IF Cafe on Kampa Island is the best Prague cafe, bar none. While the others live in the past, IF Cafe has sublime creations in the most beautiful, exquisite part of Praha. And I’m sorry an American has to correct a Czech; please go there and you will see what I mean. Those on this video are good, particularly Cafe Orient. But IF Cafe is in a different galaxy.
Thank you so much fot your nice Video & great tips. I'm flying to Prag next week & will definitely check all these Cafés that you mentioned. I totally agree with you when you said mostly tourists go to Cafe International franchise! Boring & has nothing to do with the local culrure ! Thanks again!
Thank you for your videos. We are in Prague right now. Our two daughters went on separate trips here a couple of months ago and they both followed your itineraries. We went to the Louvre last night and will try one of these places next.
I'm Czech and I consider a 10% tip to be a very good tip in the Czech environment, especially on a larger bill. I wouldn't say it's the average but more of a gold standard when the service and food was very good. In some exceptional circumstances I can imagine more, but it would have to be out of this world experience. For work lunch or beer I think it's okay to just round up (although I personally also give 10%).
As always funny and interesting video, my favourite coffee place, only for interior is Fantova Kavarna Praha at Main Train Station the old part, beautiful ceiling. Coming in 2 weeks for my around 15+ trip to Praha.
Been about 5 times. Fantastic city let down by miserable people and awful traditional food. Overlook those facts the Czech Republic is a charming city and very safe
Cafe Slavia is the best next to the National Theater on the river bank. I was here in 1975, but even then they had exclusive prices. It's a better place than the Sacher in Vienna and it's easier to pay.
"Hello" from Canada. Wonderful video (as usual). I will never understand how someone would travel to Praha, and seek out the same bad coffee as they are used to buying at home (Char - bucks). The featured Café's looked beautiful, and I'm willing to bet the coffee is wonderful. Thank you.
OMG, I finally experienced one of Valarey’s best of Prague list, Cafe Louvre. My niece back when we visited said it was a must do so we did. Easy to find, very relaxing and great food and service. Great time in a slightly upscale setting. And you thought I was just addicted to pub crawls.
RPGs!!!! These are beautiful. The photography is beautiful on this video. The Cafés are beautiful. I think if people will go just before or just after tourist season they will have a much better experience. It looks like for about €10 you can drop in and warm up with coffee and cake. Go see Prague in March or October avoid the crowds. Take a tour.
I don't have any money to visit prague, but this video and your expressions are funny and make me want to visit. If you did a longer video, I would definitely watch you and a coffee expert describe coffee and food in a variety of coffee places.
I love the way you spoke about service. I'm Hungarian and I find the customer service is quite different than in western countries and it can come off a bit strange. 😊 I live the fact you made a very realistic depiction of what to expect.
Visited Cafe Imperial today, absolutely awesome! I had Svíčková, then Imperial cake, all washed down with a decent sized beer, all for less than £24, including tip. The food was off the scale good, and the Svíčková has matched the Tafelspitz I had at the Hotel Sacher as my favourite local meal!
While everything I said above was true, I’ve since checked my bill! I noticed that I was charged for water, when I simply asked for some tap water. I’m not sure if this is practice in Prague, but the only reason I asked for water was that my beer had nearly run out before I was finished! The reason my beer had nearly run out was because the first meal that was brought out to me needed to be replaced! I still enjoyed the experience, I was happy with the price, just not happy to be charged for tap water!
@@2ag816 Hi, it´s normal to be charged for tap water here in czech. In some places the cost you pay for the water goes to different charities, but in other places it´s just because sadly some people sit in restaurants and cafes for hours and they don´t order anything and that´s not profitable for the place. But it´s getting more common to have free water if you order coffe, which I think is a great thing.
Love your videos Valarie! We are coming next weekend and fly in mid evening on Friday - is there anywhere you would recommend in the old town area for good food around 8.30/9pm? Thank you
Thanks Valery! Not for this specific video but ALL of them. You're the best. I'm sorry that you're booked for the time when we are coming but your videos have been the most helpful I have seen.
As a local, I would pass on Slavia. Unfortunately, just a shadow of its former (pre-Velvet Revolution) glory. I would recommend Café Nona instead, located just across the street from Slavia in the new building of the National Theatre. Otherwise, all others are spot on - I take my foreign friends to all of them, too!
I’m planning to travel to Czech Republic the day that we will be reable to smoke in planes. After everything that I have lived and endured here I deserve vacations in a free country. First I will manage to find a more secure apartment for few few of my things cause the rest is in my house. Maybe I will come at the same time that my people, they’ll see how freedom is supposed to be and lot more... Well let’s go back to work for the economical $ plan. (an other plan but that could further concern our travel either) I’ll bring a 1TB Usb flash drive with all my movies ripped with Mp4g files and all my best music tracks in real audio format, and lot more things.
I think your videos are amazing, and I appreciate the candid and not-solicited reviews, however, if the places ARE good and you truly believe they are, I think it's totally OK and I have no problem if you got rewarded or appreciated by them! We will be in Prague in two weeks and definitely planning to visit most of the places you recommended in this video!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!!! :)
We don’t get rewarded by the places. Only once someone offered to us to promote their hotels and we told them how much we want for it and they never responded :D.
is it standard in prague cafes to have non-dairy milk options/would any of the five you recommend have those? or should i stick to the specifically vegan cafes i find on happy cow lol
Just one question, For sure the cafes you recommand look super nice and I am sure is! but how is it "cheaper" then big chain cafe like (Costa)? I went to Caste in Prague and pretty sure I didn't pay $6-$7eu for a piece pie!
We don’t recommend any cafe in Prague Castle in this video. Cappuccino in Grand Cafe Orient is 75 CZK. This video is though about the Most Beautiful Cafes
Hi thank you for all of these videos about Prague which I will visit soon. I am a bit confused about these cafes, since some look more like restaurants to me. You say you have to book for Cafe Slavia and others. I can't imagine booking for a cafe. We plan to visit during the week and avoid weekends. Do you think booking is still necessary in that situation ?
For some of these it’s better to book (like Cafe Imperial). But yes, some of these are called Cafes but they also serve food. Grand Cafe Orient most likely you can go to without reservation
The 10% tip thing must be a Prague thing . . . I've only heard of this by travel guides and in the more touristy areas . . . . 10% or more if the service is good? Where is there good customer service in Czech? LOL . . . it's cordial at best.
Tiping is totaly normal in Czech Republic everywhere, when your bill is for example 180 CZK, you will probably give 200. It's not that much about tiping, it's just about making it easier and faster, they don't have to look for coins and even when you pay by card, many people say round it to 200 or something. Tiping is part of our culture, but ofcourse it's not like in US, when you don't tip, nobody will hurt you because of that.
Forget Starbucks ! Never really took off in Australia as it's no good. But my friends went to Maccas in all European cities. We went to local pubs for goulash with great dumplings. Duck down an arcade and try a local place!! Don't give all you're money to faceless corporations who only hire teenagers !
I could not agree more with your opening confession: why go to soulless, generic corporate chain cafes and restaurants when you travel abroad?! People who prefer Starbucks to small indie coffee houses are my polar opposite as humans.
I've been to Prague over a dozen times since 1980. I walk Charles bridge and stand amazed before the astronomical clock every time. I'm amazed by the science and engineering every time. Does it bother me that Prague has maintained it's history? Absolutely not! 🙂
Dont go to any cafe in prague expecting to get a hot coffee to warm u up on a cold day. 8 of the cafes i went to all served lukewarm coffee. 2 of them were on this list, such a disappointment
Sorry to hear that! This video's theme is: Beautiful cafes (interior design wise). These recommendations are intended for people who want to sit in beautiful cafes. Unfortunately that doesn't always mean the quality and the service is great.
I will start to tip when waiters start to apply themselves to there jobs. Dear waiters when I ask for the bill right after ordering a drink it’s because I don’t like your bad attitude
Arriving I.
In A few days ….can’t get enough of your videos !

I went to Grand Café Orient when I was in Prague in November.
A great sampling of the cafes in Prague's center! Happy to see my old friend, Arnošt Lustig, mentioned in the context of Cafe Slavia.
Please do a food tour together with "Honest Guide"
Thanks for the introduction. Cafe Louvre (brunch) and Cafe Slavia (cake and open sandwich) were wonderful places with delicious food.

very good. I will be traveling there during the summer.
Thanks Valarie, we have added these to our list, 3 weeks to go. 🇦🇺
time for an annual Prague visit.. thank you for another great recommendations.
Thank you for your videos. We are in Prague right now. Our two daughters went on separate trips here a couple of months ago and they both followed your itineraries. We went to the Louvre last night and will try one of these places next.
Café Louvre was amazing! Excellent, affordable food. I look forward to trying the other cafes.
Thank you so much for recommendations even though when I go every year I only visit one of your list of cafes
Being a coffee addict I thank you very very much ... ☕👍

Also easier to get a table (seems every nice cafe in Vienna has long queues)
Great guide - Slavia and Louvre are my favourites. This is a great channel, probably the best Prague guide!

@@chrisgrubert8389 Cheers.
Agreed. Ridiculous.
These cafes look amazing. Oh my.
Wow some of these places look amazing.
Another great video, Valery! Very well done.
This video became really useful information for me, which is hard to find in other videos. Thank you so much
I've visited Grand Orient Cafe for new year's eve - nice place 🙂
I love this particular topic, another great video Valery! Great information and humor!❤

I visited Praha in August 1971. The prices were LOW !
Thanks for sharing.im will visit in next month soon
I don't have any money to visit prague, but this video and your expressions are funny and make me want to visit. If you did a longer video, I would definitely watch you and a coffee expert describe coffee and food in a variety of coffee places.
Excellent video, thank you very much for your recommendations on the cafes in Prague
Love the video, we dislike Starbucks as much as McDonalds. How about a video about local hamburger or fast food much better the McD or Burger K?
Fantastic topic! Many thanks for this one. ❤️
Thanks for the advices! Since I’m in prague right now these videoes are really useful. 😊
Very helpfull and informative video, thank you so much! I'll definitely give these cafes a try next time i'm in Prague.
Where can you find the best medovik cake in the city? 😊 Thanks for a great café guide! 🖤
I love the way you spoke about service. I'm Hungarian and I find the customer service is quite different than in western countries and it can come off a bit strange. 😊 I live the fact you made a very realistic depiction of what to expect.
Thx, tomorrow I am going try a few of these
I love Café Imperial and its art deco style. Good choice❤
Amazing looking place that one.
I love Praha 😍😁
plenty of people think the same as you too!
Happy new year Valerie and crew, great cafes in Prague and we never went to the ones you have shown but definitely on our list next time.
Thank you Valery for this delightful tour of coffee houses in Prague. Being a lover of coffee and cake, this was a tease!!!😱🤣🌹👌
Don't forget Kavárna Kočičí in the Old Town. 😸
Is it true Cafe Imperial has some of the best svíčková in Prague? Must try some day.
They have to have good food.
For coffee I prefer mixes.
Great!
Thank you for sharing ❤
These places look totally palatial. I totally missed all these places on my previous visits to Prague
What a shame, first 3 are within 5 min radius of Old Town Square.

You mentioned the prices in Euros. Is it acceptable to pay in Euros or do most places prefer the Czech Koruna?

Great video. Thanks. What currency to use in Prague? Euro or ? Thanks.
What’s the policy at these types of places for sitting and getting some work done for a while?
Do people sit and chat or is there an expected period in which you should finish?
I have visited all of them apart Café Imperial... I don't know where is it...
Cafe Alchemista missing :(
