Awe Shucks! Thanks y'all!☺️
@@kyleranneyany tips kyle?
I could have watched an hour or more of this. Thanks for making it.
Wish we had enough for an hour+ long version! Thanks for watching. 🙌🏻
@@matthewTobrien Please do!
Quality craftsmanship from a quality guy.
Agreed!
Idk how I haven’t watched this. Such good vibes. The brushing audio in the credits is a nice touch. The world needs more people like Mr Baldwin!
Yeah, really proud of this film. Our production sound recordist (Kyle Ranney) did a great job of getting all the audio I wanted. Glad you got to see this!
Simply wonderful. Thanks, Matthew - and Steve. I'm so glad I found this browsing you video collection.
great to see your toymaker film. it looks and sounds fab...captures the toy maker and his work.
Thanks for watching! Means a lot coming from you, Professor! 🙌🏻🤘🏻
Very enjoyable. Best wishes to Steve.
Thanks so much for watching! I need to check in with him soon...
Thank you for sharing 🎥👊🏼🙏🏼❤️
You’re welcome!
Steve is an amazing man... I'm so glad this documentary is on UA-cam. It lets the world know the warmth Steve exudes, and the talent he has cultivated over the many years he's been making toys. It's been over 10 years since our paths have crossed, but I'm a better person for our interactions at art shows. I feel great empathy for artists affected by COVID 19.
Appreciate you saying so - couldn’t have said it better! Thanks for watching. 👌🏻
Just amazing
Oooooh thank you! 🙌🏻
I could watch videos like this all day!
And we could happily make them! 🤣
Very cool.
Thanks for watching!
beautifully produced video 👏🏼
Thanks so much for watching!
Lovely film :)
Thanks for watching! 🙌🏻
What a great story. I am just starting on FCPX and video editing. Have been a recording artist for many years and have the audio side down. I really like your work and have started to learn a lot from your tutorials. Thank you
Great to hear, Kaleb! Thanks so much for watching!
Very nice!
Molto Bello :-)
Grazie!!!
🔥🔥🔥
This is Great! interesting subject and well told story. Mr. Baldwin's craftsmanship is top notch and the film really captures that.
Appreciate the kind words! Thanks for watching. This is one of my favorite things I’ve made. 🙌🏻
Dude - this documentary was brilliant. Subtle, emotional, informative. I love the style, timing and music. I'm just learning to film and edit. I aspire to be like this.
Wow, Blake. Thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to watch this short doc. I really love how it turned out and am so thankful to the crew (and colorist and sound mixer!) for their incredible work on this.
It’s exciting to hear that you’re on your own filmmaking journey - welcome to the club! Certainly hit up the community here through my channel if you ever need any help. 👍🏻
Also, damn wooden toys look gooooood!!
This guy does AMAZING work.
wow amazing work
Woow this is real work 🔥✊🏻
Obviously here from the fcpx magic tut and gotta say...5$ day fb ads and balwintoys is few years to go public...headed to the website to check it out...this documentary NEEDS advertisment ASAP...
Agreed!!! Thanks for the kind words about the doc. Was hoping they would use the film a bit more. Perhaps my new viewers and subs will help give them a big bump and they’ll decide to use it much more in their marketing/advertising. They make incredible toys!
Great stuff... can you pls discuss the audio production of the film~
Our sound recordist used his multi-channel field mixer paired with a boom mic and a wireless lav. The interview audio was a mix of the boom mic and the lav while some of the moments where Steve speaks to us while he's working was the boom mic only. We used a Tentacle to jam sync timecode between the field mixer and our C300 MkII and then used the Tentacle Sync Studio app to sync all of our clips and export an XML for Final Cut Pro X.
Our sound recordist also did the sound mix for the film. We exported an AAF using XtoPro, and he did the mix in ProTools. Thanks for asking about our audio workflow!
@@matthewTobrien Thanks a ton !!
We used a G3 with the ME2 and a Audix SCX1 into a Zoom f4. We used a ton of recorded folly in Protools. We really wanted you to feel the space with sound!
No way, you found that guy from the Netflix movie Klaus OMG
Might be Santa’s younger brother... 🎅🏻
Bro I just watched that now. Came to UA-cam and was interested in looking up toy makers lol
Uoww this áudio its perfect! How mic you use? Thank you! Great job!
Thanks! I hired a terrific sound recordist who works here in Omaha - I'm not sure exactly which mics he used, but Steve was mic'd with a wireless lav and then boomed for both the interview and all the other footage. The sound was also mixed by our recordist using ProTools - he (Kyle Ranney - www.kyleranney.com) did an awesome job!

@@kyleranney you did that very well! It was immersive. I think i started smelling fresh cedar at one point, how’d y’all accomplish that?! 😂
Just watched this. Loved it. Great work. One question. Were you using a mic on a boom? Just curious. I tried to look for a lav and couldn't see it. (I'm the guy who you helped with the "Control T" feature on FCP. Thanks.
Yup, we had a book mic and a lav. Our excellent sound recordist hid it in Steve’s shirt. I do everything I possibly can to keep lav mics hidden. 🎤🤫
@@matthewTobrien Very impressive. I stopped the video, enlarged it the best I could on my desktop, and couldn't spot a mic at all. I'm a fan of short documentaries and yours was an exceptional video. I know nothing about making documentaries, but I want to give it a try. I tell my would-be subjects that 1) I don't know what I'm doing and 2) I don't have an audience...but I have a few friends willing to let me experiment.

@@kyleranney Well, it paid off. Great job on the documentary AND the sound. Thanks for the reply.
This is an amazing piece of work; from the color grading to the mood to the camera angles to the story itself. Great work. Please can we see BTS so we can learn from your great skills level? I hope I am not asking for too much.
Truly flattered. Thank you so much for your kind words. I shared them with the crew! And, sadly, I only have BTS photos - no video. :( But it's certainly possible to consider doing a breakdown of the production process (gear we used) and post-production to help viewers up their game in their documentary filmmaking. Thanks for watching! And check out Baldwin Toys - their stuff is great for gifts!
Making wooden toys ASMR?
Thinking about it! Haha.
