I actually got a bunch of 3lbers this year. It was a great year for white bass at this spillway. Wipers were on the small side. Not sure where all the big ones from last year went! The crowds were ridiculous this year! I've never seen anything like it. Thanks for watching!
i woke up around 430am and could fall back asleep so i just watched this as encouragement to get out of bed and head to my favorite dam here in WV. nice video 👌
@BackroadsAngling thank man, hope u were more successful than I was. Low water levels recently has forced the fish away from the rocks...caughr 3 smallies in 10 hrs for a grand total of 5lbs lol
Love the content! Great place...would love to fish it one day. Is it normal at that spot for random folks to roll up within two rod lengths and start fishing? What is the etiquette there? Wasn't referring to Jon.
Thanks! It was very crowded this year. By far the most people I've ever seen there. For the etiquette question, it depends on who shows up. There are plenty of people that show respect and ask before they move in on you but I had a few bad days this year where a group showed up and didn't even look at me or say anything before fishing shoulder to shoulder, crossing my lines every cast until I had to leave.
The problem is there are no size or catch limits. I talked with my local DNR agent about this recently and he said they want to put in place a size limit in which you can only take 1 wiper over 22 inches. He said some in the DNR are resistant to impose new regulations so he needs support from the fishing community. Calling your local agent and letting them know you support limits on wipers goes a long way. Hopefully they will follow through with this. It will help a lot with the over harvesting that goes on at this spillway.
😆 dnr wants the 💰. Put limit and people won't come from different county or state to fish there. They will lose revenue for the city and state. Money rules the world.
Yes, the other guy was using and ultralight with 4 lb test. I tried to warn him about the inevitable heartbreak coming his way but he was committed to it. The white bass are built different in this river that's for sure! Thanks for watching!
How long ago did you film? Seems like it might be hard to fish right now and theres always alot of people there. Need to hit it super early like you lol
It's more or less flooding down there right now. The water has gone way up and will stay up for awhile. This year was the worst I've seen for crowds by far. Most days it was too crowded to fish and I just went somewhere else.
A 3lb white bass is crazy! Killer job at that spot as always

Nice! I’m just launching my boat now too. Good luck!

Great action at the Spillway of Dreams! But i gotta say I miss the narration! Thanks for sharing.
I know it’s kind of boring without any talking. I had a lot of people standing behind me and around me so I felt weird talking to the camera. Thanks.
Sure flooded now lol great day of fishing...
Ya, it's really ripping right now. The high flows kind of ruined the party. Thanks, and it was fun to fish with you down there!
Awesome vid! You still caught some and got through even with all the crowds!
Thanks, once you find a spot you're good as long as you don't have to pee.

I wish the DNR would sweep through there and check limits and licenses.

That white bass was as tall as he was long! Did he say he is using 4 pound test at the Magic Spillway of Giants?

What about work today? lol nice fish as always!
Haha. Yes, it always gets in the way! Thanks for watching!
You made a wire hook setter, do you ever use that device with a float?
Yes I put it under a float for trout sometimes.
Back in wiper City
You know it!
How old are those “medium” fish?
3yrs old or so?
Man that was a stud walleye and a couple of huge white bass! Is that area fishable now or is it underwater?
Thanks, a good mixed bag in this one. The area is way under water right now. The river is really ripping and not even wadeable in most spots.

Good job too btw
I caught a nice 5lb striper on mcbride 2 or 3 weeks ago

Nice!
Good very good
Thank you!
I just want to cut you out of this video and insert myself. I want to go fishing so bad, but a torn rotator cuff has me watching videos of fishing.
If you have a good enough imagination you can do just that! I hope your rotator cuff gets better! Thanks for watching!
