- This is per request of contest winner George Tourlos who guessed 5 of my favorite bands (Rush, Thin Lizzy, The Beatles, Kiss, and Queen). Great song from a great live album!
As a 55 year old, it's great to read comments from people who have never heard this before.
I grew up listening to these albums.
Great band.
if you're in a live album mood I highly recommend UFOs strangers in the night album. In my opinion is one of the greatest live albums ever made and Eddie Trunk always says it's his favorite live album.
70’s Scorpions 🔥🔥🔥
Used to have this on vinyl back in high school, miss that album
Uli Jon Roth such and underrated guitarist. One of the last metal guys that played feel rather than notes, even though he can do both.
@@gregtroyan Here a fine example. Of these 3 world class guitarist Uli is the one that captures the soul and writes a song within his solo. ua-cam.com/video/PNQFximXa00/v-deo.html
Rodeo From Hell
More (my) select Roth penned songs in Scorpions library: Drifting Sun.. Sun In My Hand... Hellcat... Polar Nights
RIGHT ON !!
Nice! First listen. I cant help but hear Still Loving You & Big City Nights from my youth even though this came first.
Good pick. Great choice! I have not heard Tokyo Tapes album before , but I am familiar I’m familiar with their 70’s catalog. I too learned of them in the early 80’s- was my first concert actually, “Love at first Sting” tour 1984. 16 years!old. Brought my dad ( if your a girl, you know dads) and one of my good male friends. Bought al three tickets for $75 dollars total!( Forum lodge seating but still awesome). These guys are so good( I am biased). Klaus brings something magical with his voice. All members, current and past...I just get lost. Saw them in 2018 and they still kick ass! Played a food portion of. The early Scorp’s songs which was great as my girls had not heard them before and they loved it.
Greg Troyan that’s awesome. My daughters and I do that as well as you know, they were raised in the classics. My dad however was being a dad haha but that’s okay. I think he may have had a bit of fun .
That was an excellent reaction Greg.
Thanks for reacting to my pick man. 🤟🤟
God, it's been a LONG time since I last heard this! THANK YOU!!!
I really can't believe I forgot about this song. I used to listen to them a lot growing up.
Damn, that was great! My musical horizon is expanding...Holy moly Greg and George (request winner), that was AWESOME balls! The SOUND!!! That gorgeous guitar was clean and what an evocative , reflective sound. Tempo changes...great vocalist. I felt I could understand everything I heard...lyrics, instruments. Wow. Converting......
You are very welcome my friend. Everything in my opinion from 72' to 79'
Scorpions is flawless. Enjoy going down the rabbit hole. Im excited for you
George Tourlos 🙂🙂🙂
80s Scorpions ok im a 70s fan Uli Jon Roth Hell Yes saw Scorpions in 82 and Uli Jon Roth saw him in 2019 the Agora in Cleavland front row going to see Uli in 2024 live cant wait !!!
Cool! I'm actually from Cleveland originally.
You have to give credit to any band that has been going for 56 years and is still playing. Klaus' voice is iconic. "Give her inches and feed her well." Love it. Other live albums, The Who, ‘Live at Leeds’ (1970), Johnny Cash, ‘At Folsom Prison’ (1968).
@@gregtroyan I'm more of a Who fan now than I was back in the day. I guess once you lose some of the original members nostalgia takes over.
Lynyrd Skynyrd One More ForX From the Road 76
Bob Seger Live Bullet '76
Outlaws Bring it Back Alive 78
Rush All The World's a Stage 76
What a time to be alive and into Rock Music!
This is one of the great rock tracks. The guitar solo is sublime.
But you mentioned Herman Rarebells drumming. He is not a player you will see mentioned in top drummer polls but his performance on this track is simply outstanding. The driving double bass played at different tempos underpinning the guitar solo at the end is wonderful.
Check out Strangers in the Night by UFO. Outstanding live lp. Also Live Go For What You Know by Pat Travers.
For a different live experience you should try Space Ritual by Hawkwind featuring a pre Motorhead Lemmy. An entirely different live experience and it's not for everyone. But it's sensational at least to my ears!
Love the bookcase!
For what it’s worth, “That Metal Show” ranked “Tokyo Tapes” #4 greatest live albums ever. ...FYI, UFO’s “Strangers in the Night” came in at #1
Great pick, I never knew this song was about Hendrix. I started to get into to the Scorpions a couple of years back. I got a bunch of 70s albums and a couple of mid 80s and this was one of them. Tokyo Tapes rules!. I saw them live for the first time 2 years ago supporting Def Leppard and they blew them off stage imo. Those guys must be pushing 70, but still so much energy, very impressive. Def Leppard weren't terrible either.
Hey Greg! I have never heard the Scorpions' 70's music. A big thank you to George on this! I, like many others probably identify with their Love at First Sting album? Not sure. I did lose track of them and am embarrassed once again! haha. I will say, I do think I prefer this 70's sound!! It's unmistakenly The Scorpions, but for some reason this song really hit. Its beginning and middle so delicate; the lyrics simple - but heartfelt and finally that amazing ending guitar solo work. omg! I know I'm rambling, but this was really surprising to me, being live as well. Well done. I seem to have more listening to do! haha. You and other subs have listed the "Live" albums, so... I think that's it? lol. Have a great day and hope your headache stays "relieved", friend. :)
Haha. Had Love at First Bite, at to begin with... I think that's a movie? idk. This is not my day. :)
@@gregtroyan Thanks Greg! Tomorrow will be better - Hope springs eternal?! haha. See ya next time! :)
You are very welcome 🤘🤘
Definitely dive into 70's Scorpions. You will not regret it. Anything from 72'to79' is flawless.
Good tune. 😺🏴
Really enjoyed this song. I've only heard wind of change makes me want to hear more. Also, credit to you Greg for working through a headache to bring us another great video.
I used to own this album. I had forgotten about it. Yes, it is a great album.
Great Scorpions song...never heard it before - or if I have I've forgotten. Great reaction from you as well! Other "Live" albums back then that got played a lot by me were - Humble Pie - Rockin' The Filmore - Grand Funk Live Album and Bloodrock Live. Enjoyed all of them - still do!

This is cool, I haven't heard this before. I guess I come from the 80's Scorpions group. lol
You're not alone TJ! lol :)
Some of my favorite 70's live ablums...Thin Lizzy - Live and Dangerous, Neil Young - Live Rust, Joe Cocker - Mad Dogs & Englishmen, Cheap Trick at Budokan. I am sure there are others but those are the ones that come to mind.
the 70s my fav era for scorps
Love the Scorpions, was slow to catch on to them (they had the 'metal' tag which always keeps me away, had the same issue with BOC) and haven't really explored the 70s stuff so this was fresh and very cool. Other great (mostly) underrated 70s live albums include CSNY - 4 Way Street, The Guess Who - Live at the Paramount, Wings Over America (the only post-Beatles McCartney album you really need IMHO) and Harry Chapin - Greatest Stories Live. Chicago at Carnegie Hall is also wayyyyyyyy better than it's reputation.
The real sting!!
“In Trance” from the same album is really good also. It is also on their DVD-Live at Wacken Open Air 2006. The sound quality is good on the DVD but the camera work sucks. 😎🎸🥩(it seems like u maybe on the Keto diet)
