I read this in an article in Popular Science. It's surprising that this car has only 300hp, an average car's hp, but still runs as fast as all the modern Grand Touring cars. Its lightweight body and triangular shape gives this car a lot of efficiency. The creators wanted this car to really show of the driver's skill because this car doesn't have advantages like rear wings for down force.
no matter the results, it is a great benchmark for future small engines. instead of having a big V8 they use a 1,6 4cylinder engine which is the most common engine setup. so lots of innovations can pass from race to road faster.
The efficiency of a bug eye sprite is no where near the aerodynamic efficiency of this delta wing thing. This not only provides lightweight like the sprite but a tune-able, variable down force. It is also much more efficient from a drag coefficient as well. Driving the sprite is like driving a brick compared to this which is more like driving a javelin, spear, arrow or other similarly thin pointed thing.
and why not brake or turn? having half the weight it can use smaller tires without compromising on performance. but as u said we will see how it goes maybe others will follow next year ;)
in the news said nissan copied the design of the deltawing car. . means they are not the one who first created delta wing. . I don't know if the design is patented. .
Nismo is assisting in it's development, so technically they did a lot. However, Panoz, Bowlby, and friends did do a lot of the car, too, so yeah. UA-cam crashed for me, so I can't see the video. :|
So its light weight and has a turbo motor,so why not just run a Bugeye Sprite with this engine.Weight is about the same. But it would be lighter if the Sprite was made from carbon like this thing is,Aero is really the only new thing about this car,but i could see why a Small car would not be about the same as this delta shape.
Most winning Le-Man's designs are "created" or developed over many seasons. the big story like this is they broke the mold of typical cars, went for a goal and if they don't achieve they keep plugging along until they iron out the bugs. I guess IMHO the story is not what it did this year but what spin off creations of this will do 3-5 yrs from now. Credit where credit is due we don't move forward by sitting around doing the same thing yr over yr. We get ahead by trying new things like they did.
nice comparre to even very sports road car like maclaren mp4 12 c 2kg fornt up lift and 62 kg down force at rear only ,ktm vbow r all down force 192 kg .
I guess you didnt look at a HP Sprite, almost nothing there to cause drag. They keep talking about half of what the other cars use and that equals a Sprite.HP Production Sprites are not British Junk as you call it but well engineered in America by some of the biggest names in American Road Racing.Ever heard of Huffaker engineering?Guess not. Maybe your not up on road racing so much.Cheers
This is the first I heard this car is a Nissan. Why does this video make it look like they had the idea and made the car? I'm guessing it was cheap for them to put their engine in and their name on the side. It looks like a dog of a race car too, hows it going to turn or brake? I'm willing to eat my words but I doubt I will have to.
British junk does not interest me, I owned a Triumph and used to ride in a brand new sprite. You are being very visual and doing a great disservice to what it took to develop this car, I don't know how you can make any comparison to a car that could have won LeMans to something as backwards as a Sprite. I know Sprites very well. Your sense of logic escapes me.
As if "high performance motoring" in today's platforms results in green "guilt" complex for any driving enthusiast or racing team. Great technology but to claim that it's for the reasons of 'saving' the earth is feel good, psycho babble. People are rightly drawn to the idea that efficiency will benefit their billfold at the pump rather than being convinced that they're currently 'killing' the earth with their current Altima. Had to throw in the green buzzwords.

can't wait to watch it at the 24 but ! I wonder how long then front tires will last ??
Have you ever seen a HP Bugeye Sprite? Take a look at one them think it over a little.

I want a picture of this evolution this car is it.
How many Lateral G's can this car handle?
For the strait line is ok, but how will handle this car on a turn... :S
(

what about the front wheel? is easier to understear?
Nismo is assisting in it's development, so technically they did a lot. However, Panoz, Bowlby, and friends did do a lot of the car, too, so yeah.

Can I do land speed record in this car bonneville needs and evolutionary car to do it.
in the next gran turismo i hope
Would pay to see this actually make it round a corner...
batman should ride one like that in his new film.
its funny cuz all nissan put into this car is the engine, yet their claiming that they basically did everything. gotta love big corporate sponsors

It looks like the tim burton batmobile
how much down force it produce?
ok i found some tech spec on 200 km/h it produce around 380 kg at rear axle and around 180 kg at front axle
nice comparre to even very sports road car like maclaren mp4 12 c 2kg fornt up lift and 62 kg down force at rear only ,ktm vbow r all down force 192 kg .
This is a step, I think you are being a little harsh.
I want that in forza. Now!
As long as you use gas you won't be completely free of guilt.
its the batmobile
High fuel prices now this, if that's how the future is shaping I'm taking my bicycle out :/

I am sure they put in money, that buys certain rights. You dont often get something for nothing in this world.
