Meenakshi was a good actress. But she left because after 1990 her career went into downhill. After 1990 suddenly many younger actresses such as Raveena, Karishma, Kajol, Divya Bharati, Urmila, Nagma etc debuted and like always the producers and the public chose the younger lot. She tried and struggled until mid 90s, but it did not work out and hence she moved out and settled down. Baaki jo is video me masala maara gya hai wo sab gossip hai bas.
There is not much age difference between all those actors u mentioned and Meenakshi. She had to leave Bollywood because some producers and singers were constantly after her to marry them which probably her family was not supportive of and hence she had to leave. This was definitely a good decision she made.

age difference. All the actresses i mentioned were just teenagers in early 90s and meenakshi was almost 30. But thats the way hindi cinema has functioned for long. Once an actress reached to 30, the substantial work dried down. Apart from Santoshi's movie she did not have any substantial movie in 90s. So yes, she might had issues in personal life (every actor has) but moving out was purely bcz of commercial failure.

For, eg., some articles show kareena's DOB to be 1977, while in some it shows 1980 or 1981, etc. So these r all unreliable. Regarding Meenakshi, there are several articles where u can read she had immense pressure from rajkumar santhoshi and kumar sanu to marry them, for which they went on to divorce their first wives. Obviously, neither Meenakshi nor her family was supportive of this, and she had to leave the country. She was at the peak of her career when she left. Also, these two may have impacted her career because of her denial to marry them, just like preity zinta's affair with ness wadia.

Even her last successful film (Ghaatak) was with him only. And as per you she was so successful, so she should hv ignored working with santoshi and should hv done films with other directors. But she did not have any successful movie in 90s apart from the one she did with Santoshi. For her Santoshi was the same as RGV was for Urmila. And talking abt b'days, outsiders can hide their age, but not the starkids. And in early 90s most actresses who were launched were starkids. Ex-karishma, kajol, Raveena , Pratibha Sinha etc. Urmila wasnt a starkid, but she started as a kid, so even her age was known to all.
I am not denying Meenakshi's talent. She was super talented, trained dancer and extremely beautiful. She was top 5 in 80s and most of the time she was considered even number 2 just after Sridevi. I am only trying to say that her commercial value went down as soon as 90s started. She failed to deliver hits in 90s. The only solid film in 90s she did was Damini. Thats all.
And talking abt Preity, ppl got bored of her doing same bubbly girl in every movie of hers. That bubbly role suits to young girls. After a certain age n time one should diversify their work and range. Pariniti Chopra was doing the same wat Preity did and see Pariniti too vanished.
