Ultravox- Man of two worlds -The song is about a man torn between the modern world and the ancient one of his ancestors. The words sung by Mae McKenna are Scots Gaelic. A language once spoken throughout Scotland but now mostly spoken only on the Outer Hebrides, a group of beautiful windswept islands off the North West of Scotland. Gaelic now mostly being superceded by English. The standing stones on the album cover are the Calanais Stones (Callansh in English) these are a 5000 year old stone circle built by the ancient peoples on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. I was on that very spot 4 days ago. :-) Thanks for the reaction video.
Ultravox was a great band, a lot of good songs. They had two periods: the post-punk era with John Foxx as their lead vocalist, then the synth-driven era with Midge Ure. I like both periods, they each have their own charms...
The other language was Gaelic a language spoken by ancient Britons, before the Roman period. Midge Ure is Scottish, where the language is still spoken.
David Palmer was with ABC only for a brief period. He is much more well known for being Rod Stewart's drummer for several decades. Hard to pigeonhole ABC's sound. Most of their music is very soulful since that style suits Martin Fry's singing voice the best. Hope you check out more of their music. They were one of my favorite 80's bands and they're still going strong with Martin at the helm.
@@gscranage4594 Yes, totally, but in this case apparently wrong. Anne Dudley did use an orchestra and not just a Fairlight CMI with J. J. Jeczalik who she later formed Art of Noise with. The sampling was on the band itself, not the orchestra, I obviously misremembered.

“All of My Heart” is one of the great 80s pop tunes, in my opinion...just beautifully crafted, it shimmers.
Definitely their best.

Wow a reaction to Ultravox!! Love them.

Lexicon of Love is a classic, all the way through! Ultravox too, although I prefer Vienna.
If you like Lexicon of Love check out Lexicon if Love II releases in 2015(?). I love both.
For an uplifting ABC track try When Smokey Sings. And obviously Poison Arrow and/or The Look of Love

Once upon a time when we were friends i gave you my heart. The story ends.
That you're playing and listening to this song confirms to me that you're a good woman, understand the lyrics though ,you're nice woman
ABC'S Lexicon of Love like Al Stewart's Year of the Cat are both beautifully produced albums. There is not one duff track on this album.
⚠️ Music of the 80s : the best !!! ⚠️
Witnessing a man spill his guts out! ❤️
My favorite ABC song is The Night You Murdered Love.
Lol english is my second language and I was like 13 when this song came, so many wrong guesses 'remember rain, surrender rain.. '
'Surrender rain bell parts...'
Synth pop! Could you not hear the Orchestra?
The orchestra was synthesised sounds created by Trevor Horn and not a real one.
@@vernonrabbetts Are you for real?
