  • In the Europacenter in Berlin there is a special clock developed by Dr. Bernhard Gitton. It was inaugurated on 6 May 1982. The clock is able to reach an accuracy of 6 seconds just with its six suction lifter. Four suction lifters count the number of pendulum movements, and with 24 pendulum movements, water is sucked out of a small round container by the negative pressure created when the lowermost suction lifter flows out, and another disk is filled in the minute column.
If this is full after one hour, it also flows empty and the resulting negative pressure sucks water from the larger ball in the upper middle of the center into the left hour column, which fills up another ball. After 12 hours, the whole clock empties and the process begins again.
