Nice work guys! This is so fun to watch reviving an old vehicle. Goes to show with a bit of cash and knowledge you can score huge. Good luck making it to race season ✌️
I appreciate you guys saving another Honda. Hey if he has the vtec e see about swapping to a z6 head before the supercharger. Super jealous on that Jackson racing supercharger. The e is the econo VTEC so reverse of performance. Can't wait!
You can use a flathead with a good sharp tip and work it around. Just be extra careful not to damage any of the aluminum that holds it in place. Just do it with care and patience it’ll come out. Some of the old school guys do it a little differently, they take a screw and in the center of the seal they just run in the screw a little bit until it bites the seal pretty good then just get a clip removal tool or a pair of pliers and yank on the screw it’ll come out.
To put the now one in just place it as straight as possible and tap it into place using preferably a seal installer tool but you can do it with something like a dead blow rubber mallet or a piece of wood and tap it with a hammer. You want the seal flush around all sides and not crooked
Could use a pick or something that’s hooked and slim as well to get behind the seal from the inner sealing area that seals the crankshaft ... put in the pick..turn it...and pull. Boom seal comes out.
Zeisan Shima I would advise against this method as you could gouge the metal surface if your not careful and cause leaks in the future. One tip I have seen is drilling a screw in the middle of the seal and pull on the screw. I was just wondering if garage built Honda’s had a better method. Thanks for the reply 👍
Looking good . Ton of work got done. I remember when i picked up a eg hatch with a b series in it. Wasnt driveable because flywheel bolts backed themselves out.
Those tires are great but they are LOUD. I had them on my EF and it sounded like I was being followed by a small engine airplane. I just bought a set of the Federal 595 RS PROs for my GTI which are an updated version of the RSR-R with way less noise. They are super grippy. The EJ and EG chassis are my favorite old school civic I think.
Thanks for the feedback!! I don't know if he'll care, but we'll see. I'm interested in trying out their updated tire also, I loved how these felt when my friend in the silver crx let me borrow his car for the day in this video. Forgot to add the link. ua-cam.com/video/N791C2-wlgU/v-deo.html
@@GarageBuiltHondas The price and performance of the RSR-R far outweighs the noise to me honestly. The grip was great for the money on my EF with Ksport Kontrol coilovers and Konig Wideopen wheels. Love the Z1's! I have a bit of a weird obsession with them haha, if you guys run into any drive-ability issues message me. The Z1's are really particular about what you do to them as the vtec-e is a 3 stage fuel economy vtec. Before vtec-e engages at around 2400-3200rpm depending on throttle, it is running in a 3-valve per cylinder operation. Once vtec-e activates it is in 4-valve normal operation. They're really fascinating yet simple in terms of how Honda designed them to operate in lean-burn. California models use a 4-wire o2 without lean-burn, the rest use a 5-wire o2 which is essential for the lean burn operation, it's quite interesting what Honda tried in the 90's.
@@GarageBuiltHondas I feel that would boil down to which ECU you decide to run the engine with mainly. With the original p07 ECU you'll be running really lean up until v-tec engagement and will have a 6200rpm rev-limiter. I believe the Z1 would most likely benefit being ran off of a chipped p28 or similar ECU since that would change the fueling and rev-limiter, but you might need to change fuel injectors at minimum as the OEM Z1 injectors are 180cc compared to most of the D series models being 240cc. The Z1 should be okay with an increased rev-limiter as it uses d16 137mm length rods on a d15 sized crank journal, so you have a higher rod-to-stroke ratio than most other d-series for less friction during operation. Might have to re-grind or swap the cam for more performance in the higher revs, but not too sure as to which. The Z1 is one of the only D's that has a roller-rocker valve train as well for quieter operation. Compression is 9.3 to 1 where the Z6 is a 9.2 to 1. The Z1 is essentially the 1.5 liter model of the D16Z6 as they share many of the same parts. The Z6 uses a 104 tooth timing belt and the Z1 uses a 103 tooth belt but the same tensioner, and both use a TD-42u distributor. Also keep in mind you might need to port match most manifolds that aren't the OEM Z1 intake manifold to the head as the Z1 has the smallest intake ports of any d15.
You really are the expert! Lol Love the info, thank you greatly. His charger came with upgraded injectors and a chipped p06 that the previous owner was using but I don't know if he knows what engine the charger was on as he bought it online off Facebook. No major problems until now - transmission issues. This generation of Hondas has had loads of transmission issues. I got more miles out of my Accord than most have. Suddenly one day it's driving fine then without warning all hell breaks loose. Well, I can't honestly say it was without warning because I had noticed a definite jerk, usually after turning a corner. I had a friend that had changed a bad motor mount for me so I attributed it to a bolt that may have come loose. It was my only mode of transportation and I had no other option to get to a new job so I put it off. On my way home from work one day after leaving the parking garage and half way home, it suddenly wouldn't pick up speed after taking off from a red light. It wouldn't go beyond 20 mph any attempt to increase the speed was pointless the engine would only rev up. Then all of a sudden it changes gears and it was fine. I haven't had it diagnosed as being the transmission, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist. I'm guessing that installing or rebuilding a transmission may cost more than what the car is worth. It's taking a much needed rest. What would you do Honda lovers? I'm open to suggestions!

The best learning is experience. If you're willing to learn, you will. You may have a bad head gasket if the coolant reservoir is filling up and bubbling.
Not necessarily a bad head, but the head gasket may need replacing. The coolant is mixing with the oil and the heat is causing the coolant to bubble over and push out through the coolant reservoir.
Hey Jon this just a random question I want to get some kosei k1’s for my 91 crx in a 15x7 which offset do you thing I should go with they only have +38,+30 and +25.
vtec d15?!!! jelly. my 91 civic has a doodoo D15 and a similar clutch issue. car off, shifts fine. but with car on it wont shift at all.. adj the cable to the max gives the pedal some feel but still wont allow it to shift. is it possible to put that fork in backwards?
No, he did not. Ray told me he bought it and asked to bring it over. He ran it before buying and it idles and holds temp very well so he pulled the trigger. We've driven it around the neighborhood and it feels great, no smoking and runs smooth.
Just a suggestion less music and maybe a more asmr style where we just hear you working instead of the music. Sometimes I find it hard to focus. It might just be me. For example taylor ray on youtube does this and I like it. For my question Where did you start researching and learning information about these cars to become so knowledgeable?

Nice! Love my 93 civic ej1 coupe, and miss my eg hatchback... these cars are great
Agree. Fun, cheap reliable beaters!
how does the sealed floor hold up to jackstands? does it crack it or damage it easily?
No. It holds up well. It might scratch it if you drag it across the floor though. It can also be chipped if dropped from.a high height.
Nice...have 2 93 coupes which one is a bare shell I just got and need to slap a swap in it.
They have such sleek lines. I really like the EG coupe.
My first love was a 91 integra but also have a weak spot for egs
Yup, DA's get me everytime!
Another good video widmer. Some solid work
Thanks homie
I have 93 civic dx that I'm fixing and it my first time doing it haves a D15b7
Wait a second... How did this coupe come with d15z1 ? Those only came on vx hatches
It was swapped in at some point in time.
That’s a nice $500 dollar pick up on the coupe. And I love that tire and wheel set up. And where did you find that supercharger at?
Facebook marketplace!
Garage Built Hondas oh ok I see! I would love to put one on my del sol that’s why.
It should be fun!!
Garage Built Hondas yeah I can’t wait to see the video when it’s getting installed and the test drive after.
Can’t wait to see the finished product
Us too, still working on it!
My civic is having the same issues
That white hatch looks good!
Thanks! You can see more of it here. ua-cam.com/video/P_TcIsEsP0k/v-deo.html
We learn a lot with all ur vids ignore the comment saying u needa slow down ☝️
Lol, I'm sure you have noticed I pretty much do my own thing all the time anyway
I just bought a 97 civic for 550 it's body is nice but it's engine has been thru alot I'm hoping I can learn enough on UA-cam to make this into a really cool cruise car
There's plenty of info and you have a perfect platform, just keep working on something and you'll make it happen!
@@GarageBuiltHondas I don't know anything about cars so I'm learning from UA-cam I guess, radiator reservoir blew up sent steam everywhere today I'm hoping it's just thermostat cause I'm gonna change tomorrow morning
The best learning is experience. If you're willing to learn, you will. You may have a bad head gasket if the coolant reservoir is filling up and bubbling.
@@GarageBuiltHondas changed thermostat and it's still spraying steam from the reservoir hose coming from radiator. Guess it is a damaged head smh.
Not necessarily a bad head, but the head gasket may need replacing. The coolant is mixing with the oil and the heat is causing the coolant to bubble over and push out through the coolant reservoir.
Salute to the best!!! We gotta throw my ef in that yard bro....
Bring it over!
it needs mad scientist work hahaha but still daily, if you drive it you won’t believe it’s still street safe, shame on me...
Lol
Love the low $ builds, my specialty! 👍
Thanks! 👍
Subscribed. Definitely wanna see more of this Honda.
Awesome!
Awesome man am looking forward for part 2

Hey Jon this just a random question I want to get some kosei k1’s for my 91 crx in a 15x7 which offset do you thing I should go with they only have +38,+30 and +25.
How big of tires do you want?
Garage Built Hondas Idk I was thinking 205/50 what size tires are you running on your crx ?
@@jonathanleyton8945 205/50 with a +35 offset
Garage Built Hondas they don’t have +35 offset :/
So should I go for a different size tire ?
That’s a 1000 dollar car where I’m from😂😂
thats 150 dollar car here
Planning on building a da9 soon?
I'm not. That's a car I'd love to own again and the only one I miss. I never should've sold it but it happens.
Fast and the furious tribute? Ayyyy
I thought that would be so sick!!
This video is awesome!
Thank you!!
Garage Built Hondas can’t wait to see more of this build!
Hi mate, been wanted to ask what’s the wheel spec of your blue Si?
The goat🙌🏽
👍😀
Where did you learn to fix this car?
Trial and error DIY over the last 20 years.
vtec d15?!!! jelly. my 91 civic has a doodoo D15 and a similar clutch issue. car off, shifts fine. but with car on it wont shift at all.. adj the cable to the max gives the pedal some feel but still wont allow it to shift. is it possible to put that fork in backwards?
No, it wouldn't fit. It might have something to do with your flywheel step.
What about a b18cr swap?
Would love it, but they are costly. This is a pretty inexpensive track build.
sweet ride!
😃👍
👍👍👍 AMAZING
Thanks!!
Nice carbon csl trunk!!!
Did you guys check compression prior to purchase?
No, he did not. Ray told me he bought it and asked to bring it over. He ran it before buying and it idles and holds temp very well so he pulled the trigger. We've driven it around the neighborhood and it feels great, no smoking and runs smooth.
Disk brake 262mm??
Front yes. From a dc integra.
Getting oil on my 20 year old driveway makes me cry 😢
Getting oil on my fresh concrete makes me happy. 😀
Just a suggestion less music and maybe a more asmr style where we just hear you working instead of the music. Sometimes I find it hard to focus. It might just be me. For example taylor ray on youtube does this and I like it. For my question
Where did you start researching and learning information about these cars to become so knowledgeable?
And maybe a wind blocking cover for the mic lol
@@ManMrKrazy definitely!
I like that too, but sometimes kind of boring for others maybe also. I'm trying to keep viewers watching. Hope I can compromise for everyone. 👍
Im lookin for a car close to this for my first honda build
Be ready. They can sell quick.
Oooo this is gonna be good
👍
