@@SarahandMarek Just Google Gypsy Guide (because UA-cam won't allow me to post a link) There are a multitude of routes all over USA & Canada and new routes are being added periodially. Download them to your phone and keep them. They will get updated with time. Each route is its own app, they are only a few dollars each and very well worth having.

I've been waiting for this one! I've been to Oahu a few times, Kauai, and Maui and the only thing I didn't get to do was the Road to Hana. My one regret. I wanted to drive there and take the helicopter tour back. Tour was booked though. So glad you got to do it! Looking forward to more video of it!
I used that travel guide app in Yellowstone it is awesome. Got your backpack it works so great for camera gear and other items.

We love Maui and have been four times. The road to Hana was 10+ years ago for us and we still talk about it a lot. I liked the disclaimer about the "video effect" no drones allowed, wink wink. I have a few of those "video effects" from our recent Cancun trip.
The video effect is the transition between standing in the garden and the drone shot
I drove the road to Hana 8 times in 2 days. I couldn't get enough 💜 I met the barefoot owner of twin water falls on the plane so of course we had to pay a visit

Yes that is an awesome road trip. Slot of places to stop along the way. On our honeymoon we found some remote and secluded swimming holes. We even got to do some honeymoon skinny-dipping. What fun...

I’m sure somebody else has already commented on this but I found going the opposite direction around the south of the island to Hana a lot better crowd wise.
But Definitely need to get a Hardy vehicle for That run LOL!
But I think COVID kind of cleared the path for them in the way of crowd avoidance. 😉👌

Enjoyed reliving my own journey on the Road to Hana through this video! I recognized many spots even though it's been almost a decade since I was there. You had good timing with all the rain - when we went it had been dry for several days and the waterfalls were much less dramatic. Cant wait for the 2nd half, great idea to stay overnight - that way you can really take your time and explore. There are SO many things to see!
That’s an incredible drive if you take your time and hit some waterfalls , I was with the wrong person , she kept getting mad because the road turned so much , I was driving safely 🤷♂️ needless to say that relationship didn’t last long . You two are a great couple , refreshing .

You two seem like a nice couple... your wife is totally cool... that only adds to her attractiveness... Plus; I can see how happy and excited she is in Maui and I totally get that as I hv been there 4 times now and spent 3 full months last year in 2021...!!! // TIP - it is very worth booking 1-2 nights in Hana so you can do all the things without rushing which your wife eluded to at 2 pm.... The Hana Maui Resort by Hyatt is on a spectacular pice of property... they also hv condo's for rent or of course VRBO or Air B&B options... // Red Sand Beach next to the cottages and Hamoa beach a short drive from there ar e very nice !!! // Waianapanapa State Park is also near by and requires a Res w a window period for entry so that is much easier to do from Hana... // Tip - if u opt to do only 1 night in Hana, just double pay for your hotel back in town and add this... if you hv a longer stay, then you can plan to leave from here back to the airport but don't make it an early flight !!! Mahalo 🙂

OMG.... So beautiful! Sorry to see the rain ruined some of your time but it was still a luxury video for the viewers. Great job on the editing and production. I hope you didn't take any black sand home with you! It is very bad luck. I had a friend that went there with her hubby and unbeknownst to her he put black sand back to the mainland. All kinds of bad things started happening to them in the next several months. Then the confession came out from her husband. She immediately called the travel agent to find out where she could mail it back to the islands. :(
Was the roadside stand that had the awesome kaluha pork in a palm leaf open? Did the loop in Oct 2019 in a non 4 wheel drive which I wouldn't recommend. Did Haleakala in the same day which made for a long day.

KABOOM. That is the sound I am about to make as I binge videos. We have been so busy prepping for our full time travels and hustling *hears the song* that I have slacked on watching some of my favorite creators like y'all that helped encourage me that my forever dream was not that crazy. The Gypsy guide seems AMAZING. This drive is beautiful. I will be on Oahu in Hawaii to visit my little brother who lives there so was looking for things to add to my itinerary and came across your video... I see myself getting quickly sidetracked.

Me and my Alison used that app when we went to the Big Island a few years back just when the volcano blew !!...really informative...Fin, your blue eyes are as beautiful as that Hawaiian water !!..if you guys are ever in Cape Coral swing on by !!
I love Hawaii SO much!! I have focused mostly on the Big Island, and found Maui to be VERY WINDY when I stopped there, ( nearly blew the plane over on the Tarmac) So Going to Oahu every trip for a few days and then going to either Kauai or Big Island has been my routine with only a few stops in Maui... Your video certainly gave me a different view and Now I might want to spend the whole vacation there... Just curious how much you spent total there, that would be great information?????? :) I am a little tighter budget now than when I was working fulltime, but Hey, I do have more TIME! :)

Yay!!!! You used gypsy guide!!! My husband and I used that on our trip and always recommend it to everyone who goes to Maui. It’s a game changer. Gypsy guide has also done multiple other national parks and popular drives even Yosemite and Sequoia. Come back to CA and try your trip again with the guide. The fires have cleared up and the falls are in full flow again. May is a much better month to see Yosemite.

the only food option open on the road to Hana is the shrimp truck and they’re only serving fish and chips or coconut shrimp near the end a few miles from Hana

The gypsy guide is truly great. I used it first when I did a road trip with Yellowstone and Utah. I am going to Maui this winter and I am pleased to see that gypsy has Maui as an option!
roughly how much do you pay for 2 people per day on food and gas if staying in maui for 6 nights and you're doing road trips?
My husband and I did that drive in June 1988. It was a beautiful drive to the seven sacred pools. We loved Maui the best. 🌴
