His ability to speak in his animal forms has always been a rule that's been played fast and loose
It was canon in the comics that beast boy could speak as an animal. But in the Teen Titans show they made a strict no talking as an animal rule because they thought it was too... loonie and they didn't want to.
Now everyone who makes their own version decides on what they like and what will fit their medium.

I like how Young Justice’s Beast boy calls Miss Martian “sis” because he sorta shares the same blood as her.
How's that?
A explosion at his home left him in shock and needing a blood transfusion or else he won’t make it. Unfortunately no one had his blood type, so Miss Martian used her shapeshifting powers to make her alien blood the same as his, underwent the blood transfusion, and save his life and gave him his animal shapeshifting abilities.

It seems like one of BB's default moves is getting above an opponent and turning into an elephant.
He seems to only do characters who can survive having 7 tons on top of them, but those characters are often the ones that are strong enough to lift an elephant off of themselves.
and knock an elephant out too lmao. i think he should really take a more ant-man approach to dodging hits but then again it's not like I know how hard it is to spam transformations
what he should do is turn into a bacteria, go up their nose, and then turn into an elephant

I like how beast boys powers get 'upgraded' in a sence when he goes to another planet or realm
More like his DNA adapts to the environment he is in and transforms to the ideal creature suited for it imo.

When you think about, if Beast Boy mastered his power, he would be the most powerful Titan of them all. Regardless of if his power comes from a Martian or the Red, he could transform into a full blooded Kryptonian or a New God through shapeshifting his DNA or utilizing the Red to straight up become his equivalent in that species.
Beast Boy is voiced by Logan Grove in the first two seasons of Young Justice. Grove went on to the navy, so that is why Greg Cripes voices him in Outsiders
Seeing how smooth the animal changes are makes me daydream, wonder, and hope the animator teams for these character designs take up animating into a full tv show like YJ with the Animorphs book series. One can dream tho, right? 🤩

BeastBoys voice from the OG teen titans is the only voice that really suits him.
Find it pretty cool how varied DC's animal powers get. You have characters like Beast Boy and Animal Vegetable Mineral Man who completely turn into the animals, Vixen and I think Animal Man who can take on animal attributes for added strength, speed and agility and then you have characters like Aquaman and B'Wana Beast who can control animals (B'Wana Beast also being able to fuse them). Add to that all the hyper intelligent animals (usually gorillas) like Grodd, Mallah and Cong Gorilla and you have a pretty diverse set of animal themed characters here.
You just listed 3 subclasses and fit nearly all of their well known animal based characters into them…..maybe “varied” isn’t exactly the right word
Definitely recommend reading Sandman too, as one or two storylines go an extra level on DC's animal lore (as most of the regular animals and magical beings in-universe have their own beliefs and values, like one of the storylines centers on cats and their dreams).
*Technically it's more of a Vertigo series than a DC one, but at the time it was written it has a few elements that makes it partially part of the DC canon. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which bird? Parrot? Falcon? Eagle? Canary?
Her powers are very specific. She has to know what she is turning into and it looks like there is a reaction time for each. Also she was lifted for like 2 seconds then brought down. That's not a lot of time to think, decide a strategy and move on. She also had no idea how strong the kick would be. Maybe she thought Wonderwoman would throw her and she could transform in the air again.
Either way maybe she just did not think of it in time? Maybe her next plan was to turn into an elephant and hope the weight would crush her opponent. Maybe an octopus to wrap around her and fight with extra arms and poison. Maybe she would become a monkey to flexibly move around her arms and flail.
When you can become everything, it is a little harder to decide on an action/ strategy.
I thought Vixen’s powers were that she could mimic animal’s abilities in her human form? Not completely shapeshift into them like beast boy

BB in theory could be one of the most powerful - if he studied Kryptonian animals - and stared small - Bees from there or dog - then work his way up he could be one of the most powerful. But it seems the powers that be wont allow it. IF he managed to turn into the equivalent of a Grizzly - Clark couldn't beat him - WW maybe.
I've always thought that among the Teen Titans, Gar was the coolest.

After playing D&D, I've been seeing a connection:
Beast boy = Druid (circle of the moon)
Robin = Dex fighter or Rogue (Arcane Trickster, but with gadgets instead of magic)
Raven = Warlock or Sorcerer
Starfire = Sorcerer for sure
Blue Beetle = Wizard (because the beetle is tech I guess), or another Sorcerer, maybe a Pact of the Blade Warlock.

I would go with a mix of Shadow Sorcerer and Fiend Warlock for Raven. She has natural abilities due to her heritage, but also draws power from Trigon

@@ShadowAtronach666 that is not COMPLETELY accurate. Garfield can transform into ANY animal or insect he's seen, no matter if they are extinct, from another planet, or from another dimension. If he see it he can turn into it. In fact his powers even go farther in Teen Titans (the show). Allowing him to turn into a single celled organisms, and even mutated beasts (but that was specific and due to genetic/ chemical mutation) .
Basically he has a REALLY advanced power and one of the most flexible in the DC universe. He can even speak the language of other animals so long as he is in their form.

For people that keep commenting about the woman transforming into a Male lion, there is the possibility that these shapeshifters can not only change their species but also their sex. In Norse mythology Loki took the form of a female horse & gave birth to Sleipnir, the eighth legged horse. Perhaps she preferred the male lion because male lions are larger than the female lions. However it is curious than none in this series can change their colors.
It's to tell hey I'm a shapeshifter. Except mystic the tv show and movies has to tell us obviously that this is mystic.

If there was a "DC Comics" and "Lord of the Rings" Crossover Animated Movie, I can see Beast Boy turn into The Balrog, he can literally shape shift into literally every Species around the Universe not just Animals from Earth, but other Monsters, Demons, Dragons and even a freaking Kaiju.
