Red is the guy who watched 3 SoTL videos and half of a Hera video and is like 'I now know all these strategies" and rushes into a ranked game to try them all at once without any real practice In other words, Red is me
"The men have already said goodbye to their friends and family... though it'll be weird because they're gonna have to run past their friends and family to go into battle" This line had me laughing until I cried
That fight at 42:00 is exactly why I love teutons so much those knights shred everything and just keep trucking w/o microing ranged units away even that doesnt help
You know I still think I'm too shit for ranked and only play AI, but then I see videos like this and think if people are this clueless I should just try already
If you can beat hardest ai 1v1 at least half of the time while playing normal strats and not cheesing it you are 100%better than thse guys. I couldnt even beat hard ai when i strted rankeds - it was a mistake :D
Maybe for some, but not necessarily for the majority I used to do this when playing against bots 10 years ago and aoe2 was the only rts game i had tried
Nah I think its what T90 thinks it is. It just "makes sense". Like there is a (flawed) logic behind it and its very easy to see lots of people come to that conclusion.
I started playing in 1999 and the first civ I played were the Franks, but my favorite one quickly shifted to the Byzantine Empire. I always loved paladins and cataphracts and they had most techs so you could adapt yourself easily. I also really loved the Roman Empire and the game teached me that the eastern half survived up to 1453 which filled me with enthusiasm at the time (I was about 12 years old). After that, I had a Teutons phase because I really liked the Teutonic Knights and they had strong paladins. I loved the cheap farms too. Later on, I had a Britons phase because of the Longbowmen. After that, I cycled through these civs and a few other ones. Nowadays, my favorite civ are the Burgundians because I'm fascinated by the Valois Duchy of Burgundy, I love their cavalry mix and I love their mechanics.
lol for some reason I misread the thumbnail and thought it said Taco Bell Micro...On that subject would be funny if there was a mod that replaced the Town Bell with the Taco Bell sound. :P
You said there was another video with Jose ringing the town bell on a more desert-y Arabia map about 2 years ago on LEL, and I quickly searched through the playlist and saw one called "Town Bell Time! (Low Elo Legends)", uploaded almost exactly 1 year before this one (November 21st vs November 24th), with a Jose using the town bell strats, but his name was joseivanconceicao, he played Spanish instead of Teutons, and he was 630 ELO. I know you found the "300 Elo Showdown" one by the end of the video, but I thought it was interesting that there were 2 Town Bell Joses in this game's community (that we know of so far; there could be LEGIONS of them).
Red has good grasp on goth gameplan, when he gets the execution down, his elo could double with that alone. I believe one Russian 2WW general dubbed this strategem "nas mnogo..." (We are many....")
I remember an interview of a guy who crushed a tournament with goth, we asked him how he did : "I just group my barracks and set up a rally point in my ennemies town".
So when I first played the game it was aaallll the way back in the beginning cuz I'm "old" and it was just the demo at first so I could literally only play as the Celts and do the William Wallace campaign. So the Celts have a soft spot in my heart. I also liked the Teuuuuutons because capey boys were cool as heck (look at those stats!), and was also obsessed with the range of longbowmen, so I dug Brits I hated the Franks because like, the very first mission in the Jean of Arc campaign was an escort mission and escort missions are trash (had nothing to do with me being unable to win. Yup. Not at all), wasn't keen on saracens because the first Saladin mission was one of those "all you have is an army and no village" things and I sucked at using my dudes correctly so it got really rough really quickly.
Hey T90 I used to watch your channel alot, however what I have been missing is normal games of normal players, which usually tend to be the most fun because on the one hand theyre not so professional and perfect that huge combacks, slip ups and twists are possible and on the other hand not so bad either that its just silly comedy. Your content is either the super pros with very clean and usually quick games, or some silly tiny weird maps or super low elo comedy, but no "normal" and exciting Age of Empires with non professional but ambitious players. Like Hoang for example, hes not a super pro but hes super fun to watch. Even though I kind of suck I sometimes enjoy rewatching my own mediocre games more than your content because the games are actually more messy and exciting.
Was nice to watch their last stand - that right corner of the map was their holy land or wtf they were fighting about bcs blue wouldnt move an inch! - I respect that :D
4:50 I haven't played any multplayer games yet, only campaigns. Does that count as me playing? My favorite campaigns, by far, are the Lithuanian and Polish ones - but it has nothing to do with their civs though.
Fun game, you mentioned you recognized the guy and wanted to find his video, maybe putting the player names in the video description would help make finding them easier in the future.
Because he already had a castle. Then he didn't. Then he had another one. Then he didn't. And when he lost the second one, Red was starting to put pressure on him, then the game ended. Like, my dude, you're questioning the logic of a LEL. If they played optimally, they wouldn't be LEL's.
I liked Spanish when I was a kid, now I like Portugese because of the piano cannons (organ guns) and gunpowder units and bombard towers, and feitorias for low-wood maps and for when my eco gets raided too often and I want to focus on attacking.
I also think DE has just expanded the playerbase to the point where the floor is just generally higher, not just do to being more "educated" by streamers (though I agree that's 100% at least part of it) but bigger playerbases just means more people to compete against in general and more game frequency and less wait time for the games. The knowledge that used to be good enough to get "you" to, for example, 1100 elo is now known by a larger playerbase and they might be better than "you", but not quite good enough to climb much, but they beat "you" consistently, thus you get knocked down to 1000, 900, 800, etc. But it is indeed better education due to YT and Twitch and even social media giving access to low and mid elo players the information they need to climb if they so desire and can apply their teachings properly. It could also be just a more logical gamer mindset from playing more games in general. For example, my overall skill at TCG's has improved leaps and bounds just from playing other TCG's. Some of these guys may just find it inherently logical to, for example, not trickle treb due to experience in other games. But thats still help from other sources like you said even if its not specifically from T90, or Spirit of the Law, or Dave, or Zero Empires, or directly from a pro's stream Its funny, I don't really have a desire to play ranked so I have no idea what my (undoubtedly low) elo would be, but it used to be that I'd watch a LEL and think "I'm like, (T)90% sure I could beat this person". Now, seein these guys push deer, get their blacksmith upgrades, etc I'm like "yeah, no, this dude would have destroyed me" lmao. I'm literally watching the floor rise above my eyes XD
I hate how I really identify with reds early game, I follow the "good" builds orders for beginners, but as soon as I need to fight or lure my TC goes quiet and I forget it exists. Hurts since I've been playing since 2001, only 2 years after release.
The good thing is that you know it though. So you can work on it and get better. Fear not the flaws you know, they can be ironed out. Fear the flaws you don't know. they'll fester and live there ruining your games forever.
T90. This could be me in this video. Now I've got the eco down and a bit of build order but how are these other players triple my score at the end and coming at me with 50+ military while I'm in castle age. Can you show a run through. I'm getting slayed out here 😅
>steal thousands of stone
>build 2 castles the whole match, one at a time
Amazing
Red is the guy who watched 3 SoTL videos and half of a Hera video and is like 'I now know all these strategies" and rushes into a ranked game to try them all at once without any real practice
In other words, Red is me
Best way to learn.
Wdym we gotta do FOUR SoTL videos?!
"The men have already said goodbye to their friends and family... though it'll be weird because they're gonna have to run past their friends and family to go into battle" This line had me laughing until I cried
TheViper DREAMS of having this town bell micro
That fight at 42:00 is exactly why I love teutons so much those knights shred everything and just keep trucking w/o microing ranged units away even that doesnt help
Hi T90! Loving that you posting more Low elo legends! My favorite series!!! tHX
@5:00 Favorite Civ was Mongols:
*Opponents:* "Poor predictable Mongols, always using Mangudai."
*Me:* "Good ol' Mangudai; nothing beats that!"
I hear town bell, I come'ah watchin.
Tristan just doesn't realize how important gold is in Dark Age.
He'll learn the new meta one day
btw, since you said it during the game: even moderate ai repairs rams while ramming you. they even hide behind the ram so the castle cant hit them.
Amazing game for José, notice how he never upgraded to champion, 2Hs look way better, ahhh... good times...
Fun game. Blue should have made more castles, he had a lot of stone
Yeah, and probably not settle his army in the back of his town, where it had to walk all the way up to defend...
one of my favourite lel is with Jose, when he was putting tuetons in rams vs the guy producing AI armies.
When I started to play AoE2 my favourite civilizaton were vikings because they had a long boats and they were simply vikings.
Beautiful classic matchup between Goths and Teutons. Love it!
lost the game won our hearts
I love you T90, please never stop making low elo legends.
Love low elo legends, gives me something to aspire for….
I think the ace of emeralds thinking comes from RTS games like C&C where you need to expand as fast as possible because you get resources passively.
Maybe for some, but not necessarily for the majority
I used to do this when playing against bots 10 years ago and aoe2 was the only rts game i had tried

My first fav civ, when I was playing the OG Age of Kings version as a kid, were the Persians, because of the War Elephants.
Using Townbell absolutely low ELO, until a pudding guy uses it for a high IQ strategy.
lol for some reason I misread the thumbnail and thought it said Taco Bell Micro...On that subject would be funny if there was a mod that replaced the Town Bell with the Taco Bell sound. :P
*Toilet flushing*
I play on xbox so I do use the Town Bell Micro quite a lot!
15:29 DOUBLE KILL 😵😵

For what was José saving his stone? He could have built like four castles near the enemy's base.
...his tombstone

All I see now is "Candy cane people" lol I love it
when i first started playing (less than a year ago) i played slavs bc worker speed sounded cool, but rn i play spanish bc conq is easy micro
Was nice to watch their last stand - that right corner of the map was their holy land or wtf they were fighting about bcs blue wouldnt move an inch! - I respect that :D
I remember loving Conquistadors and Manguidi. So Spanish and Mongols. Which is funny because I've made it back full circle to maining them again.
4:50

why the hell did Jose refuse to build castles??? He had almost 3000 stone
Because he already had a castle. Then he didn't. Then he had another one. Then he didn't. And when he lost the second one, Red was starting to put pressure on him, then the game ended. Like, my dude, you're questioning the logic of a LEL. If they played optimally, they wouldn't be LEL's.
@@shino4242 building castles is not some obscure strat only practiced by high ELOs
19:20
Not lake view vacation but end of the world view.
I liked Spanish when I was a kid, now I like Portugese because of the piano cannons (organ guns) and gunpowder units and bombard towers, and feitorias for low-wood maps and for when my eco gets raided too often and I want to focus on attacking.
Red's first castle is to defend against the huns.
yo a fellow noob spanish enjoyer! my kid self saw conqs and was like "hell yes" and played only spanish for ages.
About noob civs: I liked Franks for their strong horses, and Japanese + Vikings because I liked water maps.
GG! I remember Jose also But I think it was a Hideout map... maybe or possably Arena.😎
I loved playing britons lol would soan longbows for days.
Looking at the resources had me screeching all game.
I keep waiting for the next McClain one
Why is my Goth brother going archers???
Red must be the Bell Ringer from the Texas Tech videos...
I think that the houses are an AOE4 thing... I think its the Rus? That get some sort of bonus for having houses or huts or something on woodlines.
I would love to see red units on patrol near blue TC, and to hear constantly bell unbell bell unbell...
I love these Videos, i always feel like a good player after that.
as a portuguese i love watching americans trying to speak Spanish
Jose is a good Leader a real one ! Caring for the present caring for the futur !
The 🔔🔔 🔔 *TOWN BELL* 🔔🔔🔔
T'90's favorite! ❤❤❤
I started Teutons, then Britons. Two decades after I still love Britons, but Im moving to Mongols and Huns (cav archers theme)
The mic feedback sound for the last few weeks D:
Where is town bell music mix
I think you can't judge ability by what they do now. Most people who play AoE2 = watches T90 and follows all advice religiously
I also think DE has just expanded the playerbase to the point where the floor is just generally higher, not just do to being more "educated" by streamers (though I agree that's 100% at least part of it) but bigger playerbases just means more people to compete against in general and more game frequency and less wait time for the games. I liked Aztecs (fast scout, villagers carry more, free loom)
Jose is precious. He must be protected at all costs.
I hate how I really identify with reds early game, I follow the "good" builds orders for beginners, but as soon as I need to fight or lure my TC goes quiet and I forget it exists. Hurts since I've been playing since 2001, only 2 years after release.

No one did a "need more townbell" joke?
Red has a build order, if he could make vills he'd be 700+.
Franks and Burgundians are who I play with mostly
24:08 they were atheist
The way blue played is kind of how I image AOE2 would be like lol. Farming area, market and blacksmith area, military area.
Is this a reupload? Feels like I've watched this already 🤔^^
The chat ideas are always so dumb. Good job shutting them down so kindly.
T90. This could be me in this video. Now I've got the eco down and a bit of build order but how are these other players triple my score at the end and coming at me with 50+ military while I'm in castle age. Can you show a run through. I'm getting slayed out here 😅
Jose for Mayor!
I think Jose fought the 9 elo guy
I started playing AOE 2 when it was it was a free game on an emachine.
Spanish is a new civ to me.
All that stone.....
What is the point of having this "green mod" for Arabia?
I was rooting for blue, because if you can't build a nice base then gosh darn the game ain't worth playing
vikings. because i used to play my friend from the UK all the time so it'd be britons v vikings
TOOOOOTANS
"high risk high reward", somehow I highly doubt that it's high risk at this elo
🔔
Beautiful... low elo goths are best.
T90 do a video on the legend of NicoleYesImAGirl
Spanish, Britans and Japanese
6 minutes 6 likes let's goooooo!
Pretty entertaining.
Jose won. The aim of the goal is not to kill the enemy or have fun, the goal is to hoard stone and nothing else.
bro am i the only one whose down bad for them Pigs? i am relentless 👁👄👁
Yeah AoE1 isn't worth it lol.
PS: BLUE NOOB
Usually love lel and you're great t90 but this was just annoying to watch?
Steam EU Key Dawn of the Dukes, accidentally bought it twice: KD2VT-F9Z6E-J9P4N
The constant stream of army is tough to overcome... 😲
I used to ring the town bell all the time. But I've learned. I miss the ding ding ding. 🔔😁
