Sehr schön. Musik ihrer Zeit, gravitätisch und ruhig. Balsam für unsere Nerven.

Brilliant French Galant in the refinement of Lully rather than Rameau. Gluck’s Italian Opera was gaining popularity in Paris, but many Parisians still preferred the Galant, which started rivalry and gained their own supporters, and getting each other’s top divas and musicians was common, bit like modern football? ❤this Pau

Die Chaconne klingt wie Telemann ❤

O 1o mov. é uma fanfarra militar. Segue uma dança lenta. Volta o toque de trompete. A pompa e circunstância daqueles tempos tem de reforço o alvoroço militar.

Ah! The conservative musical taste in France! It sounds like a music written 40 years before 1773! It seems unlikely that a contemporary composition of the masterworks of Haydn, Vahnall, Mozart etc. sounds so barocque!

These suites are compilations of inatrumental music from earlier operas by himself and Rameau (and others), put together for a Royal Wedding. That may in part explain why it sounds out of date. I presume it is music the Royal Household had liked over the years, but thats just a guess.
