i mean the band in question that everyone keeps mentioning has to be dimmu borgir. which, unfortunately live, are a shell of what they once were. maybe even a shell of a shell. DF continues to be solid live through out, despite the line up changes. Cradle of filth continue to be pretty good. Another band that may sneak on the radar, depending on how big they wanna go is Kanonenfieber. Mayhem of course always puts on a good live show. Terrific interview btw regardless. Lord Ahriman will probably always be my favorite black metal guitarist of all time. Top 3 all time in overall artists in the genre. I couldnt be happier for all of the success in his career. He truly deserves it.
Saw them live in Australia 2012 and they were terrible, I walked out half way through. The bands that played before them killed it because they wanted to be their & put on a show DF didn't!

I was brought into the backstage scenario at a Dark Funeral/ Incantation show in the earlier 2000s by my vocalist buddy who was in the opening band ORIGIN then, and the now deceased bassist Joe Lombard from Incantation (RIP brother 🤘🤘) was also part of our little smoke group Lol. It was actually in the upstairs room of the venue btw where ALL the bands gathered pre/post shows etc. . Anyways, I had the smoke Lol and so, yeah.. Started with James and Joe and THEN? The then touring bassist for Dark Funeral LIVE (who WAS a member of Dismember, sorry do NOT remember his name but...) and we ALL end up deciding to go upstairs, and after walking up the long steps to the upstairs room , THERE he WAS! Lord Ahriman from Dark Funeral finishing up piddlin with his guitar case etc And I am over there with my prized "DARK FUNERAL SECRETS OF THE BLACK ARTS Longsleeve shirt" and all 😏, and he is leaving the room not long after we ALL walk up there. We locked eyes as soon as we saw each other and he just walked on by us ALL and Lord Ahriman is ALL kinda sizing me UP n down as he's walking out and then, FINALLY?.....He just gave me the MOST tiny little head nod on his way out the door and down the stairs as I threw him the horns with one hand.😏 LOL. It was CLASSIC...And Dark Funeral of course, DID NOT disappoint THAT night on stage. The THEN drummer Matt Modine was in the back alley/loading area preshow doing some like, stretches and I had my CD booklet for him to sign and yeah,...HE was like the ONLY one (outta MANY underground Metal musicians that I have met) that was like ALL 🙄 when I asked for his signature and was just pretty much like, "ok I WILL sign it but? Leave me TF ALONE after so, okay?" Not saying THAT/OR ANYTHING FTM but..I got HIS message, like pretty QUICK ...🥴 But I DID get his signage 😎. Didn't EVEN THINK to even TRY gettin one from Lord Ahriman ( as I was a bit overwhelmed BACK then) Lol. ROCK the funk ON 😎🤘🔥🤘
