The Royal College of Music is a vibrant place to study with students from more than 60 countries currently enrolled.
For most of our courses, every candidate who applies by the application deadline will be offered an audition.
Being properly prepared for your audition means you will be able to present yourself at your best. As well as learning the appropriate repertoire and refining your technique, there are some decisions to make, including where your audition will take place. The RCM holds auditions across the globe to make it easier for those who cannot easily get to London.

RCM musicians are able to receive credit for studies in two specialisms, either through Second Study or, in more rare cases, Joint Principal Study. Many also undertake Related Study, which allows flute players, for example, to build their skills in piccolo while focusing primarily on flute. Audition requirements will vary depending on your chosen area of study and whether you are applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate course. To find out more, please visit www.rcm.ac.uk/apply

Applicants to the RCM will be considered for scholarships as well as places. Eligibility for scholarships is based on merit, which is determined by performance at audition or the strength of portfolio and interview for composers. Other awards, bursaries and sources of support are available outside of the RCM too. Hello I have a question. I am 14 and have been playing piano by ear for a few months. I can listen to and play any music after a few minutes. I can do the same on guitar. Will I need to be grade 8 or just equivalent to it? Aka will I need a personal piano tutor. I’ve taught myself sheet music but I’m not certain this would be enough as I couldn’t find the information on the website. Thanks (Not thinking of auditioning yet, not sure I even can result of age).

Is it possible to major in 3 thing like violin, piano, and composition?

What is the standard for Principal study? Is it over Grade 8 or Grade 8?
Thank you for your question. Applicants are assessed on the standard of their audition. Successful people are of a very high standard, usually beyond Grade 8.

I would like to know what categories are there in singing? What can I sing in the auditions? I am from India and I have been learning Indian classical along with bollywood music. So can I sing some bollywood song in the auditions?
