    If you're 6'8 - 6'10" you should be expected to dunk. The 5'6" guys should be getting crowds more pumped than some guy who doesn't really have to put too much effort into dunking - even though it looks good. It's like if I jumped in a pickup game of preschoolers at 5'10" and dunked on the Fisher Price rim and the little girls watching spit out their juice.

    It seriously does not impress when a 6'5+ guy is dunking on someone else. They can reach they're arms up and it will be inches away from the rim. That's not true Vertical. I'd much rather see a guy that's like 5'11 / 6'2 dunk on someone.

    • @goukimess
      @goukimess 10 років тому +20

    I seriously don't understand why the hell these kids stare down the person they dunked on.
    This is a game. Yes, you get hyped, but the stare down is straight up disrespectful, distasteful, and shows a sad need to feel "big" in front of others.
    If you have an amazing talent, use it and enjoy it, but don't use it to belittle others.
    Freaking hate this kind of crap attitude that is ruining sports.

    • @shotbynoir
      @shotbynoir 10 років тому +66

      you sound very sensitive maybe you should play a bitch sport like chess.

    • @truekoreanlover
      @truekoreanlover 10 років тому +16

      Rion Patterson
      You might as well say, "you should try some bitch shit like going to college."
      I suck at chess personally, but dam that game takes some serious thinking.
      Back to topic, it's not about sensitivity, it's about class and respect. I fucking love the physical aspect of basketball. If a big guy sizes me up under the basket, I'll shove my knee up his ass and make him work for it. If a guy throws a cheap bow at me holds my shirt, I'll play dirty right back. I'll dive for every last loose ball and play as scrappy as necessary. That's fine and it makes the game hella fun...
      But when people start staring each other down, ESPECIALLY friends, I seriously wonder why they play ball. If you want to really stroke your ego, instead of staring down a guy on the court, you act with some class, earn a crap load of money, and you buy the fking world. That i'll salute.

    • @whiteguilt2887
      @whiteguilt2887 10 років тому +7

      you mad bro?
      That's like saying " I don't get why hockey players bodycheck another player in hockey, or soccer players slide for the ball, or catcher taunts the batter in baseball"
      you must be a product of liberal

    • @truekoreanlover
      @truekoreanlover 10 років тому +14

      white guilt
      I'm sorry, but you seem to be a little delusional in your reply.
      A hockey bodychecking another serves a very necessary purpose for the game. It's as important as a football player tackling the opponent with the ball.
      A soccer player sliding for the ball, like the hockey play, is necessary.
      Now, catcher taunting the batter is the only one of your three examples that makes somewhat sense, and yes, I would say that it's bad. I understand the aspect that you're trying to get any advantage that you can, but by attacking the opponent in such a way? I think that is not only a lack of class, but, more accurately, a lack of character. Go ahead and tell me how it's a game, but I think EVERYTHING you do in your life should reflect your character. That's just being a human.
      "product of a liberal" Bro, you must be the mad one.
      Anyone that insults and/or sides with either liberal/conservative is an idiot.
      Those are two sides of the same coin. Maybe you'll figure that out one day when you're done being mad.

    • @truekoreanlover
      @truekoreanlover 10 років тому +2

      ***** Feelings hurt by this? Yes.
      Personally? No. I had amazing coaches in high school and college. Before any basketball, they taught me self-control. Play with emotion, but never lose control of it. This kind of stuff didn't hurt me personally.
      What hurts me is when I see younger boys in my church and neighborhood make a single basket, then spend 5 minutes showboating. What hurts me is seeing how these boys have to resort to such pathetic displays in order to feel important because our homes are so broken.
      So to answer you question, yes, I am hurt by this. My viewpoint is shared by most people, it's just that with the current "Suck it up" culture, too few people are willing to admit it.
      You can act all hard you want, but someday, although I hope not, someone close to you will suffer because of this type of culture. I'm all for playing hard in basketball, but I never think attacking someone outside of the aspects of the game is ever warranted. Celebrate all you want, but never at the cost of another.

    I don't understand why people bitch about how easy it is for these guys to dunk. Sure, it's easy on a fast break if you're wide open, but playing against defenders in the paint who are likely near their height or taller, it gets harder to absorb contact and dunk on someone without getting hurt. There's at least some difficulty in dunking on people.

    I'm not really all that good when it comes to rules in basketball, so if someone could clarify something for me, that would be great:
    It's about two dunks. The one at 1:33 and the last one. In both cases it looked to me as if the defenders had established their position and the player crashed into them. In the last one the contact actually gave him some additional height, Aussie Rules style. But only the first one was ruled a foul.
    What was the defender doing wrong in the last one then?

    • @TayBuggyYaDigg
      @TayBuggyYaDigg 10 років тому +3

      I'm not sure about high school rules, but in NCAA and NBA, it's all about the restrited area. In the last dunk, the defender was still moving and both of his heels were in "the circle"

    • @Clubber-Slang
      @Clubber-Slang 10 років тому +1

      1st one you mentioned looked like the ref might have actually called a charge in the game, the kid dunking has a weird look on his face & action stops so if it was a block the ref took a second to decide. On the last one the the defender is sliding in still when the freak athlete is already in planting his foot to take off, but he definitely uses the dude as a ladder for like an extra foot of vertical!

    Speaking as a white dude that grew up playing on the south side of Chicago (the actual south side, public-red-south, not some way-out suburb) i'll say this is not a coincidence. We will try to take a charge and/or make you earn the posterization. I dunno, maybe we secretly like the punishment. I've gotten a knee in the chest from Paul Mcpherson and Ronnie Fields, just to name a couple,.

    It's lose not ''loose'' so u just got owned. The first white guy to get dunked on didn't even reach the black buy's head on the block. The one who got dropped hard on the ground also jumped up like 15inches to block a 6'8'' beast.The one who was trying to draw a charge was nearly right under the basket so anyone who can dunk wudda dunked on his ass. And the second one was also close enough that i would've dunked on him and i'm almost 6'1''. I could've easely dunked on all the whites there..

    Chances are very few to none of these guys will make it to the NBA. That's even if they get help getting their diploma. Chances are, you will likely make more money in your lifetime than they will. Most of these guys are living in some fantasy land of becomming the next MJ. I see this too often. Guys that can dunk like this thinking it's their ticket.

    I read it in an article. I then researched it myself because you can't base your opionion off one article. I found white, hispanic, and black rates. I've been called a racist many times. It no longer bothers me. The term has been so watered down it means nothing anymore. I talk about crime stats also. I talk about legal racism against Whites. And that's taboo. That's racist. :-)

    I never said or suggested I was or wasn't racist. Graduation rates are what they are. If all the guys dunking in the vid were Asian, my comment wouldn't have made much sense as Asians have a very high graduation rate. No way you'd see 49 thumbs up. 47% of black males fail to get a high school diploma. Comprende?

    When is the ref gonna call a charge foul on some of these plays??? Do they not exist in the States? Don't get me wrong man there is some great talent gettin around there with those kids, but is the ref there to referee the game or is the game allowed to play on for the entertainment side of things. Awesome clip all in all though.

    If you know that you have no chance of blocking him then what's the point in getting posterized and also fouling the player?? Maybe i wouldn't be better then the whites because they have more experience but i surely have more talent and im not bragging i'm just saying what i actually thing.. I'm not just good at dunking. (As i said i'm a lot better now)

    its funny how dunks get such praise and spots on top 10 plays and so on, but they are the easiest things to do in sports. hilarious...jump put ball in hole. little to no eye hand coordination required. guess they have to get excited about something other than robbin and gang bangin.

    Just because you can dunk doesn't mean you are good at basketball. Too many kids put too much emphasis on dunking. Dunkers are a dime a dozen. Guys that can hit from 20 feet consistantly are not. I'd rather have the guy that can shoot on my team. I want to win.

    The only thing I didn't like in the video is people staring at the camera or at the person they just violated. Sportsmanship is severely lacking in today's sporting arenas. You made the play, fine. Now get back and play the other end of the court instead of trying to look bad.
