11 років тому

    That's why I said rough estimate...

    • @Potomacbeadco
      @Potomacbeadco  11 років тому

      For 8mm beads you probably need about 16-20, for 6mm beads in the center, you probably need about 25 beads in the center. Whatever you use in the center (see the larger blue beads on the top image), you will need double that count for the outside beads (see the smaller blue crystals on the top image)
